Default Starting AGAIN

So here i am having to start the diet all over again. i was on it and doing good but then i missed my af and thought i might be pregnant, so i stopped...and ate pretty much whatever i wanted. Now that i know i'm not, i have to begin again in order to increase the chances of conceiving. i have a ways to go and since every other problem has been ruled out medical-wise, the doc thinks my weight could be the problem. Some women can get pregnant at any weight, others have a better chance if they are really healthy. That's the group i'm stuck in. Add to that the fact that i'm in my mid 30's, and i have to pretty much lose it now.

Wish me luck, please. i know i'll need all the support i can get.

Ummm ... coupla thoughts here ...
A doctor told you that 157 lbs might be too heavy to conceive? at 5'6"???

What diet were you on that is not healthy enough to stay on if you're pregnant?

We'll help you think this one through.

We've been trying for awhile and i mc last month at only 5 weeks. When i said i stopped dieting i meant i started eating whatever, whenever. Just living on 1200 calories isn't good for a growing baby, so i gave it up. In any case, 157 may not be as way out there as 250, but it's still considered overweight and if i can get a handle on the weight now, i will have enough control to not eat everything in sight when i'm pregnant and end up at 250 again.

I bring glad tidings...your BMI is 25.3 right now, so you are only 5lbs away from being "a healthy weight"...so it shouldnt be a big factor in your being able to conceive?

115lbs and 5ft 6ins = BMI 18.6, which is mighty low and is considered by many to be either underweight (if you go by the "Good BMI is 19-25" rule) or damn close (if you go by the "Good BMI is 18.5-25" rule). To honest, you may well be too THIN to get pregnant at 115lbs.

I appreciate the hypocrisy here, but ..I don't want a baby! Iwish you luck and I don't want to stick my fat ole nose in too much, but I'd have thought about 140lbs would be pretty good, near the middle of healthy weight for height.

1800 cals would be a nicer healthy balance. What does that doctor think you should do?

Thinny thighs: I am also 5'6 and was 115 when I got pregnant (but I was also 20 yrs old and still had an adolescent-looking body!). I am also in my mid-30's and 115 would look too thin on me now. I'd look like one of these worn out Hollywood-types with the sags and bags at that weight! If you're like me, A good, healthy weight for you would be 125-140 (125-130 for vanity weight).

i think 125 would probably be good. Considering i have a DD chest, i would probably look way out of proportion at 115. That sort of attention i don't need. Besides, 32 lbs to lose looks like an easier goal than 40something.

If you are having trouble getting pregnant and your doctor is blaming it on a weight of 157, you need a new doctor.

If you have been trying to conceive for 12 months without success, see a fertility specialist.

This Dr. IS a fertility specialist. One of the best around. i've already been through all the tests and there is no medical reason at all for the infertility. Especially since i've already had 2 children ( long ago ). i was pg but mc at 5 weeks last month. Dr. blamed it on the weight. That's all i have to go by since there is no other explanation.

Honestly, that's BS... You really should change doctors... I'm no pregnancy specialist, but I can say with confidence that your weight is NOT causing you to mc. Sometimes mc just happens because the baby is not developing properly. There are many thinkgs that have to happen in a developing fetus, and if any one tiny reaction/change doesn't happen the pregnancy will abort, it doesn't mean that something has to be medically wrong with you. I really hope things work out in your favor...

I wish you the best of luck. But I also agree with these ladies... you are not obese... your weight isn't THAT bad... I can't imagine it's hindering you. Obviously, you CAN get pregnant.

i guess i'm just trying to rule out everything. My thought is that we're just missing ov somehow. Still want to hit the 125 goal though, either way. Baby or not, i don't feel good being this size.

I have a neice who is 23. She and her husband prepared for months. She ate a well balanced diet, exercised and took multivitamins. She may have lost 4 or 5 lbs. She certainly looked well rested and healthy.
I think that's how the young folks do it these days. Good preparation. There's no better fertile ground for growing a baby than a relaxed healthy body.

This is the first time I have ever heard of a 5 week miscarriage being blamed on weight.

Sorry if I came off abrasive, but if he really told you that a 5 week miscarriage was caused by your weight, I stand by my original opinion. See if you can get a second opinion.

Good luck to you and I am sorry for your loss.

I hear you on the DD chest and proportions.

I'm 34E and 128lbs now...I still want to be 118lbs but my breasts never seem to shrink when I lose weight, I'mgonna look like/I look like Lara Croft, and I don't say that in a GOOD way necessarily!!
