I'm so close to being done with phase 1 on efs, but I have NO motivation to exercise today, plus we're having dinner with my guys aunt and uncle. Though, carry 60lbs of new textbooks to my car was quite a workout in itself. I don't know, I just wish I could get into exercising more. Next week we'll be house sitting for his aunt and uncle, and they have a bowflex, treadmill, the firm, and plenty of tapes. Hopefully, I'll stay occupied with those!

GoalDown50 08-20-2007 09:32 AM

Good morning girls, and may i say... happy monday! I had a horrible day yesterday! After a healthy breakfast, my fiance, sister, and her boyfriend all drove to a mall and i ended up getting a beef and cheddar sandwich and curly fries from Arby's (i thought i'd cheat alil) but let me tell you...im sorry that i did...from the time i finished eating the meal til late last night (and alittle this morning) i had a really bad stomach ache! I think its the worse ive had in months! i felt so sick and wanted to cry! the night before i had been drinking (i know, bad me) at a club...but the good thing about that, is i was dancing and sweating up a storm so i burned off the alcohol!

lets just say i learned my lesson...no more greasy foods!!! good thing is i sneaked a peek at the scale and im down 2 lbs! i weigh in on wed. hope to see a better number...but know it might not b because of TOM

Spacy Stacy 08-20-2007 11:54 AM

The same thing happened to me, GoalDown50! I went to Claim Jumper and shared appetizers with my girlfriends ... and all of Sunday I felt like I had a hangover from drinking too much beer! It was horrible! Then I forgot about my mild egg allergy and had a few hardboiled eggs yesterday ... so I'm *still* paying for my Saturday slip!

But, I did weigh in on Saturday morning and have lost another 1.5 pounds! I'm going to have to work out a bit extra between today and next Saturday to make sure the bad things I ate work their way out!

willsmashfat 08-20-2007 12:28 PM

I got on the scale this a.m. but wish I hadn't. After 3 days of Cycle 1 of EFS, I am up 2 lbs. But I am going to try to forget that and keep on going and weigh on Friday at the end of Cycle 1. It is not TOM but since I am eating more carbs than pre-EFS, it could be extra water thant I am holding in my cells. If so, it should take a few days to re-balance. I am determined to stick with it and be part of the successful people here.

Dreamdancer 08-20-2007 04:42 PM

Hi All,
First of all, good going on the losses everyone. I think the great thing about this diet is that you can go off for a day or so and then jump right back in without worry. I think it keeps you from that all or nothing diet mentality that I know I have had for a long time. Willsmashfat, I wouldn't worry too much about the gain. I found that my losses seem to come all in a cluster rather than a steady loss over the week. I'm sure it will all balance out in the end. have a great week!

happyface 08-20-2007 06:14 PM

Hi everyone,

I have been doing Fat Smash for a few weeks now and decided I'd let people know how it is going.

I did Fat Smash last year and lost 28 pounds. Then the holidays came and I slid off and struggled to regain my committment for months. I gained back about 21 pounds. (my weight right after a vacation)

I restarted at the end of July.
Phase 1 ~ lost 10 pounds
Phase 2 week 1 ~ lost 1 pound
Phase 2 week 2 ~ lost 1.6 pounds
Phase 2 week 3 ~ lost 1.4 pounds
Phase 3 week 1 ~ maintain
Phase 3 week 2 ~ gain :( 1.4 pounds

I have not eaten anything besides what is on the list but I have eaten more quantity with some things than I should have. Also I have exercised inconsistently. I did 5 days of walking last week so I hope to continue that. I know a pound or 2 is healthy for a week, but I hope to see more 2 pound losses and an occasional 3 pound loss in the coming weeks. :) I've been off my routine so I'm not always eating every 3 hours and I do get way too hungry sometimes because I've waited so long. That and not drinking as much water as I should is probably not helping. :) However, I feel overall that I am doing pretty well and will work to improve those areas where I could do better.

Good luck to all of you! :) It sounds like you are doing well. I agree with the thought that if you keep going and don't give up you will end up where you want to be even with some stumbles along the way.

I'll try to check in each week. :)

happy :)

Slipped Up

Hello all, I am glad to see that everyone is still hanging in there. I to must admit that I really slipped up over the weekend also. My diet was completely out of wack. I have not weighed myself and I'm not going to until next week. I'm scared of disappointment or the thought for that matter. I can say that I have been faithful with my workouts. I will post my weight next week good or bad. Stay tuned!

