Planning & Chat Feb. 18 - 24

Good Morning everyone!

Is it spring yet? Are we trying on the bikinis - with the snowboots ;)?

What are everyone's plans for this week?

Dagmar

Mudpie 02-18-2008 06:04 AM

A new thing for me

I have been posting/reading here for about 9 months now :).

I really enjoy hearing from everyone  and responding and sharing my own knowledge of weight loss.

I think I have the mechanics of what I need to do for me to lose weight. I will continue to post here. Since I wake up so early I will happily start the weekly plan thread whenever I'm around :p.

But I'm starting to really deal with the psychological :dizzy: issues of losing and maintaining weight loss and I find I get kinda long-winded :p about that. I don't think this forum is about that so I am going to try to start and maintain a blog.

I will let you all know where that is on the site as soon as I figure it all out . Anyone who wants to see the less tangible aspects of my weight loss journey can go there.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi girls - I hope to have an OP week. The weekend wasn't bad but not great either. I got some exercise in - walking both days and an exercise dvd. I need to step it up with food this week.

All of the schools around us are closed today for President's Day - all but us! I am so jealous. I could really use the extra sleep, plus it's raining today, and I was sleeping like a champ. Oh, well. Better get going...

Have a healthy Monday girls!

Scenestealer 02-18-2008 07:28 AM

Dagmar, I'm excited to see your blog!

Claire, I didn't even realize it was President's Day. I'm supposed to work today, but am stuck at the airport right now. Got to the airport this morning and went to buy my ticket, and the guy told me they were flying a "holiday schedule. I called our travel agent to see if there were any other airlines, but the next flight out isn't until 9:30! I'm really annoyed - neither my client nor my company consider President's Day a holiday, and I'm surprised that the airlines have pared down the routes so much.

srmb60 02-18-2008 08:39 AM

Good morning!

Here it's the new provincial holiday Family Day.

thinnythighs 02-18-2008 09:12 AM

Woke up feeling kinda...dehydrated. Which doesn't make sense cause i'm drinking alot. Guess i'll drink more.

Scale hasn't moved, but i look smaller.

CW: 156
BMI: 25.2

Mini goal: 149

alinnell 02-18-2008 11:12 AM

Good morning.

I've got the day off of work, but it will be no vacation day. DH and the kids are going to hit some golf balls with grandpa this morning while I stay home and work on taxes and some other work. After lunch, I have to take DD for some new running shoes (may have to buy some for myself) and DS for some new shorts. Then I have to go to the grocery store. Nothing like having a day "off!"

BlueToBlue 02-18-2008 01:16 PM

I am going to have a great week! I am finally over my cold and I ran intervals on both Sat and Sun for the first time since October! :woohoo: My calves are a little sore but no problems at all with my knee. That means that I can run intervals on Tuesday instead of going to spin class with the annoying instructor! Plus I have some of my lowest calorie meals planned for lunch and dinner, so it should be easy to stay POP all week. :broc: In fact, not only do I have the meals planned but they are already made--all the way through Thursday. I don't have to cook again until Friday. So maybe the kitchen will even stay clean. ;)

Walking: How can your school not have President's Day off? It's a national holiday--even the stock exchanges are closed (which is also why the airlines are on a holiday schedule, Scenestealer; it's probably a union requirement that they run a holiday schedule on national holidays).

Incidentally, did you know that the holiday is really Washington's birthday? At least according to the NYSE, the "Monday Holiday Law," enacted in 1968, shifted the date of the commemoration of Washington's Birthday from February 22 (his actual birthday) to the third Monday in February, but neither that law nor any subsequent law changed the name of the holiday from Washington's Birthday to President's Day.

It's not a day off for me but it is for a lot of other people--either their company recognizes national holidays or they had to take it as a personal day because their kids are off. Which is great because, although I am working, I have no meetings! Love that! :yay:

Mudpie 02-18-2008 05:41 PM

Just a bloggin' fool

Have set up the blog and posted twice :p in it (today is the new stat holiday here so I've had some extra time). It's called "losing my luggage?" and I have no idea :o how to get to it from 3FC (I'm going there from my hotmail account where they sent me a link).

I like it so far but there are no smilies there (insert frownie here). And I've yet to figure out the spellchecker. I seem to be losing weight from my brain first these days :dizzy:

Dagmar (praise be the rain has finally stopped)

greatchoice 02-18-2008 07:42 PM

No day off for me either but we do get holiday pay:carrot: My son had last Monday and this Monday off from school for both presidents, Lincoln and Washington.

