Default I have a few questions...

I just ordered the Fat Smash book because I have been reading the posts on this forum. I am determined. I just had a baby and want to lose the weight. I have about 35 lbs to lose. I would like to know if the diet is expensive? I have never seen Tofu in our market and we dont have a whole foods. Is the diet do able with a family of 5? Its just gonna be me. Do I need to buy any certain appliances? Blender, processor, grinder, ect? Thanks for your help ladies. I hope to start as soon as my book gets here. I am looking forward to the support.

Welcome!!!
I would say this diet can be expensive only because of the price of fresh veggies and fruit these days, and the only reason you'd really need a blender is if you plan on having smoothies or something like that.
Tofu is found around the fruit and veggie section of the grocery store here,I think if you ask someone at the local stores thay will be able to assist you with that, or maybe one of the others here can help??!!
Looking forward to getting to know you!Good Luck!

Crystal-

Do you have an Asian or International food market by you? Fresh Fruit and veggies are much cheaper there, I just discovered. I did spend a LOT on fresh fruit and veggies -- but we learned that frozen is just as good -- the nutrients are all still there and it's much cheaper!!!

Tofu sometimes is kept by the cheese. I know our "regular" markets have it (Safeway and Giant, as well as Harris Teeter).

I have no kids but my wife and I are following it, if that helps!

I too have about 35 to lose! GOOD LUCK!

I too have a family of 5. For breakfast I just make the kids their usual and make me an egg white omlet or oatmeal, both are easy and cheap. For lunch my kids eat at school so there no worry about making 2 different meals there. As far as dinner you can make stir fry for everyone and just take out your veggies before you add meat to theirs or you can make a regular dinner and just make good veggie side dishes and you can eat those and let everyone else have the meat with their sides. The friut and veggies are a little more expensive but I have found that it really balances out because I am buying way less meat, cheese and bread and no snack foods (crackers, cookies, etc). Good luck on your journey.

Crystal~ WELCOME!! I, too am trying to lose baby weight. I just got a late start. I had my baby 15 months ago. lol. I have to second the frozen veggies and fruits. Some things we still buy fresh. Like Apples, bananas, grapes, plums...etc. We have also resorted to canned veggies. They aren't as good, but better than nothing. Fresh is always best.. but frozen is almost as good.

We got a smoothie maker. That is the only appliance we bought. Dh like smoothies for breakfast.

We live in a small town. We only have 2 grocery stores. Neither one had tofu. Dh asked about it and one of the stores ordered it for us. I guess we are the only ones in this town eating it. lol. SO, it might help to ask if it can be ordered.

Since Dh and I are both following the FS plan... I don't have any trouble with cooking the meals. I do have a 15 month old. But, he is still on finger foods for the most part. He does eat most of what we eat. I do try to incorporate more grains into his diet. He is supposed to be having 6 servings a day. Other than that... I don't do much different for him.

Good Luck!

Are you sure its really YOU writing this and not ME? Ok, I gotta fess up. I JUST had a baby 19 months ago. I also live in a small town but we do have a walmart and maybe I can find it there. There is no whole foods or Aisan market but we do have a farmers market. I will have to check that out. I dont eat much meat but I am a coffee drinker. I have never eaten the yellow of an egg so I am good there. I guess I need to put it all into play. I am excited to start, I wish the darn book would get here already.

It is very expensive, which is why after three and half weeks I went back to weight watchers, but after two and 1/2 weeks on weight watchers I am back to my old habits and eating like crazy. The one thing this diet helped me realize is I just cannot eat sugar I am an addict. Once I start eating sugar I can't stop. I gained back three of the eight pounds I lost but I am back on Phase 1 again today...I would rather be broke than fat, LOL

I found that my grocery bill dropped in half I started shopping for veggies at the farmers markets, and not much is cheaper than rice. I also watch the sunday sale papers for good deals on produce, and make my menus based on what looks freshest at the market.

You don't have to have a Whole Foods store to buy and eat whole foods. All supermarkets sell whole, fresh veggies and fruits. While I don't do the Fat Smash Diet per se, the prinicples are similar to what I do and my grocery bill has gone down quite a bit since I started. I mainly cut out processed foods, and those are usually pretty pricey.
