OH - major NSV today. I got a cool dri-fit tank top at my race last weekend. Now I am usually quite avoidant of the sleeveless top, but I didnt have any other cleanish workout tops for the gym today so I wore it. For the first time in my life I wore a tank and caught my reflection in the mirror and didnt wince. I dont have great arms, they still wave goodbye after I stop, but they are ALMOST good. Really quite respectable.

I'm about 5 days in to my new--dont count just focus on "is this food helping me train or hurting my training" and so far my weight is holding steady. Drive to binge is quite reduced.

Good afternoon everyone.

I slept for 7 hours today!! I needed that so badly. I was exhausted and my eyes looked horrible, like I was a zombie (which I guess I was!).

I just got up and ate turkey, green beans, squash and 2 pieces of bread and it was DELISH.

It is very dark & dreary here like it might rain. I have to work tonight 8pm-6am and then turn around and work 3pm-1am on Tuesday but then I'm off for my weekend! I have so much laundry piled up it is unbelievable. We have so many clothes though because we are not running out!

Aqua-good luck with your car. I hate and despise car problems so hope it's something simple.

Allison-good job in not gaining in Vegas. I just love to drink and eat too much while I'm there and unfortunately for me what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas!!

Ok, gotta run and maybe do some dishes and get dinner going before I leave for work. Hope everyone has a great week. Jane

Back on plan today. Ate pretty good and got some unexpected exercise too. With having a new car, I find myself parking way out in the parking lot so I don't get any door slams or scratches on it. This car could be good for my weight loss too

Allison-That's too bad about the time change on the wedding. When my daughter got married in Vegas (Tropicana) her wedding started right on time. Her Grandmother got there just as it was starting (due to traffic). They move those weddings along pretty quick. Maybe thats why they wanted to make sure that everyone was there on time. Hope you won some money while you waited .

Oh, by the way, my new Avatar picture was taken 2 years ago at our hotel in Las Vegas on my daughter's wedding weekend. I have lost 11 pounds since then and I hope to take a more current pic soon. I, like most women, am the picture taker so there aren't a lot of pictures of me (thank goodness) but I will have one taken soon.

I took Thursday and Friday off this week so with the holiday weekend I will have 5 days off in a row. Going to the race track Friday for Carburation Day, should be fun. I love it!

Anyway, Monday always feels like a new beginning, and so I am feeling really positive this week and plan to work hard.

Hope everyone had a great day

Weddings: I once was at a wedding that started 45 minutes late, but it was because the groom almost didn't show up. I think his brother had to go find him and make him come to his own wedding. That couple is divorced now.

Being Late: My SO is always late--I swear, it's like he is incapable of getting anywhere on time. I used to always be early, or at least prompt, but I think he's been a bad influence on me. I have started telling him we need to leave 15 min to a half hour before the time I really want to leave.

Bras: I have no idea what bra size I am, other than "really small." Mostly I just buy the stretchy ones that fit a variety of sizes. Sometimes I buy them in the juniors' dept--they are pretty much the only thing in that department that fit me...sigh. Ennay, when you figure out how to do that boob-to-boob transfusion, be sure to let me know!

Progress (or not): I thought I lost a lb last week and I was almost ready to change the weight listed in my profile but today the scale was back up 2 lbs. I haven't eaten anything that would account for a 2 lb increase so I think it must be water. I've been having trouble with some back pain and a pain in my butt (no, really, an actual pain in my butt) and I've been taking a lot of Ibuprofen, so maybe that's making me retain water. I'm really hoping to see a loss this week.

I've been having some pain in the butt too. I have been researching the internet on that and the most I came up with is the sciatic nerve. It's more common with runners (and I know you run, Barbara). I don't run but every time I do a lot of stretching or exercising I get pain in my lower buttocks for several days. Some people are more prone than others. I guess I'm one of them.

Anyway, they say not to over exercise the muscle and just take it easy for a little while and it will pass. They said if it hurts you shouldn't push it and take a break.

We find the place, walk in and it's VACANT. The wedding planner says to us, oh, that wedding is at 7:30. 7:30?!?!? What the? So we head across the parking lot to a smoky old pub/casino to kill some time. Turns out the person who made the invitations put 6:00 PM on purpose because some of the people who were invited are flaky and wouldn't be on time if the invitation said 7:30 (or even 7:00). I mean, how RUDE!!! And the worst part of it is that our friends KNEW that the invitations were made like this and didn't have the decency to tell us. Anyway, it was a nice wedding.
I find that rude and a bit weird, I've never heard of that...