I couldn't sleep when I got home this morning so I got up and walked on my treadmill instead. I need to get to bed a little earlier this evening, like about NOW!!!:dizzy:

Barbara-Good for you getting all your meals planned and made! That is my dream to be that organized someday, especially related to my food/meals. I do plan out what I'm having the next day every night but I still don't feel very organized. Way to go on your exercising!

Have a great day. Jane

frog0726 02-18-2008 08:53 PM

My boys didn't have today off. They were off Friday, though.

Mudpie 02-19-2008 07:55 AM

Sunny day!

Good morning all!

It's sunny here today and really clear and cold - just the weather I like! No snow in the forecast until Friday either so I'm a happy little clam :dancer:.

I kinda feel like it's Monday for me due to the long weekend. Weighed in this morning at 133. I think, until around April, that this will be more maintenance/less losing for me. I have to eat more in the cold :p to keep going (and it's pretty cold around our TV ;))

Have a great week everyone!

Dagmar

tukogirl 02-19-2008 02:18 PM

Dagmar -

I'm excited to see your blog when you are able to link it. I definitely think maintaining is a whole new frame of mind and its interesting to get some new perspective on it. Ive maintained my 70 pound loss for just over 2 years (with a little gain of about 6 that im stopping right now) and I frequently refer to it not as maintaining but as "outpacing the monster" :dizzy:

Mudpie 02-19-2008 06:41 PM

TechnoNOT!

tukogirl I think you might be waiting awhile for the link to my blog. I'm still not able to figure out :dizzy: how to access it from the 3FC site. I'm going through my hotmail account.

I am not a tech-savvy person :o. My DH is and I'll probably ask him for help this weekend to see if I can get this worked out :).

srmb60 02-20-2008 05:37 AM

So much snow!

If I'm going to get to work this morning, I'll need DH to drive me again!

On a happier note ... food has been good for a couple of days. I'm inspired by Glory87 and it seems to be just the spark I needed.

Mudpie 02-20-2008 05:49 AM

;) After he drives you to work SusanB you can go ahead and send your DH over here to drive me around all day. He'll get lots of slurpy dog kisses as a reward.

Bit off plan yesterday. Not horrible ( a few choc whoppers ), but still not right on track.

At least i chose the grilled chicken quesadilla for dinner ( only ate maybe half of it ), and not the chili cheese burger DH had.

Mini goal: 149

BlueToBlue 02-20-2008 01:01 PM

On Monday I was so hungry I had to give myself an extra 100 calories for the day. But then yesterday I ended up with a surplus of calories and felt completely satisfied all day. I even added peanut butter to my oatmeal and ate 1/2 oz of almonds (which are such high calorie/low volume foods I would normally never have them both on the same day), and still came in 50 calories low for the day. :dunno: Go figure...

Just Deb 02-20-2008 02:11 PM

Way off track the last few days. But working on getting back. 30 min on the elliptical and 1150 in cals yesterday. Low - I know - but after 3 days in the 2500, I think a few low days are in order. And lots of water. My scale jumped almost 5lbs. Ouch!!

justdoit37 02-20-2008 03:10 PM

I'm not going to eat after I eat my supper. Kitchen is closed for me at night. That is my one week goal. So far so good.

frog0726 02-20-2008 03:30 PM

OMG, I feel like a bottomless pit today. I have these days every so often, and nothing I eat will fill me up! Yikes!

alinnell 02-20-2008 04:04 PM

Bottomless pit? Eating off track? That's been me the past couple of mornings. Usually I'm not hungry and I eat just because I know I should and I know that if I don't I'll be very hungry at work. Yesterday, I was starving and I wanted something hot. Leftover baked potatoes? Yes, that will be good. I planned on eating it over two mornings and it got the better of me and I polished it all off. They were those little red potatoes--I ate 16 of them. Okay, so some of them are the size of marbles, but others were rather large. I imagine it was over 2 cups of potatoes. My bad.

I'm flying out of the nice 70 degree weather here on Friday and going to the snow in SLC. You may not hear much from me while I'm up there--I'm sure I'll be very busy.

srmb60 02-20-2008 04:12 PM

Are any of you familiar with a mint smoothie? Oh dear!

walking2lose 02-20-2008 05:09 PM

Noo... sounds interesting though. What's in it? Besides mint, of course...

I just got back from grocery shopping - I bought the Women's World with Glory in it, and I can't wait to read it. I need some inspiration!

I have been very busy this week and VERY tired. I have just needed about 3 more hours every day to get stuff done. Needless to say, I have been to bed very late every night, and I've had to really DRAG myself out of bed in the morning. It's awful. I think, like Ennay, that the fatigue is triggering bad eating. I've been so hungry, and it's just been a hard week. I don't even want to weigh on Friday, but I must face it... otherwise, how will I get back on track?

