Your bag of stuff sounds pretty good to me, SusanB. I should have you pack me a bag!
|
I have to get some groceries tomorrow Abby. Can I grab a few things for you?
|
;)Susan, grab me some 'not into food today' ... I could use a little bit of that vibe, as it is a super rare feeling for me.
It's about 96 here today in good ole' Virginia, and that does NOT include the heat index which is well over 100. Phew. Abby - sounds like you are doing a great job of being back on track! Keep it up |
Aqua-take L-Lysine for your canker sores. It's a vitamin (well I think it's actually some kind of amino acid or something like that but you find it in the vitamin aisle) and it really works. You should take it every day but when I forget & I feel one coming on I just take a few throughout the day and it really helps. :)
|
Aqua~I've heard that if you put milk of magnesia right on the canker sore it will heal faster and it helps with the pain also.
|
Well I just finished dinner. Not real great, as it was a frozen On-Cor Partners main course (240 cal., 13 grms of fat per serving) :o . I added some beets and peas to dinner and ended up at 1110 calores and 30 grams of fat for the day. I know that's a little low but I'm just getting back on plan and think I "Under did it" today.
I'll work on getting my 1200 to 1400 calories in tomorrow. I am feeling much more positive today and that's a good thing ;) |
So I'm happy with how I did today! I strayed off track yesterday, but got right back on today, and I'm proud of myself. I'm not sure if my four pound loss from last week, was actually a four pound loss, so I'll try not to be too disappointed if I'm not below that when I weigh in again on Monday...I woke up really thirsty that day, so it could have been that I was just SO EMPTY, that I weighed 4 pounds less. In any case, like everybody has been saying, its the big picture that counts...I will be happy if I am below my starting weight, and to tell you the truth, I am just feeling so good! I feel like I have been eating mighty healthy. I'm actually really proud this week, because AF is due to visit next week, and I usually get the most horrendous cravings before hand. I think eating healthier all around has helped me manage those cravings (I haven't really had any bad ones!) and even helped me stay in a positive mood. Anyways, I'm rambling a lot. Tomorrow evening will be hard, as friends are coming in from out of town and they want to go out for sushi - this in itself wouldn't be a bad choice, but its an all you can eat place, so I'm going to have to exhibit great self restraint! I'm planning on having a relatively light day food wise, and then splurging just a little bit at dinner. I also got my new turbojam videos today in the mail, and I'm excited to start using them! I'll probably start on friday, as tomorrow I have to be at work for 7:30, so I won't really have to time to work out before I go (then it will be a busy evening when I get home).
Good night everybody, I'm off to do pushups! |
I didn't even eat everything in my bag. I did have a sandwich for supper and I'm eating a fruit pop thingee right now. A bit low for a change. Dunno.
|
Morning all!! Today is not supposed to be as hot as yesterday. Thanks goodness!!! But I will have 2 MORE kids today... one all day, one for just a couple of hours. Nine kids, and me. I'm way outnumbered! But it's all good :)
The scale again read 135.5 A lot saddening but could be worse. That 133 the other day was such a NICE feeling!! I will keep drinking lots of water... and not "stealing" a chip here and there...or a handful...like I did yesterday. Salt n vinegar too, so I'm hoping there's some water weight there from the sodium.... any truth to that??? Have a great day!! |
Good morning! I am sooo enjoying Meg's book discussion "Rethinking Thin". Although I found the book disheartening I'm very much enjoying discussing it with others.
We have some intelligent, thoughtful and wise folks here at 3FC. |
Allison: I always seem to have a certain food craving going on....I've been through the slim jim phase, yoo-hoo, ranch doritos and cream cheese...the list goes on. Right now it is black licorice! Just reading your post makes me want to run out and get some Good and Plenty's! YUM
Everyone: I have actually been SOP this week! The scale hasn't moved down yet...but it hasn't moved up either ;) |
Alice in Chains? Tool? Alexis on Fire? .... methinks someone has been using my mp3 ....
|
So, i started again yesterday and did really good. Still doing good today. Just have to take it day by day and not think about next week.
|
I thought yesterday was an ok day until I put it in fitday. Not a great day, but an ok day. jeeeezow.
Well maybe that will be the kick in the pants I need to start using fitday again. |
I did a little shopping and now my bag contains baby carrots, grapes, yogurt, part skim mozzarella, broccoli, cauliflower and I'm going to make my own sandwich. FF turkey, ps cheese, lettuce on whole wheat.