GoalDown50 08-21-2007 07:40 AM

Everyone messes up sometimes, like Dr. Ian said, we are not perfect. So i decided to switch back to phase 2. Except for I have only 1 meat a day and not 2 servings. I'm enjoying salads and veggies with my meat, instead of mashed potatoes and stuffing...i need to go shopping because my yogurt and fruit is running low and i have been eating oats "n honey bars or peanuts for snacks...boy do i got to get back into the swing of things! school starts next week so it will be better for me to pack a lunch then try to eat wats at school...all fat and carbs!

GoalDown50 08-22-2007 07:57 AM

so i didnt weigh myself for two weeks and its paid off...im down to 185! so excited! havent seen that number in a few months! i'm gonna stick to the 1 meat a day and see where that takes me and if it helps me lose more. i def. need to get back into working out cause i havent been doing too well with it. how did the rest of you do?

sparrow226 08-22-2007 09:36 AM

I warped the diet yesterday. I didn't feel too wel anyway...and there's always another day to fix it. I'm gonig to up my exercise today, and eat better. I'm down 5lbs, since last monday...so that's good. I'm sticking to one meat a day as well....and we're eating meat everyday because the partner in food crime works all day and needs his meat, lol. But we're sticking to fish most of the time. :D Good day, stay motivated!

Dreamdancer 08-22-2007 11:07 AM

Goaldown50 - Congratulations!!!
That deserves the happy dance!!!:cb::dancer::dancer: Its great when you see that number that has been illusive.
Sparrow226 -Congrats to you too! I know what its like to live with the "meat man". Fish has been a hard sell, but its getting better!
Have a great day all and keep up the good work!

gottadoit77 08-22-2007 07:44 PM

Tomorrow is my offical start day for Fat Smash. I have "tried" a couple of times before, but gave up for no good reason. This time I am committed and will not let a minor slip up make me quit. I have seen some great losses on this site and hopefully it will keep me motivated. Wish me luck! I am excited to see my body change...this time for the better!

Susanna Eats 08-23-2007 01:09 AM

Please count me in on the 8/23 start date. I'm looking forward to this ;)

raycho3 08-23-2007 07:25 PM

count me in to the 8/23 start date for FS detox. i get at least 2 headaches a day:?: i'm so used to getting McDonald's that my brain is losing its mind :)

I have to pray every time before I eat to be full and keep my strength cause this detoxing is hard but we will make it through and I will pray for everyone one of you all.

I started yesterday and I didn't work out because I didn't want to overshock my body. but i'm going tonight to run and walk. i'm not a 100% runner yet but I run 3 minutes and walk 2 minutes and I will do that for 30 minutes then do crunches then sit in the sauna. i hope this diet and working out works...from what i can see it does:D. Well good luck everyone and keep strong.

PS I can't wait until I can have fried foods again!

willsmashfat 08-24-2007 08:33 PM

Raycho - you may actually lose your taste for fried foods. The thought of these foods now make me feel ill - so does the smell of fryer oil. There is hope!

sparrow226 08-24-2007 09:43 PM

I've been off-track for two days now. I've been so busy with college starting that I don't have time to eat! I've been eating too big portions, I haven't eaten anything I shouldn't have, just too much of it. I have one more day at school before I have the time to get back on track. I haven't exercised for two days, I think I just lost my motivation...I stopped losing after 5lbs...I know it isn't a big deal, but this really is the longest I've ever stuck to a diet. I'm going to start again on Tuesday, I need to get in the groove for school and know my times so I can plan out my day better. :/

willsmashfat 08-25-2007 10:56 PM

Kasey - It seems like this plan is easier to get back to than most.
Don't feel like you have failed - you have just taken a break.
Make small changes now to get ready for next week: plan your meals, stock the fridge, plan your exercise - this is a planning break, see?

sparrow226 08-26-2007 07:24 PM

I've stopped the diet for now, but I am still using the tips he gives and the portion control...and of course no fast food. I'm going to give it a week, so I can get my schedule down at school and get into the swing of things. I think once I know what times of day to eat and exercise will help keep me in the groove. So, new start date, September 3rd. :carrot:

Dreamdancer 08-27-2007 11:07 AM

Hi Kasey,
Your plan sounds like a good one. I have found that I need some planning for meals in order to stay on track. I'm sure when you start again, you will do great!

GoalDown50 08-27-2007 12:15 PM

im off track as well..im not eating horrible foods, like fast foods, but i am adding some bread into the diet...mostly wheat bread...i did break and have a stromboli yesterday for lunch (but only ate half) i think i am going have to start over as well sparrow....college started today for me and i can already see that it's going to be hard to stay on task. i have to start working out again, i havent really been for like 2 weeks now...so this morning i did a 10 min aerobic workout on my balance ball, id figured 10 minutes was better then nothing...im gonna walk when i get home from work...so as of now, im just watching what im eating and making sure whatever i eat doesnt have a lot of sodium or carbs. and im going for about 1200-1800 calories a day. i hope once i get the swing of things for school i can start with phase 1 again and really push for some weight loss...as for now, i hope at least watching my intake and exercise will help to keep losing weight.