Good morning dears! Yesterday was a holiday here. We went to Dh's sister's where a southern cousin made authentic Mexican food. It was fabulous! There is no way I can figure it out in fitday

The 21 day challenge was fun. Although I trod off the beaten path pretty badly, I lost 3 pounds. Just goes to show that you don't have to be perfect all the time.

NSV - "Non Scale Victory"

Down to my mother's day goal! So only a week late and losing on my new scary non-counting plan! I probably should remove my birthday goal as I think I am willing to take whatever comes but I will leave it there for now.

That is awesome Susan! Hopefully I can get this sabotaging thing under control.

I am also fairly certain I have been adding muscle and still losing fat lately.

"sciatica" is often the piriformis muscle swelling. Since it lies alongside or even around the largest nerve in our bodies, the sciatic nerve, it "pinches" the nerve and can cause pain even down the thigh and to calf. That may not be what it is at all, Barbara and abbyin, but do be suspicious of sitting in the same place/way all the time, change the position of bucket-seats in cars or sit on a pillow. (Men should put their wallets in their front pockets for a while.) Extra water to hydrate the muscle, and anti-inflamatories if you take them.

Susan! You lost a pound a week on your challenge you issued yourself! That's a very successful 21 days.

Did anyone else have good news out of their 21 days? I love hearing this stuff.

Arm congratulations to Ennay.

NSV is "non-scale victory".

My children wanted spiral macaroni and cheese yesterday or I think I would have had another half-pound down and gotten to change my ticker! I made the Kraft box with the better instructions (not so much butter and low-fat milk) but just having some with them was my mistake. Have you ever read those Kraft blue M and C boxes? Good grief, they're like a roadmap to weight gain.

Thanks for the info Abbyin and Whittlin. I really hope that it isn't my sciatic nerve--that sounds scary! Running and driving my car (I swear, I can never get that seat in a comfortable position, even when I'm not experiencing muscle pain--luckily I don't drive much) did both seem to aggravate it, but I think it is getting better. If it is worse after my workout today, I'll lay off running intervals on Thursday (it was when I was running intervals that I first noticed it, but it wasn't so bad that I had to stop running, just a minor annoyance). Sometimes I will experience pain in a muscle for a few days (a while ago it was my right calf) but so far it always goes away on its own. I'm hoping that will be the case here.

Congrats on your arm NSV, ennay! I love it when I look in the mirror at the gym and am pleased with what I see.

I also lost weight on my 21 day challenge. I think around 3 lbs, just like SusanB. Work got crazy and I stopped logging my progress, but I did stick with my rules for most of the 21 days (except for a couple of days when I was traveling).

I need a challenge... or a goal. Hmm...ok. Here is my new goal...to lose 4 lbs. before graduation. This will put me back at 136, which is where I was before I got into my major rut and gained, yes, about 4 lbs. It's been a tough rut to get out of... not sure totally why.

Ok, so I need to change my ticker -- gotta keep myself honest and accountable. So here I go to change it to 140 and post my goal. I know what I need to do -- between 1200-1400 a day, more water, more exercise, more sleep.

Congrats to all who are kicking butt -- Ennay (arms), Susan and Barbara - the challenge, Allison - holding even in Vegas, and everyone else!

Good afternoon everyone! I've been a lurker today....didn't feel like I had anything to say. Yesterday, without my assistant, was a VERY busy day!! Today is more like the norm, but I've not felt the need to post. Everything is normal, nothing new, nothing changed, so I don't know what to say!!

I'm winding down to the big night Saturday. My charity group does a huge party and fund raiser each spring and presents the graduating senior girls to the group (kind of like a coming out party or cotillion, but no dancing). This year I am one of the few in charge. Tomorrow we're meeting with the video production guy who does all the lights, music, video (showing some and recording the whole night) and a lot more. We've met with him several times during the past year, but this will be the final meeting where we'll have to make sure everyone is on the same page. Saturday a bunch of us will go to the convention center to set the room up (we do all the decorating). Then I hope to have 2-3 hours to go home, rest and shower before going back and greeting everyone. We have a silent auction and hope to raise $5000 for scholarships for deserving graduates. Its a big night and it's starting to show on my stress level!!

To everyone with sciatic pain: been there, done that! I used to have extreme pain when I sat for too long (like on a car ride). I'd been scanned (MRI) but it didn't show anything like a ruptured disk. Anyway, for whatever reason, the pain has gone away--I can't even remember the last time I had it! And it was BAD! I'd have pain from my lower back radiating down my butt and around to the front of my thigh. If I didn't get up and move around, my leg would often seize up to the point that I couldn't put weight on it. Very scary! I don't wish that on anyone.

Good for you, Barbara and Susan, for making your 21 day challenge!!!
