Well, I finished phase I yesterday and got on the scale this morning and lost a total of 2.2 lbs. I'm not exactly sure what happened. I weighed myself at 5 days (I know, we're not supposed to) and I was at a 3.5 lb weight loss. I may just be eating too much. I walked for at least 30 minutes for 8 of those 9 days. Here's a sample of my daily food intake, maybe somebody can give me some ideas. I'm considering staying on phase I for another 9 days.
breakfast 8:00 am 16-20 oz fresh carrot/apple juice (we have a juicer)
snack 10:30 am 1 c cooked oatmeal w/ 1/2 c strawberry's
1 c nonfat milk
lunch 1:00 pm 1 c brown rice
1 c pinto beans
1 small banana
snack 3:30 pm 6 oz fatfree vanilla Yoplait yogurt
1 small orange
dinner 6:00 pm salad w/3 T lowfat dressing
1 c brown rice
vege chili (one of the ones from this site)
1 c milk
I don't eat anything after dinner. So what does everyone think?
I am not sure why you didn't lose more...it is weird. But maybe it was close to that time of the month or you had something w/ sodium that made you retain water? How much water are you drinking? It couldn't hurt to stay on it a few more days or another 9. My body does weird things too and if I weigh in between my weekly weigh ins, I can be as much as 4 lbs difference from day to day. I always try to eat nothing but veggies the day before my weigh in, drink extra water (I drink about 80oz a day usually), workout and have nothing after 7 pm except maybe a smoothie. That way when I get on the scales naked the next morning after morning pee (and bowel movement if I get lucky), I am as light as I can be. It might be silly but that is my Thurs night/Fri morning routine. Lem
Well, I've been through menopause already (I was early) so I know it's not that. I don't use too much salt. I'm thinking maybe it's because I have been doing WW and already excercising so I don't have that initial water weight that people lose (mine is already gone) and I actually lowered my excercise time to follow the book. I was going to the gym 3 days a week, doing 1/2 hour cardio and about 20 minutes strength training. Could this be it? My excercise actually went down? I was at only 22 points for WW which is approximately 1100-1200 calories. I figured the calories of my above food intake and it's about 1700. So all that could be it, maybe I'm lucky to have lost 2 lbs!! LOL I'll stay phase I for another 9 days, up my excercise by 25% and see what happens.
Oh, and I'm drinking approximately 64 oz per day, give or take a few.
Are you eating the pulp when you juice the carrot/apple? If you're not, you're losing all the fiber that helps with the digestion of such a pure sugar source, which is why we're not supposed to have straight juice. Way to much sugar, even if it is natural and without any of the fiber benefits of the apple or orange. I would also suggest plugging that into www.fitday.com to see if you're getting ENOUGH to eat. Looking at that, it seems like a very small amount of calories, somewhere in the 700-900 range, which is not nearly enough. Again, like you said, it could simply be that you don't have that extra water weight to lose, but I would honestly look at how much you're NOT eating.
**edited** I plugged it into fitday and without knowing exact brands etc, or with knowing the ingredients in your chili, I still came up with roughly 1150 calories, so it's just borderline to small, if I got it all added right. Hon, I don't know, maybe it's just the lack of water weight after all? Good luck!

You know, I'm sure you're right. Just re-reading what you said at first, about not having juice, that IS in the list of what NOT to have. Is there a little smiley that shows me smacking my head?? We don't eat the pulp, so there goes the fiber issue, but I'm not having any problems. And I feel better knowing I'm not eating too much. I don't know yet what I'm going to do. I love having the juice, so maybe I'll just work around it.
Thank you for all your responses, you've really helped.
Maybe your exercise does have something to do w/ it - I was doing weights 3 times a week and cardio 3-4 times (only Jazzercise & walking)while I was on WW when I stalled and couldn't lose anything for over a month. I quit the weights totally and upped my cardio to 7 sessions a week - walking/running/jazzercise/step aerobics to mix it up which probably helped me. I don't think you can do too much cardio Plus it helps me relieve stress and keep me from sitting home wanting to eat. I will be anxious to see what happens the next 9 days, i am sure you will do well. Good luck! Lem