JellyBelly1908 08-27-2007 11:59 PM

I'm still going strong.

willsmashfat 08-28-2007 05:04 PM

I am trying hard not to get discouraged. This plan feels right - no cravings, lots of energy - but no loss yet. It is day 5 so phase 1 is not over. Yesterday and today I am tracking thru fitday.
I am going to up the exercise a bit, drink more water and check the sodium levels. Any other ideas? I believe - now I need to achieve.

JellyBelly1908 08-30-2007 02:48 PM

WillSmashFat, don't be discouraged. :( This diet is awesome.

Up the exercise a little, but only do cardio if you are in Phase I. I need to up my water intake also. How do you check your sodium levels?

The only suggestion that I have is that you make a food journal if you haven't already. I go by a weekly meal plan that I construct each Sunday in Microsoft Word. :D

willsmashfat 08-30-2007 05:15 PM

JellyBelly - Thanks for the support. It is the belief in this plan that is keeping me with it.
By "checking sodium levels" I mean recording the amounts of sodium in the foods I am eating.
I am recording my food in fitday to help keep track and to refer to again as a meal plan.
I have cut back a bit on my brown rice and oats today and am choosing fruits with lower glycemic index.
Keep at it!

MissVee 09-01-2007 11:47 PM

Hello everyone! Its a couple of weeks since I last posted. I hope everyone is doing well. I fell off for a minute however, I will be back on track once I get past this holiday. I have still continued to work-out at least 5 days a week. I have not gained any weight. I can tell that my body is really transforming now. I must say that its quite nice...lol.... Anyways I still have a ways to go and doing this diet has really inspired me. I am going full speed ahead Tueday, starting back at phase 1. Stay tuned!

JellyBelly1908 09-02-2007 06:57 PM

Hi, Miss Vee! It is difficult to avoid the goodies during the holidays. I have a dinner party on Thursday that I have to go to so I'm going to do Phase I for breakfast, snack, lunch, and 2nd snack that day even though I'm currently in Phase II. It balances out.

I see we're from the same area!!! :D What's your exercise regimen?

Good luck! :cb:

MissVee 09-02-2007 07:17 PM

Hi Jellybelly1908! My exercise is pretty simple, I'm in the gym every morning at 5:00 am. I do 30 minutes on the elliptical, Mon-Fri while alternating upper body workouts every other day, Abs everyday, and Aerobics Mon,Wed, & Fri. I usally spend anywhere from an 1hr to an 1hr 1/2 in the gym. I can tell that I'm really toning now, losing inches like crazy(it feels good) :jig:....lol.... I said that by the end of the year, I should be at my goal weight. I just alternate the different exercises throughout the week. At first it was really hard but now I feel gulity if I miss a workout. I can honestly say that I have learned how to be very discipline now when it comes to food (portion control)!

happyface 09-02-2007 07:32 PM

Hello again,

:) I am glad you all have such a positive attitude. Even when we have tough times it is good to be able to still feel successful. Tomorrow I will be starting week 2 of Phase 3. I had a tough week. I ate many things I shouldn't have and too much of things as well. When that happened I felt really icky and the next day I ate right on-plan and drank lots of water. But overall the week was an eating roller coaster. Also I have not been exercising at all. I will be starting my morning walking routine on Tuesday though. I've committed to that. I'll see what the scale says tomorrow but I expect a gain. We'll see. Have a happy Labor Day everyone!

happy :)

willsmashfat 09-02-2007 08:26 PM

Happy Face - Just wanted to support you on your plan to walk on Tuesday morning. I biked for 1 hour today. I will do a 1 hour walk tomorrow. My walk on Tuesday will be after work and before dinner. Keep it up - you are almost out of the 200's!!

happyface 09-03-2007 08:25 AM

Willsmash, thank you so much! :) I agree with the suggestions you had for yourself as far as seeing the Phase 1 loss you are hoping for. More water would have been my first suggestion and also making sure you are eating every 3 hours or so.

Last year when I 'smashed,' I followed the program to the letter, exercise and all. I started with the 30 minutes of cardio in Phase 1, and worked up to the hour in Phase 4, which is where I sort of fell apart. But this year I didn't do it. So I am starting tomorrow with the 30 minutes and then work up from there. I think it is a main reason why my Phase 2 and 3 losses haven't been as high. I find it is best for me to walk before work. Good for you doing an hour!!

