Do you lie . . .
. . .on your ticker?
I find I always post the losses but hardly ever the gains. Too embarrased :o Dagmar |
I always post them... It's just my way of being accountable to me. It's ain't pretty, but I do it. To me the ticker and my sig are about my goal accountability, that's why I keep 'em real. However, last week I did not even have time to weigh (we weigh at school on Fridays). My home scale is a bit off my work scale, and I knew I had not lost. So I will post again this Friday.

as you can see from my ticket I got off track around the holidays. So I left my original goals as is and added the ticker to the top to track my after holiday weight loss. In the past (before I fell off the wagon). I normally only weighed myself once a week to avoid those fluctuating numbers so didn't have to worry about readjusting my tiker and adding pounds back on.
|
Not yet, but my weigh-in's tomorrow. So I guess we'll see...
|
I usually do, but last week I was up on Thursday (first weigh-in for a few weeks, so probably for a while), but forgot to post. I was back down today, so I stayed the same and didn't adjust. But yeah, it prob had something to do with subconsciously not wanting to post the gain :)

I don't have a ticker (never really figured it out), but I have all sorts of complicated rules about updating the weight listed in my profile. I never lower it until I have consistently come in at the lower weight for at least a week. And even then sometimes I don't lower it--I'm afraid I'll jinx myself. But I also rarely raise it. I think I have to be at the higher weight for two weeks before I raise it and only then if it is several pounds higher than what my profile says.
I also have complicated rules about the weight that I enter on the machines when I do cardio. As a general rule, I only drop my weight in 5 lb increments, and I have to be at least two lbs below the next lowest 5 lb for at least a week before I drop it. So I'm currently entering 120 on the machines, even though I weighed 116 this morning (and my profile says I weigh 117). To enter 115, my weight has to be 113 or lower for at least a week. And even then, I might not lower it because I know it will reduce the calories I'm burning. I tell myself it is because it will make it harder to compare workouts, but really it's that I'd prefer to think I'm burning more calories. I can't quite figure out what my rule is for raising the weight I enter on the machines, but it appears that I never enter a weight higher than 120. |
Wow Barbara, that is complicated.
I maintained this week. I'm saying just in the interests of full disclosure. |
I don't understand how to change the weight in the ticker. :( I mean, I don't think I have to yet... but when I do, I don't know. Wahh.

Ha ha...It totally pains me to change my ticker but I do it even when it's on the upswing. The thing is that despite having a self imposed respite from working out this month, I have maintained by sheer will power alone...
My Jamaica trip looms in the month of April.... |
I only change it down, never up. I've never been more than a pound or two above what my ticker says, so I don't feel that I need to discourage myself by upping the weight. The point of the ticker is to motivate, not to cause more stress.
|
I post no matter what direction I'm going. Keeps me honest...sigh.
|
Considering that I am currently 4 pounds OVER ticker weight, I guess I do lie. Not that I am lying to myself--I KNOW I'm over and I'm TRYING to get back to ticker so that I can go down!
|
I don't intentionally LIE but my ticker is wrong at the moment  Just laziness on changing it I guess  ...
I don't change it though every time I fluctuate ONE pound...... |
I gained 3lbs this week... but there is no way im changing my ticker... I like the way it looks and I know I will be back down there soon! I completely agree with Faerie... "The point of the ticker is to motivate, not to cause more stress."
