Just ended P1 and Beginning P2

I am new to here so I hope I am doing this right.

I just finished Phase 1 and beginning Phase 2 and have lost 12 pounds :) I found it so very easy to do. Some of the people at work have asked what I have been doing and some are now going to buy the book. Even though I can eat meat now, I find I am not really craving it and in fact made a veggie soup using no fat veggie broth, black beans, kidney beans, onions, carrots and chiles. It is soooooooo good. I measure out some brown rice to go with it and yummy :) I am glad to have found this website. It's a great place for ideas, recipes and support :)

Hey all,

Welcome to all of the new Smashers!

I have lost 3 more lbs!! YES! That makes a total of 9 for me. Today is the start of week 2 in phase 2. My official weigh in isn't until Thursday... but I couldn't wait. I felt thinnner. lol. Dh has lost 12 lbs to date.

Menu:

B~ 1/2 c. oatmeal w/cinnamon and splenda, banana

L~ 6 oz. yogurt, 1 c. grapes

S~ small apple

D~ 1 c. brown rice, 1 c. northern beans, tomato slices and cucumber slices

S~ small apple

I am AMAZED when I look at what I ate. I would have never thought that I would be full on such a small amount of food. I used to eat SOOOO much. But, I was eating the wrong things.

I've been gradually cutting out refined carbs and stuff like that over the past week while I waited for my book to be returned. Tuesday was my first real day on the plan and it went really well. I made the Carrot Soup from the recipe provided in the book and it was very good. It made quite a bit too so I refrigerated some of the leftovers and froze some as well. I've also been freezing leftovers from stirfry and veggie chili so on those days when I get home late or am just lazy I won't be tempted to eat things that aren't on track. :)

Tuesday's Menu

B: 2 egg whites scrambled w/ 1 cup veggies (onion, pepper, and mushroom)
S1: apple
L: 1/2 cup brown rice w/ 2 cups veg stirfry
D: 1.5 cups carrot soup w/ 1/2 cup brown rice with hot sauce
S2: 2 cups skim milk w/ a little almond extract for flavor

Hoping Wed. is just as good!:D

Good Morning, Friends! Technically, this is Day 9 on Phase 1, but I may hold out a few more days on Phase 1. I've really got nothing going on this week, and we may head down to my parents house for this weekend. I guess in my mind, the few extra days would give me a little cushion, just in case! I'm currently wearing a pair of jeans I haven't ever been able to fit into. I'm one of those type of folks who buys jeans thinking they will fit, and when they don't, won't return them because "Oh, I'll just loose the 2-3 pounds it will take to fit into them." We ALL know it's a boat-load more than 2-3 pounds...I still haven't jumped on the scale yet to find out exactly how much since I started "Smashing." I think I will tomorrow.

I have to agree with other posters in that I'm actually nervous to add back foods on Phase 2! When I read that, I first thought that sounded pretty goofy. But now that I'm at that point, I totally agree! Although, it's going to make eating with hubby a whole lot easier! I guess I'm just going to ease into it.

I tell you what...Those chocolate chip cookie samples at the grocery store last night didn't smell nearly as good as they used to (and no, I didn't have one!!!). Oh, and when my hubby was eating crackers with margarine, jelly and peanutbutter (a former favorite snack for both of us) I darn near puked right there in the kitchen. What is wrong with me???!!! Is this in my head? Is it a mind-over-matter thing? I PRAY PRAY PRAY that it is REALLY working and I can keep this going, because I feel different. I can't really put my finger on it. But something is definitely different...Good different...

And now, the menu for today, so far:
Breakfast (8:30): Yogurt and grapes
Early Lunch (11:00): 1/2 brown rice, 1 cup frozen veggie mix (carrots, peas, corn, beans), 1/2 cup kidney beans
Early Snack (2'ish?): Carrots
Dinner: Haven't got that far yet...

Have a wonderful day, everyone! :balloons:

Hi Everyone!

I have been on Fat Smash for just about a month! I can't believe I have made it this far! So far so good! I am in Phase 2, but went back to Phase 1 for a week to see if I could lose a few extra pounds. It worked! I am down another 4 lbs.! I will continue to bounce between Phase 2 and Phase one until I have lost another 30 lbs. or so.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

~Kristy

Great job Kristy!

I'm back on Phase I. So far I am on plan today, and it is GREAT! It makes me wonder WHY I would wreck my progress by eating junk??