My official Phase 3, week 1 results are a maintain. I'll take it! I'm getting off lucky with that! (oh, and last year I got to 197, but just for a very short time before things went the other way. I can't wait to get back to the 1's for good.)

Thanks again for the support! :) Good luck with your walk!

happy :)

Jaxprat 09-03-2007 03:23 PM

Labor Day

I am in day 5 of Phase One and managed to side step a scone ladden tea party yesterday, however I am going to have a planned cheat today and have a couple of no-no foods for the holiday. I am going to stay on the detox phase longer to make up for it. I thought about starting after the holiday, but I did not want any more reasons to postpone getting on track.

Other than a headache the first day and a half and some nausea on day 3 I have been fine. Already being a big water drinker and not being a big coffee or soda person helped I thin. I am having around 1200 calories a day on average which is a HUGE daily drop for me. I think I am still taking in to much salt though as my fingers are swollen every morning when I get up. I started breaking into my dusty Tae Bo collection and now I remember why it worked so well before - I am sore all over!

I refuse to weigh myself until detox is over so I have no idea how I am doing, but I know for know I feel better, and that's the important thing.

NikkiSekstal 09-03-2007 07:56 PM

Hello everyone!

I am on day 4 of Phase 1. I feel like I have gained a lot of water weight, since I have been drinking a lot more H20 than usual. The diet overall is pretty easy for me, I have been a vegetarian for 14 years, so I have a okay relationship with fruits and veggies...

I have also been doing DDR for the excercise portion (the crazy playstation game which requires constant dancing) and hopefully it will all pay off when I weigh in on Saturday!

Good luck everyone!

JellyBelly1908 09-03-2007 10:53 PM

Hi, NikkSekstali! I LOVE Dance Dance Revolution. It's a great workout.

@Jaxsprat, keep up the good work! I stuck to the plan today and did not have any BBQ b/c I have a dinner party on Thursday. I'm going to reward myself with a small brownie then.

Dreamdancer 09-04-2007 10:55 AM

Hi All,
I'm glad everyone is still writing and supporting each other. I had a fall off the wagon this weekend. It was my anniversary and we went out for dinner. I ate way too much. I am going to go back to phase 1 for a few days. I also found that my 1st week of phase 3 was a no loss/no gain. Week 2 was 2 lbs and I finally have a weight with a 1 in front of it! First time in 8 years!
So keep up the good work all and have a great week!

livvinlean 09-04-2007 11:37 AM

Hi smashers,

I would love to join this great group. I've tried this plan months ago and lost weight on the phase1, then never made it to phase 2. So this time I'm going all the way!!!! But it sure helps when you have the support like this group. I will try to post daily to be more accountable, and up the water and... do my 30min cardio, which I need to get off my bum and do it now. See ya later

livvi

NikkiSekstal 09-04-2007 04:39 PM

Hey smashers!

Woke up today with a horrible sugar craving! Decided to try the oatmeal cookie recipe, and they were delish! Inspires me to try more of the recipes featured on the FS section of the forum! Anyone have favorites?? :carrot:

willsmashfat 09-04-2007 08:53 PM

I echo your comment about the cookies - they are good! I also tried the pizza and really enjoyed it. This site is great - it is good to be here!

livvinlean 09-05-2007 10:35 AM

Good Morning smashers,

Wow! we had a BIG thunder & lightening show last night, and it looks like another one today. I was on the treamill this morning and about 40min into my workout the power went out from the massive storm. Well, I ate on plan and I feel pretty good right now, not so bloated feeling that I usually have, so maybe I'm down a pound. I'm not going to weigh-in until day 9 or is it after day 9, O.k. so day 10 I'll weigh-in. I hope you all have a smashing day!!!

livvinlean 09-06-2007 10:29 AM

Hi Smashers,
Well, I joined a kickboxing class, where my DD takes karate. WOW !!! what a workout, but I feel great. TOM came early this month and that's o.k. it will be done sooner. My eating has been right on plan, I'm feeling pretty satisfied and it has been fairly easy. I hope it continues this way, then I can make it through all phases.
Where's everyone at , hope you all are just smashing along.
livvi

livvinlean 09-07-2007 11:03 AM

Hello, Hello out there,

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm still eating on plan, no cheats, which has been amazing to me. It's been a long time that I gone more than a couple days without any cheats. But I'm keeping really busy this year with my kids and there crazy schedules, driving then back and forth for early morning practice and after-school practices and try to coordinate this inbetween my work schedule, Phew!!! bye for now gotta run.
