Hi. I'm new here. I'm 50 years old, a mother and a grandmother, happily married, not quite 5'3" and 220, a higher weight than I've been in decades. I'm a Christian SAHM. Looking for encouragement and motivation to start the weight loss journey. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

mom2fivesweeties 12-12-2005 10:46 PM

Good Evening!

Hope everyone is keeping warm! It's around 35 degrees here, but it must be incredibly damp because I'm freezing!

FITCHICK2BE: :welcome3: This is the place to be! I love all of these people in this group! I am 50 also, but have little kids! :o They are 7, 8, 10, 10 and my oldest is 19! I'm 5' 6" and I started at 315.8 on Sept. 21 and have lost around 30 pounds now. I'm doing LA Weight Loss and like it pretty much. It's been effective anyway. I stay at home too with the kids, 3 dogs, a snake, a kitten, an aquatic turtle and pond fish. I love to read, garden (flowers and veggies) and take care of everybody and their uncle! Just jump right in!

HILARY: Good luck with the finals!

GARY: So you really don't claim those crazy northerners! I wouldn't either! If my boys are any indication, it's a place to stay clear of!! :dizzy: Thanks for the prayers for mom and dad. They just don't know when to slow down and then get frantic when they can't go at breakneck speed! The bar is usually a little hole in the wall in south St. Louis, MO. He works near a place called "dogtown" that's been called that for years and years. It was originally settled by Irish Catholics and they probably have the best little bars in the city! LOL! Anyway, every family had at least one dog and hence, the name. My mom's family is Irish Catholic and her dad is one of 15, one of her brothers had 10 kids, and so on - so.............it's our old stomping grounds. But........I'm still not going to sit in a bar - the smoke alone would kill me. GUESS WHAT????? MIKE HAS NOT SMOKED IN OVER 3 WEEKS!!!:carrot:  :hat: :bravo: How cool is THAT???? Thanks for all the prayers!!

HI TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!

fitchick2be 12-12-2005 11:21 PM

Thanks for the welcome! Hoping to get up the gumption to start losing weight and getting healthier! How did you all make the determination that you were going to change?

xJox 12-12-2005 11:22 PM

Thank you all so much for the wonderful welcome. I think I am gonna like it here. :)

A little more about me... Well lets see... I am 24 years old and I am happily married. My husband just turned 29 on the 10th of this month. We have 2 wonderful little boys. My oldest is Bailey and he is 4 years old. My youngest is Dalton and he is almost 5 months old. I have been a little heavy my whole life and I really want to drop about 65 lbs but would love to drop even more if I could. I would settle for just 65 more though. I am currently doing WW and doing some sort of exercise almost every day. I would say at least 5 times a week. Thats about it. Anything else you would like to know?

wilma12 12-13-2005 09:01 AM

Good Morning!!

Another new day! Christmas is coming so quickly. Do you all have your shopping finished? I'm getting really close to it. I also have a bit more baking to do.

We put up our tree last night. It's really pretty! Tonight I get to decorate it. The house smells so great right now.

crk: Way to go on the weight loss! Keep up the great work!:carrot: :carrot:

Michele: I know how you feel about not having as much family around. This year DH's parents will be alone for christmas. We live too far away and I can't get the time off. One Sis is going to Australia for Christmas and the other one is going to her husband's family this year. They plan to go to a mission and serve Christmas dinner there and then will meet with extended family later in the day. It's really wierd but sometimes that's how it happens.

Lori: Tell Mike we're so happy for him. That's quite an accomplishment.

fitchick: For me deciding to lose weight was when my doctor told me that if I didn't do anything I would end up with heart disease later in life. Thank God it has worked for me and my blood pressure, etc. are at normal levels. I think it happens when you in yourself decide this is what you want for yourself. God and the rest of us here are here to help you through it.

Hello to everyone else. Time to get ready to start another day at work.

Have a wonderful day!

crk05 12-13-2005 09:16 AM

Good morning everyone! This is just a quick post because I have to run off to school soon. It's a lovely cold (by FL standards) day today. I get to pull out my coat for the third time this year!

