Hi, I'm new to the Fat Smash Diet. I actually have done detoxes in the past and felt really, really lousy. I've decided to allow myself some diet Coke for the caffeine to avoid the true detox symptoms. I'm just finishing day 3 and things seem to be going fine. I'm not hungry at all, and have not been tempted to eat anything other than what's on the phase I list.
My problem is that I simply am not getting enough food in each day. Today was a really bad day. Only 797 calories. I ate: about 2oz yogurt (all I had left in fridge), 10 baby carrots, 2.5 C. sugar snap peas, a banana, a kiwi, 1 C. steamed lentils, and 1 C. brown rice. That's it. It's 11:15pm... way too late to eat. And I'm not even hungry. I exercised for 30 minutes at 9:15pm and I would expect to feel hungry.
In the past, I have done really strict diets and then fallen hard off the wagon due to hunger and gorged on silly, unnecessary snacks. I don't think that will happen this time around, as I'm really not hungry, but I don't want to eat too little.
Most people have told me that they don't feel hungry during Phase 1, and that's with eating the full 2 cups of rice, 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup dairy, etc. If you eat it all, it only comes to between 1200 and 1500 calories, and it's nicely balanced. I think the rice is very filling. You are probably full from your rice and lentils.
I can understand your concern about making sure you get enough calories. Do you plan your menus out ahead of time? That might help you make sure you get all of the foods and enough calories.
rach, I don't even have the book; I have just been following what I read on the 3FC book review, but the detox works so well. Didn't even know I wasn't supposed to weigh, so I did, and I have lost 3 #s.....all water, but it feels great! I, too, am full, on detox, and have had some really low cal days...but, I had the oatmeal. I don't know the diet well and will buy the new book out April 3, but I will also say, I am using the recipes, the beans, the corn........the sweet potatoes, and it is great. It fills me and I am not at all feeling deprived...stay with it.........for me, it has calmed that urge to eat...again, I would say eat more of what is allowed...just do it.......I hope it works for you as well as it has been working for me...I am a believer!
I do meal plan, but sometimes I'm just not hungry enough. I had oatmeal and a banana before leaving the house today. I brought lentils, brown rice, spaghetti sqaush, carrots, and salad (with veggies & chick peas). I can't imagine that I will eat it all... and that's still pretty low on the calories side.
I guess I will just try to get in more protein or something. I try to eat egg whites but they just gross me out. I love scrambled eggs and would sometimes mix extra whites in with two whole eggs, but just whites? Ugh. I tried for two days and now I just skip them.
I'm not a huge dairy fan, either, or I'd try to drink skim milk or eat more yogut.
If you can only find 800 calories worth of phase 1 foods you like, I think you should add healthy foods in from phase 2. Eat some chicken or some fish. Try low-fat yogurt instead of non-fat.
700-800 calories per day is not enough food. I found that out myself my first month on fat smash. I stopped losing and I had some strange negative reactions.
The detox phase is supposed to be a healthy change. I think you should be flexible with the rules to make sure you can make healthy choices.
I like plenty of foods. (This girl loves to eat!) I am just not hungry enough to consume them all. I love fruits and veggies and beans and oatmeal and lentils and chick peas. Really. I just am finding myself not hungry. Right now, I'm eating a spinach salad because I know I should eat. But I'm not really hungry for it. I'll follow it up with lentils. Though I'm not hungry, I do love lentils!
(Tip: Trader Joe's makes steamed ready-to-eat lentils that are amazing...)
I'll just try to choke down the food. I'm not craving junky carbs, which is good. I did the Fat Flush plan before and lost 17lbs, eating pretty much the same way. But I was hungry all the time. Weird.