If you can get here before 2:30, I'll share. |
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well this week. Have any of you had the bran muffins from Trader Joe's? They are little (maybe 4-5 bites) and very bran-y tasting (which is fine with me), but they are great as a light breakfast or snack. I buy the apple cranberry flavor and eat them with a little light whipped cream cheese... only 80 calories and whopping 13 grams of fiber for one of those tiny things! A good way to get fiber in!
It's another scorcher here. I may have to break down and go to the gym, which I hate, but it's pretty hot for moving outside. Have a great day! |
Susan That's on my list of books to buy/read (I still have a small stack of half-reads on my nightstand to pave through), but I've read Gina Kolata's stories on NY Times -- she's a smart health journalist.
Treigh Yep, any salty foods will have the water retaining effect. Keep low on the sodium for awhile and drink lots of water! Yesterday I did my first real yoga class with Mom, VERY relaxing after the 4+ mile run I did, which was more exhausting than usual given the hot weather. And finally, did a post-shower weigh-in this morning... 140.4!!! So close to my current goal, and 2 weeks ahead too!!! :hyper: Anyways, busy day at work so will check in with y'all later :) |
Susan~I swear it wasn't I that took your iPod, but I do like those choices!
Claire~the last time I bought muffins from Trader Joe's, they got all moldy by the second day. I decided not to buy them any more which is probably a better idea for me anyway. micheline~yum! Good & Plenty! I actually got a tub of licorice at Trader Joe's, big hunks of soft licorice. Oh, is it decadent! ennay~I know what you mean! I thought I was doing well until I plugged it into fitday, too. Must have been that licorice! Tracy~good luck with all the kids! And no chips! thinnythighs~you can do it!!! Good luck staying on track. Today sure started out crazy! 2 hours inputting a contract into our "system". I think I finally understand what goes into each estimate, proposal and contract (at least I hope I understand!). Everyone have a great On Plan day! |
Yesterday I was at a business conference. They had the usual croissants and other incredibly caloric breakfast pastries. Then at lunch they must have ten (10!!!) differents kinds of cake...cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate mousse cake, German chocolate cake, black forest cake, devil's food cake, and on and on...which they left out all afternoon. And, in case the cakes weren't enough, they also had cookies...chocolate chip cookies, dipped in chocolate. And one of the exhibitors was handing out pie in their booth. Then mid-afternoon, they brought out a fridge filled with Haagen Daaz ice cream bars (but, of course, no Dreyers low calorie ice cream bars even though it would be just as easy to pick a few boxes of those). I swear, it is almost like they were trying to fatten us up! It wasn't a business conference; it was an orgy of dessert.
Amazing, I managed to abstain from all of the above. I drank a lot of decaf coffee. But the lunch was awful and I had to eat. Salad (but with only high-calorie dressing), pasta and potato salads (both in mayo-based dressing), baked beans, chicken dripping in barbeque sauce, some sort of red meat also in a high calorie sauce and with those fried onion things that come in cans, sausage, giant corn muffins, and giant baked potatoes (white, of course) with only butter, cheese, and sour cream for toppings (well, I guess there were chives, too, I don't know how something so low in calories snuck in there). Not a single grilled or roasted veggie in sight. I did the best I could. walking2lose, I have had those fiber cakes from Trader Joes (although I preferred the blueberry). They are especially good if you pop them in the microwave for about 30 seconds and top them with a little non-fat cream cheese. At one point my TJ's ran out of them though and I started making my own Fiber One Muffins and I have to say that I like the muffins much better. They are lower in fiber, but also lower in calories. When I make them, I sub baking powder for the baking soda, skim milk for the buttermilk, and pumpkin puree for the applesauce. I leave out the raisins, but add 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice and sometimes add fresh blueberries or chopped cherries. |
Wallowing in chocolate, cookies, ice cream
I'm glad everyone else is doing quite well this week.
I have given up for the moment and am just eating and eating and eating :barf:. Trying to make the government's destruction of my job go away. I know it's not working but I don't feel like doing anything except maybe crying my eyes out for about a week :tantrum:. I usually get over my drama in about 3 days so should be back to dieting/posting by next week. We have a long weekend here so I will just hide until next Tuesday. have a good weekend all Dagmar :tired: |
And that, my friends, is the end of my six day stretch. I'm weary! Since it's a long weekend, I told them I'd come in if need be. But I'm praying not! Ugh.