A couple of good things: yesterday I wrote my law school personal statement :D, at least a draft, and today I'm going to proofread it and maybe get it out the door! LOL  Gary at my husband writing about me. I'm sure he could come up with a few pages! Also, I tried on a pair of my "medium" jeans today and THEY FIT!!! Only three weeks ago I couldn't even button them. I am doing a happy dance right now! :dancer:

A big :welcome2: to fitchick2be. You'll love it here! And hi again Baileysmomma! So glad you came back!

I don't have time to write any more, but everyone have a fabulous day!

:grouphug:

Blondee51 12-13-2005 09:19 AM

OH I wanna be here too! I will go back and read a couple pages of posts to catch up....
Lori......My mouth fell open and my heart jumped up at your description of what happened to you!
I have Meniere's disease.....very same symtoms..started when I was 22, and wasn't properly diagnosed until 1990 when I was taking care fof myself and got to an ENT. I lost 80% hearing on the right side and then 5.5 years ago it attacked the left side. I spent 7 months in relapse last year. Each relapse took a bit more hearing with it. I am praising God that I've not had a single attack this year and am praying for a life long remission.
I would highly reccomend that you do a search on Meniere's symtoms and check with your ENT. The stress load you've been under is a tremendous trigger, the fluid imbalance and potassium depletion as well. I will be sending up prayers big time for you!

To the rest of this awesome group......I am blessed to be here and the support and encourgaement I've seen in my moments here is unbelievable!! I thank God I got in here! Have a blessed day.....
Bren

Mitchypoo 12-13-2005 11:49 AM

I think Wilma gave me a cold... :( ;) just kidding. But I did get hit with a really bad cold yesterday. I went to take a nap because i was so tired and i woke up with a bad sore throat, itchy ears, snotty.... Taking zinc lozenges and vit c and tea... well, actually having some :coffee: this a.m.

Mom made a cheesecake for my brother's party at the place he lives during the week. They were going to put together a cookbook but had a low response so not having the party. But mom made the cheesecake cuz it takes 3 DAYS!! So now what? We don't want to eat it. I suggested we take it to the Fire Dept. and they liked that. I'll take it down there today after i finish decorating it.

Going back to bed for awhile i think....

Busy time. . .

Since this thread has become so busy of late it's hard for me to find time to catch up with all the reading - much less try to do any posting. Unfortunately don't have much time today either, leaving in 45 min. or so, am practicing with the kids at school for their C'mas program on Thursday nite, it's our first 'run through'. The past couple weeks have been very hectic, 'The Nutcracker' is finally over, wonderful time last weekend, DD did a fabulous job (of course, not that I'M biased???) but it was several final long-g-g days, late practices, etc. Had to work on dispatch every Monday and Friday again and will probably through December & January and who knows how much longer after that??? We don't even have our Christmas tree up yet. . . much less any decorating in the house/yard or presents purchased or wrapped. . . shall I say I'm a little behind??

EZ - did see the last five minutes or so of the Heisman, glad Reggie won. We were really impressed by his acceptance speech, thanking God first, his Christian Mom and Christian upbringing and then when he broke down thanking, I assume 'step', father for taking him in and being so kind, well DD and I both had the tissues out for that one. . . seems like a wonderful young man, - will be watching him also for the drafts, - I think da Bears would be a good team, don't you??? Speaking of 'my' Bears, they're actually doing pretty well and don't know how after I saw their performance this last weekend against the Steelers, ooooh, they were awful! Dinner once again sounds delish. . . what time did you say??? ANGIE: I think we have another 'Potter' fan in our midst. . . did you see the quote after Christine's posts???

Lori - Glad to hear you're doing well after that scare. Sounds like boring is never a word used around your house. The pics of the kids are great, especially with all the snow!!

Michele - Continued prayers for Denise, not only the illness but relations with her family also, must be difficult for you as a friend, to see all this going on and not be able to help. I'm sure just you being with her has given her much comfort. I like Junior too, - sounds like he's a keeper!!! So happy things are going well for the two of you.

Hi to all our newbies, it's great to have so many come on board. Please come back often and let us know what you're into and if we can help with your weight loss journey. This group is good to provide lots of encouragement and many prayers. Gotta run, off to school to see all 'my' kids and get their Christmas program going. Hugs & prayers - Margie

Mitchypoo 12-13-2005 01:16 PM

I have an interview for a temporary full time job this Thursday, so prayers please. It would last 2-3 months and the pay is good so who knows. It could be just what i need right now.

klynntx 12-13-2005 02:16 PM

Christmas Greetings All

It's been ages since I checked in.... :( might was well be considered a newbie revisited....

