Hi everyone! Just thought I'd stop in for a minute after lunch. I appreciate your prayers so much!
My miscarriage physically started today and UGH. I feel YUK! The worst is the cramping. It feels like my abdomen wants to self-destruct. :headache: At least it will be over soon and I'll have some closure. And I know that my   babies are safe in heaven now... On the law school front I received acceptance #3 from Wash U in St. Louis. Also, acceptances #1 and #2 came with scholarships, so I'm doing great so far! :dancer: I can't wait to see what schools #4-9 have to say! I'll keep you all posted! Beth ~ Glad to hear that your mother's surgery was successful. I will pray for her recovery. Wilma ~ I hope you get good news from the doctor soon! Krissie ~ :welcome2: This is a great place to be, and I know you're going to love it here! As always, all of you are in my prayers and I am grateful to know you! Have a great day! :grouphug: |
Good afternoon everyone
It is a beautiful sunny day - but getting chilly. They say we could have some snow overnight (:( and then for it to turn really cold - as it is middle of February and considering where we live seems to be the thing for the weather to do. But am cheering on the spring - want it to come soon.
Well, we are definitely going to be selling. By the weekend we should be painting (primer at least) the main floor of the house. Think we will do the bathroom first as it is the smallest - that way we can paint it, lift out the toilet and put down new lino and that room will be done. One of the bedrooms just needs new carpet, the master bedroom just needs to be painted so it looks like those are the rooms we might finish up first. Then Priscilla room, hallway, kitchen and living room all need to be painted and flooring. So lots to do - would like to get as much done by end of February so that we can get the house listed as soon as possible - but it all depends on how tired / nontired hubby is. Day 3 of my 14 week jump start - am doing ok I guess but I had a look at the scale today and it is not being nice at all - am feeling rather bloated so that could be the problem. But this weight is going to come off never to be found again. Having some concerns / problem with dear mother. She is 88 and is needing some help - my step father is finding the stress of doing everything for her just to much but dear mom is causing a lot of stink as she feels that we are all ganging up on her when all we want is the best for her. What she wants is for Ed (her hubby) to give up all his outside interests to take care of her. He is a retired pastor (retired from speaking every week but still involved in the minsitry). He doesn't do a heck of a lot without her but she seems to resent the fact that he wants to 'study' for 2 hours per day. I can understand somewhat of what she is saying as she is now legally blind and is confined to a wheel chair most days - but they are living in a beautiful complex where she could be visiting with her neighbors on the same floor as her while he studies - but she feels that if she goes 'visiting' even just 2 times per week that he should be with her. She is definitely of a generation of long ago - she has never worked out of the home or really had to take care of herself - she went from being a young girl at home to marriage where our dad took care of her - but it is really putting the strain on us girls. I love mom a lot and if I lived closer to her (she is a 8 hour drive away) I would visit a heck of a lot more than now. But all of us girls have a strained relationship with her because of just how her personality is. Anyway please consider praying that this situation will right itself as it is making all of us 3 girls feel ill, as well as our step dad is taking it very hard - mom has been somewhat verbal abusive to him and he is not handling it well - and his girls from his prevous marriage are very concerned about his health as well. crk -praying for you more so during this time of your life - your beautiful little babies are with Christ singing praises and waiting till the day comes when they can be reunited with you. Keep your chin up, get the rest you need and lean on Christ - He above all else will get you through this. beth - glad to hear the surgery went well for your mom - do keep us posted on how recovery is going pixiefalls - hope your day at school goes well Gary - what can I say but that I really enjoy your posts - you have so many good and wise things to share with us. I like the way you shared about salvation - so many of us might not verbally turn from Christ but we backslide and live a life that is not as Christ would want and we don't show any evidence that we are one of His children - but we still get to go to Heaven because we had accepted Him. I do agree with you completely that we are all loved unconditionally - Christ does not see me any different than he does Billy Graham, Mother Teresa or whoever - he loves us all the same - and we really shouldn't 'compare' our lives to others that are out there more witnessing / doing for the Lord - and I didn't really mean it to come across that way but more of a point that there are those that are taking the noticable step for Christ while there are those of us that are plugging along doing what we can when we can. Hope that makes sense. I know that when my time on this earth comes to an end that I will be residing with Christ and all the other saints and I also know that when my time comes to be 'judged' that I will be held accountable for my life since I accepted Christ as my Savior - just as the rest of the people will be - and I know that we will all be with him in the end. wilma - the waiting for those medical results seem to take forever - best thing is if you can just remember to keep taking some nice big deep breaths and continuing to do what needs to be done - and before you know it you will have the results Will post the journal thought right away |

Make a list of the things that repeatedly tempt you. Choose one to pray about and ask God to break the stronghold of this temptation.

Another prayer request...
Bad news, everyone...
My dad just called from work...he just found out that the call center he works for is outsourcing to the Phillipines, which means that he will be losing his job within a few months, when the transition is complete. This really upsets me because he worked hard to move up in the company, and now he's back to square 1 - having to hunt for jobs with the masses. :( :( :( If you all could pray for him and my mom, I would love that...I'm hoping God will present him with a wonderful new opportunity soon. :grouphug: |
Beth, glad things are going better with your mom:).
