Default 7 Dwarfs

Apparently the 7 dwarfs have overcome my house. First I was sleepy, now I'm hungry! I only have 600-something calories left for the day (ouch) and I haven't had dinner. I drank like 3 glasses of water so I'm not thirsty. And I noshed on some carrots, but my tummy is still rumbling. I will NOT go for the junk food...I will NOT go for the junk food...

Don't you think you can plan a dinner around 600 calories?

have a small snack with some protein preferably in the 70 calorie range

I am a big dinner gal myself, but you can do dinner on 530.

A small snack will help you not overeat your dinner

600 calories is a lot! My entire calorie limit for the day is 1200, so that's half my food intake for the day (and I sure don't save half my calories for dinner). You should absolutely be able to have dinner and a snack on 600 calories.

I peeked at your fitday.

There are a lot of foods in your journal that are caloric and not terribly filling

Try adding more veggies to your diet and more protein.

The snackpak, popcorn and peanut butter snack crackers are all areas that you could probably get more oomph for the calories. I know the popcorn is not terribly caloric...but for some reason popcorn and baby carrots to me make me ravenous, so its somethign to experiment with.

I just wanted to give you an example of getting more oomph. Yesterday for lunch I had 1 oz (dry wt.) cooked barilla rotini pasta (about 1/2 cup cooked), 2 oz leftover cooked pork tenderloin. In a pan I sauteed about 3/4 cup each mushroom and onion, 1/2 a red pepper. When they were tender I added 1/2 cup jarred spag sauce and about 2-3 cups raw baby spinach until the spinach is wilted.

This made a HUGE bowl. It took up an entire pan. About 4 cups of food. This was 300 calories. Real food. About the same number of calories as the snack pack and the crackers and the popcorn.

Well, the popcorn was literally a handful from the 100 calorie bag my DD ate for her snack. I estimated the best I could, 'cause you can't really put 15 popcorn pieces in there. My journal for today isn't really complete, either. I haven't had much time to add in my dinner, which was a huge serving of stir-fried veggies (among other things). And I allowed for 600 calories because I'm PMS'ing and I really, really wanted some ice cream after dinner. Which I had.

P.S. I know I need to eat more veggies. I'm trying to get out of eating the same 10 veggies I usually eat. I'm not a huge veggie person, so I'm doing the best I can, day by day. Oh, and I know some people are against foods like the 100 calorie snack packs, but IMO, that varies from person to person, and for me, I'm not going to cut things like that completely out of my diet. Like I said, I'm PMS'ing, and these are the kind of foods I like when I'm PMS'ing, as opposed to a "really good quality dark chocolate" like most people suggest (I don't like dark chocolate). IMO, it's better for me to use 100 calories on something that will keep me happy, as opposed to not having it, and eating everything under the sun later, which could happen while I'm PMS'ing.

I post my recipes on my blog, and most of my meals are under 500 calories (I aim for 400 or a little over). You can definitely do it - hope it worked out for you!!!

No one said you can't eat 100 calorie stuff. Your original post said you were hungry and suggestions were made that could fill you up more for the same or less calories.

yes, the 100 calorie packs are fine. And the peanut butter crackers are fine. But having both of them in one day uses a lot of calories without much filling.