So sorry to hear that so many of you are not feeling well. Wishes for speedy recoveries all around.

So much going on these days....sounds the same for y'all too.

Michelle, good luck with the interview. Will be praying you get the job.

ok, so here's the latest update with our family....

Richard (DH) ran a 50k on Saturday and is still madly training :tread: for his 100k trail run the first weekend in January. Please pray for his training and also that he remains healthy so that he can complete the course.

Jennifer, daughter #1 is graduating with high honors from Georgia Tech on Saturday. YAY! :hat: :hat: :cp: :bravo: :woo: One down, and one more to go. The hard work has paid off. Jennifer landed a job at Shell Chemicals near New Orleans starting in February. God is good! She'll be house/apartment hunting next week so we pray for a safe environment for her.

Christina, daughter #2 starts her student teaching after the Christmas holidays. Pray for wisdom for her. She's finding that the 7th and 8th graders she's been working with do not know how to multiply or divide. Many of the students are the "problem children" of the school. It will be a struggle but hopefully she can get them excited and help them see their potential.

Joey, daughter #1's pet rabbit - anyone have a pet rabbit out there? She's been a bit of trouble this week....she chewed through the tv cord and some speaker cables..:o ..luckily she wasn't electrocuted but Jennifer can't quite figure out if she was affected by it. Will have to get the house rabbit proofed before she comes back for a visit.

For me, things are heating up at work. :sp: We have one of our biggest student events coming up in February....and students signing up for mission trips for the summer. There's new talk of a new computer registration program but they haven't taken the time to teach me how it works so it will be a little stressful. Don't you just love change? :dizzy:

We leave Thursday night after work to drive to Atlanta for graduation and will be driving back on Monday. We'll get to check out the new Atlanta Aquarium, I hear it's fantastic.

I'll try to keep up better.....but if I don't get back on before Christmas....
Everyone have a most blessed Christmas. ;) :tree:

mom2fivesweeties 12-13-2005 02:16 PM

Hi Everyone!

Had the carotid ultrasound today and they said the results should be at my doctor's office by Thursday. We'll see what that brings.

Michele: Will be praying for the job - may God's will be done. I hope you start feeling better. Send the cheesecake here! We love it! Omigosh, I am being so bad! :hungry:

Margie: You are right, it's never boring here that's for sure! It sounds like you are really busy too though! The Christmas programs are awesome though aren't they?

Sue: I will be praying for Maryanne.

Bren: Oh boy, I did some studying on Meniere's and not only did I have the episode on Friday, but I've had slight dizziness upon arising, a fullness in my left ear, ringing in the ears, extremely bothered by loud noises, tunnel vision and Bob (my dh) swears I can't hear - I talk very loudly - I will definitely speak with my MD about it on Monday at my appt. Thanks for letting me know and I'll pray for your situation with it!

Christina: GREAT on the law school paper AND the jeans! YOU GO GIRL!!!:carrot:

Wilma: Thanks for the nice post about Mike - I'll pass that along to him! Aren't real trees great? I used to love the fresh trees, but we don't buy them anymore due to the $$$$ - we bought a tree for $20.00 last year at a closeout after Christmas and it's so pretty! For some reason I can't smell much of anything anymore anyway!

HI TO EVERYONE ELSE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!:ginger: :tree: :candy: :wreath:

Blondee51 12-14-2005 10:13 AM

Good morning crew!
Wow....what a great place this is! Thanks for the warm welcomes and what a GREAT prayer team here!! I am priviledged to be a part of it.

I'll be off and running to my Mom's as soon as I pick my truck up from the shop. She's been in for a tad over two weeks but they had a loaner car for me. I am spoiled to stepping UP to get IN not stepping up to get out! Yikes!Hauling my hiney up out of a go-cart is hard work ya'll!