So, here's to the next few days being better!

srmb60 02-21-2008 05:34 AM

300 calories of whipped chocolate mint stuff in a thick chocolate coating. Oh dear. Yesterday was not really so good.

Today will be better.

Mudpie 02-21-2008 05:58 AM

Rough "hump day" for all?

Before we all go somewhere silly (though that sound like a great plan given the week so far) in this burg we call Wed. "hump" day. That's cause it's the middle of the week and we all need to get over the hump!

Sounds like a lot of us at 3FC had problems yesterday (I did not eat 4 huge cookies worth 220 calories each :o, it was my  twin) so I hope we're all "over the hump" and back OP today.

I worked from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. outside with one quick dinner break of 30 minutes and one cat sit about 3 p.m. (see cookies above). DH's snoring meant I didn't get much sleep Tues. night so I was sooo tired by the end that I almost drove my car through the closed garage door.

Today will be better!

Have to ask though I won't eat/drink(?) one any time soon (see cookies above). SusanB, where did you get the mint smoothie? I allow myself one treat each week and this sounds like a good one. I figure (see cookies above) that I'll be due another treat around the end of March

Dagmar :p

There's a chocolatery (made that word up) in Stratford called Rheo Thompson. They're quite famous locally. I bought one from a neighbour who is fundrasing for her daughter's children's summer art camp.

Yummy! I'll have to check it out on our summer travels. The Toronto spelling of your word is chocolaterie (I suppose it's a nod toward bilingualism).

This week has been good so far. I joined on the 16th and I had lost a pound when I stepped on the scale today. It's okay that it took a few days to loose it because It took a couple of days to get in the swing of eating healthy again. I'm happy for the one pound loss. 19 more to go.

alinnell 02-21-2008 11:57 AM

I won't be around much after today--I'm flying to SLC to visit my Mom. It's her birthday (85) on Saturday and she was hoping to be home from the nursing home by then, but it looks like it will be a few more days or weeks before they discharge her.

My eating has been okay, except for those breakfast snafus, but my weight is not budging.

BlueToBlue 02-21-2008 12:28 PM

300 calories actually sounds pretty good for a smoothie. Those things are sometimes upwards of 600 calories. And chocolate bars are often over 700 calories. So a 300-calorie treat doesn't sound to bad to me. The part that does sound bad though is the mint. I've never been a huge mint fan--I tend to like it in savory dishes (and in mojitos :hat:) more than in desserts --and I really don't like the combination of mint and chocolate.

Today is going to be tough. I have a lunch meeting and will have to be off-plan for it (unfortunately, there's no way I can bring my own food). It will be a buffet and I should be able to make some okay choices, but it is all going to have more oil and more sugar than I normally eat. I don't think lunch will be too high in calories, but the extra sugar is likely to make me want to eat everything in the house when I get home. Plus, already I'm starting to have the "well, I was off-plan for lunch, might as well eat whatever I want" thoughts and I haven't even had lunch yet. And I'm not working out until 7 PM, so I can't even just take myself over to the gym and work out for an hour or so to quell the cravings. I can tell I will be white-knuckling it all afternoon (either that, or eating a lot of stuff I shouldn't).

Nope. Link shoed up in the pre post but not in the actual post

??? Don;t know what I did wrong.

Tamsie 02-21-2008 07:39 PM

Dagmar.. try this... go to user control panel. choose edit profile. scroll down and it has a spot for adding your diet blog. I'm assuming you set one up on 3FC, right?

probably just type dagmar into the blank and that should work. It'll show up under your avatar as a link, like mine.

Hope that helps!

srmb60 02-21-2008 07:42 PM

Ask in the announcements and forum help threads, Dagmar. Someone will know how. Enquiring minds want to see it!

Mudpie 02-22-2008 05:49 AM

I think I did it!

Et voila - mon blog - NOT! I just can't seem to figure this out. I can navigate to my bolg and sign in, see it and change it, and I had someone comment in it when I first set it up. Now the name of my blog is no longer displaying on the blogs list.

I am lost in blogspace!

that's what I hate about DIY internet stuff. If I follow all the directions and something goes wrong I can't backtrack and fix it 'cause I didn't know what I was doing in the first place. And there is no tech support person to talk it through with either.

Nope - not displaying page. Sh*t!

Morning Dagmar!

Hi everybody. One more shift and I'm off for two days in a row. Have I mentioned lately that we need nurses in rural Ontario?