Christina, hope you start feeling better soon and just find strength in Christ with all your troubles:). Marilyn, thank you, it did:). I understand what your mom means but I also understand about your step-father.. maybe a compromise could be made? |
HI GALS~
Just stopping by for a minute ~ not much going on here today. Dinner tonight was chicken or hamburger quesadillas or burritos ~ something easy and we always like it. CHRISTINA~ So sorry for what you are going through right now, this too shall pass. Sorry about your father, at least he knows a good lawyer;) ~ My daughter NEVER misses Gilmore Girls, but then she is about your age (22) ~ By the way, what is Californian cuisine? ~ I am guessing avocado ~ turkey? HILARY~Keep up the great attitude girl! MARILYN~ So sorry to hear of your parents struggles, but then I agree with Hilary. I know you know you are going to heaven! Love chatting with you on the subject. There are a lot of people working for our Lord but remember God made us each special individually ~ not everyone has the minister call, just as not everyone can raise a special needs daughter! There is NO difference between a good christian and a bad christian ~ you are a christian or you are not ~ now then, there are people that do way more good things than we do ~ but then that should give us something to strive for. WILMA~ Hey great win in hockey over Italy ~ Boy is the USA hockey team tough or what? WE TIED LATVIA ~ they must be a powerhouse ;) BETH~Great news on your mom! Continued prayers. AUNT SUE~ I hope your administration meeting went well! About time to go for that raise! ;) Gotta :running: |
Hi everyone:) just checking in to see how everybody is doing....
Krissie:wel3fc: i'm sure you'll like it here, i haven't been here that long but i sure feel like i have lots of new friends in my corner:carrot: Christina...so sorry for everything that's going on....lean on Him and you'll find your way. Gary....i really enjoy reading your posts about the fam and about your views on theology...very enlightening Marilyn....well day 3 and i was just ok....walked cinnamon 1.75 miles (an improvement for me), but the valentines candy kept calling and i had a couple of pieces. the only consolation on that is last year i would have eaten the whole thing in a few days. this year i'm trying to make it last much longer. no yoga yet! i have next week off from school, so i'm determined to get that going:drill: i loved your piece on your special children, there is a special place in heaven for those who love God's special children... am sorry to hear about your parents situation, i'm sure you all want to do the best for her and your step father...she's probably very afraid of being vulnerable and he's probably exhaused from taking care of her. i hope your family can come up with some ideas to help. well.....back to my classroom tomorrow,,,,i've been scoring state tests for three days (all day long)...it was interesting, but i missed my classes. today when i got to the building they were "wanding" (metal detectors) the 6th through 8th graders looking for "unsafe items" since the violence has been getting worse. as we were grading in a locked room a fight broke out in the hall....uneasy feeling walking in the hall later in the day. gotta run, take care everyone!:) |
Hi There!
kRISSY- Glad to see ya came back! What weight loss program are ya following?
E.Z.- AMEN! My dear the girls are right. BIG DITTO! Meeting went well, actually between the other house leaders in my region and our two upper level supervisors, basically sharing info. and new policys ect. Need a raise just for attending. :D PIXIE- Hope your day went well at school! MRS. BETH- P.T.L. ! Prayers for good results on Friday. Keep us posted. CHRISTINA- Wow! Scholarships from 3 schools! A women in demand! Prayers the Lord dirrects you to the right school for you asnd for your mom/Dad- so hard having to hunt for a new job when you should be looking forward to retirement. Continues prayers for you and dh for peace and a blanket of comfort and reassurance with all that is going on. SPROUT- Prayers on selling your home, and for all the work you need to get done, that everything goes smoothly. For mom getting a little more independent and feeling comfortable visiting her friends and for Ed for patience and understanding. Maybe they could study together, I understand him not wanted that to be put on the back burner as we too often do that in our lives as well. Prayers for the whole situation that it all works out. KEEPING THE FAITH- Wow! How scarry, Just saw on the news how a kid was arrested in Albany High School for assaulting his teacher, sad that teachers have to combat that when there are students wanting to learn. I am doing great bowling this morning then off today, planning to catch up on my devotions and bible reading. Prayers to all for safety and blessing. See ya! |
Good morning
Hello everyone. Thank you so much for all your prayers for my mother. She is still in pretty high spirits. Things are good.