Lori! Good for you....checking info already. The more we know, the better we can deal with what life throws us. We know too, that however high the hurdle, with God's strength and power we can pass over it. Thanks SO much for prayers in my behalf! I have hearing aids and am having to use 'em for work/play/TV watching etc. and I'd rather not wear 'em out. My left one has been in the shop 3 times in the last year and a half! The gift of birds singing and laughter is SO tremendous......and I took 'em for granted until I became ill. The gift of the senses is truly awesome! Hey...your sense of smell may be affected by what's going on now......our sinuses are so connected to the ear thing!

I'm gonna boogy.....I have my cell on, waiting for the call to collect my truck. I took the go-cart in for a fill up and wash earlier and will be shouting so loud ya'll may hear me, when I get my little red truck back..Happy B-day to ME!

have a blessed day all........I will be adding your names and needs to my prayer list today. I'll be back!
Love and hugs..bren

Great News ! !

Received an email from my neice and saying that her brother (my nephew) Adam's unit has begun deployment. :carrot: :cb: :flow2: Apparently he got her off a quick email and now she's spreading the word. Needless to say we're all very happy about this.  We don't know exactly his location but last we were told that it was 'very dangerous'. Last 'known' area was Baghdad. Unsure as yet when he'll get home but please continue to keep him and his unit in your prayers as well as the unit coming in to replace them.

Also received an email from my ex-pastor's wife, check out this website: andiesisle.com/thefirstchristmasgift.html very pretty and worth your time.

Bren - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :hb: Have any special plans for the day. . dinner, etc? :woo:

Lynn - we also were rabbit owners, Sugar, our solid white dwarf. Unfortunately Sugar died early September. We had her for over seven years. The pet store said they 'typically' live between 3 & 5 years so I guess we had been doing something right. Our rabbit also would chew any wire that came half-way close to her, we've lose numerous lamp cords, game cords, and even a VCR cord once! Great news also for DD, we'll keep her in our prayers that the job works out and for the safe environment (living & at work). Keep us updated!

Hello to all else. Got Christmas program practice again with the kids this afternoon, it's K-3 and I just love being around all them, :twirly: they are so precious! Hugs & prayers for a great day! - Margie

crk05 12-14-2005 02:53 PM

Hi everyone! This is just sort of a quick post because I have a pretty busy day (unexpectedly) today. I just now got to eating lunch - some beef and beans, I wish it was :jeno:!

I am going to a Christmas party this weekend. I am excited but feeling a little apprehensive (not diet related). The hostess is five months pregnant (having a baby boy!), and I am so very happy :) for her and her husband, BUT I just suffered a miscarriage less than two months ago. A little worried :( that hearing all the baby talk will make some of the emotions well up inside of me. So just a tiny prayer request there. That aside, I can't wait to get a lovely dose of holiday cheer :coolsnow: and see a lot of old friends. I also have my Christmas cards almost finished so that's a load off my mind! Whew! :carrot:

So, I hope you all have a great afternoon! I have to finish eating and get back to work!

klynntx - I added your daughter to my prayer list. I'm sure that she can bring out the potential in those young kids. It sounds like she's up for the challenge!

Bren - Happy Birthday To You! :hb: Make sure you celebrate tonight!

Lori - thanks for your motivating words yesterday. I am so happy to be making progress with the law school apps and the diet! :cb:

Mitchy - I will pray that you have a successful job interview on Thursday. Please keep us posted on what happens!

Margie - praying that Adam and his unit return home safely!

beth1167 12-14-2005 03:19 PM

:dizzy: It's hard to keep up with everyone, so here's a general post.

The last couple of days have been pretty blah. I went to the doctor (rheumatologist sp?) that has been treating me for what she original said might be rheumatoid arthritis. Now she wants me to have nerve testing to rule out carpel tunnel syndrom. I have had pain/numbness etc in both of my hands and arms for the last 3 years or so (off and on). Pray that they figure out what it is. I have a young cousin that had similar problems. Her doctor told her to lose weight. She did and the problems went away. I wonder if mine may be completely weight related.

Yesterday I was driving down a stretch of road that was somewhat busy. This is road that has 2 lanes both ways, divided by a median and with trees on either side. A rarity in Houston. I saw a dog wandering around and I remember thinking........oh boy, not a good place for a dog to be. The thought crossed my mind that someone should do something before it gets hurt. The thought was fleeting and I soon forgot about it and drove on. Well this morning I drove down the same road on the way to work and I saw the dog dead on the side of the road. And that pretty much dictated the rest of the day for me.:(

Anyway, enough bringing everyone down. Sorry, not my usual self. It is good to see everyone is doing well though.