Bbobsgrl- I have not tried any tofu yet, what kind do you buy and how do you prepare it. I tried cooking it once in chili and it was HORRIBLE. But I think it was the cooks fault!!

Brandilynn ~~ I don't remember the brand name, but I'll check when I get home from work. I picked mine up at Walmart. There were several brands and textures (soft, firm)...I decided to go with the "firm". Since I had never prepared it before, I just treated it like chicken. I washed, dried, seasoned and then stir fried it with the other ingredients. I was thinking it would be horrible, but the meal turned out to be pretty good. My finicky 17 y/o even tried it and liked it.

I'm not sure how it should be prepared for chili. I'll check around to see if I can find out more info.

Daily Check-in

I made my smoothie this morning without the whey protein. I used 6 oz yogurt, 6 oz skim milk, 1/2 banana and a few ice cubes. It was soooo good. So I'm eliminating the whey protein for now.

This is an embarrassing question, but what the heck. Has anyone else experienced excessive gas? I feel bloated this morning and I'm trying to decide what I need to do. Has anyone used Beano? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well today was my weigh in day. 1/2 pound that is it...not sure what I am doing wrong, I am not cheating other than the IHOP on Friday night...and I didn't eat much at all that day so that couldnt' have done. Think my body is resisting and usually week 2 is when I cave in on other plans so this is a test, plus I have been weighing everyday and up until today it was a 2lbs loss, so who knows. I am a little frustrated but I am going to go to phase 1 for a couple of days and pump up my workouts and not weigh at all until next Wed and see what happens, ugh...

Jen415 09-20-2006 04:28 PM

bbobsgrl: no gas for me really, but I have been dashing to the potty more from eating the fruit!

Chicks: hang in there sweetie....Dr. Ian says in his book that it wouldn't hurt to go back on Phase I to help break the plateau....

P1 Day 4

It feels like I've been doing this longer than 4 days. It's not too bad though. I really like my veggie chilli, and I think that it will be a new staple. I still have to post it - sorry - I will get it done soon. Yesterday went well despite not feeling too great. I got in a 45min run and ate spot on!

bbobsgrl - I also have noticed a lot more gas. It must be all the beans and veggies. :o

Kristy J. - Keep it up! That's awesome!!

I plan on doing some strength training tonight.

6am 6oz LF Yogurt & Banana
8am Grapefruit, 4 egg whites & 1/2c each brown rice black beans
10:30am Apple, 1/2c each brown rice black beans

Hi ALL! I had an ok day today. We had to bid jobs at work today and I ended up staying at work and was totally not prepared. So considering I ate breakfast and lunch out, I think I did ok, even thought I didnt get my rice or oatmeal in.

B(530am) apple and banana
L(10:30) bowl french onion soup with NO cheese or croutons
S(12:00) apple and side salad with no dressing
D(5:00) Vegtable soup and 6 oz Low fat yogurt
S(Later tonight) cantaloupe

bbobsgrl- I too have been dealing with the gas

Chicks- Are you eating every enough?? Like every few hours.

Kristy J- Congrats!! I have only been on the plan for a little over two weeks and I noticed a definite slow down when I added meat back, So I started back on phase 1 mostly and right away Im losing faster again..and feel better without the meat honestly.

Fluffy- Way to go!! And Welcome! It's amazing how you feel isnt it. This is the first time I can actually push my plate away before Im full and save the rest for another meal

Morningstar makes a great fake meat crumble product. Comes in a bag like frozen veggies-and it's in the frozen food section. I've actually eaten it as a ground beef substitute and didn't really notice the difference. It does anything that ground beef does. Hope this helps!

Well today was not as good yesterday. I didn't stray very far from the plan as far as foods, tho I did have 1/2 cup of sorbet (no dairy) because I went to a different town for a drs appt and they have this shop that makes the best ice creams/ sorbet EVER with lots of fresh and local produce, so it's all real fruit. However, I did not eat as many meals as I would have liked to today as I was running around a lot. I went out to dinner tonight tho and did very well...just 2 salads from the salad bar, w/ vinegar. I would not even touch the greasy appetizers my friends ordered. Honestly, the salads looked wayy better. Hopefully tomorrow I can fit in some more meals.

Menu
B: 1 scrambled egg white w/ 1/2 cup veggies
S1: 1/2 cup sorbet (combination of fresh nectarine, anjou pear, and sicilian blood orange...yum!)
D: 2 salads w/ balsamic vinegar
S2: 2 cups skim milk