And just who decided nurses need pizza just because it's a holiday? |
Okay, Friday to Friday, down 1 1/2 pounds - woot woot!
Now of course we have the long holiday weekend, full of parties and barbecues and out-of-town guests. . . I don't think I'm gonna see that 139 by my birthday! |
Well Allison, you're a way cooler Mom than me. I went and bought a Creative Zen Stone ... bright pink! ... Serendipity, it was on sale! The lad, who likes the raucus stuff he put on mine, can just keep it!
But I'll have to listen one more time while my new one charges. |
Barbara: I'm so proud of you for passing up all the goodies. You're a stronger woman than I am!
Mudpie: Don't fall into the trap....just remember it will take you at least twice as many days of calorie-cutting to make up for all those snack days! (believe me, I know from experience :)) Go buy yourself a nice outfit or some new makeup or something instead! I bought some Quaker breakfast cookies at around 200 cals each but 4g of fiber...they are pretty yummy! (my hubby says they taste like cardboard) Maybe I have been eating so much crappy diet food lately that anything tastes good!!! My ticker moved back to 147!!! (Lowest weight in a long time!) Mini goal is 142...gonna make a mini-goal ticker today! |
I was 129 for a seond day in a row(actually it was a bit under 129 but I say 129 until I see a solid 128). Did my errands now I have to do some housework and I hope my leg will let me do lunges this afternoon.
|
I got a new toy, too, Susan! I bought a new digital camera. DD decided my old Canon digital must accompany her to China. Well, I'm not about to take a disposable to Hawaii on my trip! Got a really cute little Casio camera and frankly it is tons better! The Canon is only 2 years old and cost $450. This one was only $179 and has 7.2 megapixels (Canon has 5) and it has all these really cool preset things to help take the perfect picture in any situation! So much easier to understand, too!
|
Susan Hopefully you don't get called in, you need the rest (and probably caffeine too :D)
Allison Wow! Great camera (one of those things I wanna buy when I saved enough) -- the one I have is a clunky and big 3 megapixel from 2003 - I think that one costed around $300. Everytime I see one of those mini-digitals being whipped out from people's pocket, I get a little green inside ;) -- mine's as "pocket portable" as 3 decks of playing cards. CM Congrats on hitting and staying at 129 -- I was not so lucky with my 140 figure yesterday... today I'm 141.2 (but I weighed myself post breakfast & LOTS of water from exercise). |

Barbara~too true! I have gotten so used to fat free Kraft mayo that I can't handle the real thing any longer! However, there is one fat free or low fat item that I never have gotten a taste for--sour cream. I love it too much and the fake versions taste like skim milk with flour mixed in to thicken it! I am trying to move to ff Greek yogurt in lieu of sour cream, but I just haven't braved it on my Mexican food yet! LOL
|
allinell, sour cream is another thing that I haven't eaten in so long, I think I've forgotten what it tastes like. I cannot go through even a small tub of sour cream before it goes bad, so I refuse to buy it. Most of the time I just don't bother with it and don't miss it. If I do want the flavor of sour cream, I use TJ's nonfat Greek yogurt (even on Mexican food) and I swear, I cannot tell the difference.
And that Greek yogurt is my go-to food. I love it; it's possible I'm developing some sort of addition to it. I use it on cereal instead of milk; in sauces instead of sour cream; in tuna, egg, and salmon salads instead of mayonnaise; and today I'm going to eat it on oatmeal instead of milk. And of course I eat it straight. I swear, soon I'll be spreading it on sandwiches and stirring it into my coffee. |
Barbara and Allison, yes, isn't it funny how we get used to our own food? This is kind of off topic, but what you're talking about reminds me of my experience earier this week. I got sucker punched into eating at Golden Corral Monday night of this week (I was at the beach staying with friends, and it was their choice. As the guest, I couldn't get out of it). Now, I have never been a Golden Corral and could only actually remember going there about once in the last decade, but still I thought, well, surely they'll have a fantastic salad bar and lots of veggies and things. It was a horrendous experience! I was actually kinda grossed out just looking at the food and by the smell of the place. Of course everything was just swimming in butter and grease. Flies abounded near and on the food, kids were screaming, but people were just eating it up (literally and figuratively). Ugh. I kept thinking of what I could've been having at home instead - ugh again.