Marilyn - Does your mom and stepdad have any local friends or neighbors that can take her visiting. I can certainly understand the aprehension she feels, yet he needs to be able to take a break. Prayers for all to work out. Keeping the Faith - My greatest respect for you and all teachers. I taught one year 8th grade Earth Science about 10 years ago. We had a rough bunch of students. It was very stressful for me. I cried alot. Notice I said one year. I think things would be slightly different if I did it now.......only because I am a different person. I have grown up alot since then and am not so naive. I took so much personally then. Anyway, I am in an office now because I have been in the corporate field and haven't kept up with education. Christina - Prayers for Dad. Outsourcing is a bad word in our household. Hubby went through the stress of the threat of his job for a couple of years. It got so bad (alot of things played a part) that he walked out and his supervisors pleaded with him to stay. He has since gotten a new job and is much happier. I just hate the fact that so many jobs go oversees when they should stay here. We are giving jobs to countries that don't even like us. Or shall I say, we are catching flak from them lately. It's suppose to be about bottom line though. I am so afraid that with everything going on nowadays with politics, war, USA losing the popularity contest - we could possible suffer in the future greatly. I pray not though. I don't know - Gary, Marilyn what do you think. Am I being too overboard on this. Gotta run. I will post more later. |
Checking in for today
Am somewhat rushed today so won't post individually but please know that I have read al the posts and am praying for all of you wonderful people.
Things are moving along well here - going out shortly to pick up some paint for the master bedroom and Priscilla's room. Planning to get one of them painted today - would like to have the two bedrooms and the bathroom done by this time next week - but time will tell. Thanks everyone for your wonderful suggestions re helping my mom. I love her dearly but us 3 girls are all having a hard time liking her at this time. She is not willing to take any of our suggestions but wants us 3 girls plus Ed (our step dad) to do all for her because as she says 'she had to give up everything she liked to do because she went blind so we should in turn give up things to help her. Please pray for us as mom is a special lady but has said and done a lot of hurtful things over the years to us all - and even Ed has said now after being married to her for 10 years that he can see where we are coming from because of her personality. We need to find something that works for them - Ed definitely needs a break from being with her 24 / 7 and she needs help in a lot of different areas. Please pray that mom will be more accepting in having someone doe the cooking and cleaning for her, that she won't be so critical and picky about it all, and that she will get off of Ed giving up all his ministry just to take care of her. Pray that she will come to understand that she can visit with those in the building where the live without Ed beside her all the time. Pray for patience for us all. Anyway, need to go and do some walking - need to get in at least 1 mile but perferrably 2 - and need to get a few things organized for supper - like to get as much prepared ahead of time as I can. Take care everyone - will be back when I take a break from all that has to be done around here. |
Journal for February 16, 1006
What was your most recent temptation, and what way out did God provide?
Did you see it? What can you do to be more mindful of the exit when you are faced with temptation? |
Hi there again!
I decided it was time to make another effort, been hanging out socializing just wasn't into all that 4-letter word stuff (D-I-E-T) But it is time to give it another shot. So, I went shopping today and got food, and vitamins ect. I actually did pretty good today and wasn't officially starting until tom. I am doing a low cal. low fat diet as works best for me. Set mini goal of 15 pounds by March 5th. I will set one day a week for something I really want. That usually helps keep me honest. I have this weeks day picked already as Sat. is my nieces senior dinner- and I already have a ticket. Gotta support the kid so it'll be spaghetti on Sat. Hi to everyone. Sprout- my prayers are with you as you have so much going on, and with your mom and Ed that they come to a mutually satisfying arrangement. God bless all.

Hi everyone
I've been gone for ages but it was great to see the Christian Encourager thread still going. I'd love to join up with you and be your prayer supporter/partner! Dance |
Good Morning!
It is absolutely freezing up here these days. This a.m. it's -27C. After an incredibly warm winter we're now going through a deep freeze. At least we know that it won't last for too long.
I've been doing much better with my food choices and I think it's showing on the scale. I'll change my ticker soon! I've also started to exercise more which I know is very important for lowering BP. Gary: Don't sell your hockey team short. Our two countries are known for having the best players in the world. They even said the other day that you can't get better officiators than ours. It might end up being USA and Canada in the finals. Wouldn't that be interesting? Dance: Welcome back! You can jump right in here. We're here for you. doitforme: Making small goals like that is excellent. It worked for me. Keep up the great work. Don't stress about going off program once in a while. What's important is that you get back on again. Sprout: You are definitely in my prayers. It's hard enough dealing with teenagers let alone adding one's parents to the list. It sounds like your mom is a bit bitter over loss of eyesight. It's got to be hard for her too. I like the idea of having people take her out on a regular basis so her DH can get the time alone he needs and deserves. keeping the faith: That's scary! Why can't kids just be kids. It's so sad to see what these kids are into and capable of. We need to really pray for the youth of our nations. Well, it's Friday :carrot: :carrot: and I have to get going to work. Have a super day! |
Hi there!
Dance- :welcome: bACK! Nice to see ya return!
Wilma-:carrot: :bravo: :cheer: :cb: For working out and staying on target. It has been beautiful here, but cold front moving in will be going from almost 60 degrees last two days to the teens- talk about bizarre weather it was raining and heavy winds now sun is shinning and really windy.. Thanks! for encouragement- I have done well so far, today so pray that continues as have to cook at work for Ladies we care for and even though I am bringing dinner is always a challenge not to taste theirs of course to ensure it is edible. Maybe other staff will do cooking, and i'll do meds then no temptation. I'll get some :dust: that'll help:D thought that was cute when I saw it. God Bless. Catch ya tom. |