Also, Barbara - thanks for the muffin recipe. I'm going to try it. Although I will buy the TJ ones again. I didn't have the mold problem, but I did keep them in the fridge. DH and I each ate one for 3 days straight and they were gone. Good breakfast or snack. Aqua - sounds like you are doing great! I'm sure the extra lb. this morning was water weight. Canadian Mom - Congrats to you too... so close to goal!!! I have had a good week. I'm still maintaining at 138, but I believe I'll see a drop next week. I worked out a lot this week, and except for the golden Coral night, eating/calories were pretty good too. |
Yay! Weekend is finally upon us -- anyways, I felt a bit tired after work today so I took a nap (fortunately, I got my day's exercise out of the way in the morning, because I thought I was gonna hit the town tonight.)
Also ate a little over plan today -- 1,800... not superbad, but probably enough to offset the burn from exercising, oh wells, guess I was over-excited about eating solids again after days of mooshy stuff due to my canker sores - tomorrow is another day & attempt at this (though for the week I think I averaged 1,600, given how I ate below-normal during my "mooshy food" phase) I also got my order of vitamuffins (yes, I succumbed to the ad on these forums... my indirect way of supporting 3FC :D) -- they're not as good as Penny's Low Fat Muffins (even though these are 80-100 compared to Penny's 100-135), kinda bland on the flavors. |

I've just had the most ridiculous breakfast :( Anyhow, I've realised that the day is salvageable so I'm going to plan the rest of the day, read and post here and check some non American sites that might be active as you guys appear to have a holiday weekend. I don't knw why I ate what I just did - especially since the scale said 143.0 this morning. I don't know how it said that either especially after the weeks I've had. |
Don't avoid us! Just pop in and say good morning even.
|
Hmmm...
I thought I was doing ok this week, put a preliminary weigh in showed me UP 3lb!!!! Unacceptable! So now I'm tweaking. I think it's time to micro-manage my eating and add another 30 min to my exercise routine when time allows. So now I'm into calorie counting... My attempts to plan so far have been an abysmal failure so I'm going to try calorie counting until I know and memorize what a 300 calorie meal looks like. Today's breakfast was 300 cal and it didn't look a whole lot like what I've been eating! Live and learn, at least I'm faithful to the workouts! cuppa |
Looking for support
Hello,
I woke up this morning asking for a support group as I get back on track with my eating and exercising. I'll give this a try. 10 years ago, I implemented the Fit For Life eating plan and I LOVED it! For me it is excellent, as no matter what I eat, I feel light in my belly and full of energy. For me, feeling light in my belly is crucial as I have so much judgement and focus on that area of my body. Feeling light in the belly, removes the judgement like nothing else I have tried. So, I really want to get back to that way of eating. I am doubtful that I will follow through. So far, so good. I had a bowl of fruit salad this morning. I plan on making a fruit shake before noon. Salad for lunch. For dinner, a vegetable juice cocktail, vegetable soup, chicken, veggies and salad. My biggest challenge will be around 3PM and after dinner. I plan on going for a bike ride around 3PM and after dinner, to get my scrapbooking project out (no TV!!) and maybe do some yoga poses. And if I am hungry, I will make myself yet another delicious fruit shake. Now only time will tell! Peace! Carolyn http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar013...lb/0/20/2/.png |
Can't find Fitday
Could someone please tell me how to get to the "fitday" set-up. I looked for it in all the profile stuff, FAQ's etc. but couldn't locate it.
I'm such a techie - NOT! Thanks, Dagmar :o |
Dagmar - visit fitday.com to set up an account.
On the homepage it says free online account - click there and it should walk you through the rest. Let me know if you get stuck. -S |
Dagmar~for fitday, go to www.fitday.com and register for the online version (you'll need to choose a user name and password). Once in you click on the links on the left to input your stats (height, weight, etc) and then click on the foods link and start looking for the food you eat. The activities link will allow you to enter your exercise each day.
Hope that helps! Clykk~Welcome!!!! You can do it! Don't doubt yourself! Look around at all the different areas here at 3FC and choose a plan that works for you. A lot of us are calorie counters, but there are a few Weight Watchers in this group, also. Come back here often for encouragement. We're all here to help! |
Thanks for the encouragement! The morning went off as planned. Now to lunch. 2 more hours and it will be 3 PM. Exercise. That's the plan. Not a Chai Latte.