Till next post........

fitchick2be 12-14-2005 10:16 PM

Hi, everyone. I started eating better today, and that lasted until lunch!! I blew it big time the rest of today. Oh, well. I'll start over tomorrow.

EZMONEY 12-14-2005 10:26 PM

Wednesday Night

HI GALS:wave:

Waiting for pizza to come for my nephew and I. Angie has her monthly BUNKO going on tonight, my daughter went with her :barf: :barf:boyfriend:barf: :barf: to a pizza parlor, son is at the high school he teaches, at working the clock for the basketball game, step-d with her dad. So just me and the knucklehead nephew!!;)

BETH~Gee...let's see...weight goes away and feeling comes back? Sounds like a win-win to me ;) I know how you feel about the poor dog...:( just last week I saw one on the side of the road while I was taking my nephew to school...had a collar too. a sheriff was standing by it making a call...I think he dragged him out of the middle of the street...stayed with me all day. I have 2 golden retrievers that will get out at times, when my nephew or step-d doesn't close the door all the way, they go after someone walking their dog....to say HI!!.... but...there is a lot of traffic on my street. Angie and I have been thinking about getting the "electric fence" for them.

CHRISTINA~I am so sorry for your miscarraige. I cannot begin to share in that pain...but I can tell you...go out and be just as happy as you possibly can for your friend! God will work it through your life in a good way...I know you can't see that now...but HE WILL!! HE PROMISES US THAT!! My prayers are with you and your husband. Come on over and share the :jeno: with my nephew and I!

MARGIE~So glad to hear Adam is coming home. Juan is in the Baghdad also...he comes home in Jan. He has already opened up his Christmas package from me...nothing but "junk", a Hooters T-shirt and calander...he loves it!! That is where we go when he is on leave to welcome him back or send him off! You are right about Reggie Bush...I have followed him for 5 years now and it sure appears he is "legit" as the kids say. His step-father married his mom when he was 2, his dad had nothing to do with him when he was younger, I think he is trying to "get back into" Reggie's life...hope it works for Reggie's good...He would look awesome as a BEAR...in the "Sweetness" and Sayers....but...hummm....I think he looks much better wearing the RAIDER BLACK AND SILVER!!!! ....but as bad as we are...we won too many...hahahaha...games 4!...wow!! 4 stinkin' wins...looks like I owe my Bear fan buddy his 6 pack this year!! Try to stay "up" through the Christmas season with those "calls"!! Did I ever tell you that Angie went to high school with one of the Superbowl Bears? what was it '85 or so...anyway he was one of the ones the show Still Standing with Jamie Gertz if you ever watch that...she isn't here and I don't recall his name.

BREN~:woo: :gift: :hb: :bravo: :hat:  :balloons: Happy birthday! I hope you got your truck!!

LORI~Angie and I bought a fake tree when the kids quit wanting to go pick one out. We love ours!! K-Mart special!! 6 years old and still looks as good as the day we got her;) Dogtown sounds good to me!! My congrats to Mike!! I "PERSONALLY" know how hard it is to quit smoking...but I am going on 8 years now of NOT doing it. Wish I was his age when I quit!!

KYLNNTX~Glad all is well...have a safe trip.

MICHELE~Good luck with the job interview. Sounds like  with Jr.;)

AUNT SUE~Still sending the :sunny: How are those costumes doing? Prayers for your patient. Do get to spend some extra time with your family over Christmas? Hugs to the neices...

HILARY~Hope all is going well.

WILMA~Take it easy on all that baking...make sure to hide those cookies where "you" can't find them;)

ALANA JO~ Just love the boy's names!

FITCHICK:welcome:

Well pizza has been here...getting cold...later.........Gary

wilma12 12-15-2005 09:07 AM

Good Morning!

It's a blustery day! Blowing snow but not too cold. It's supposed to get really cold for the weekend. Grin and bear it is all we can do.

Inside it's nice and warm. It looks so nice in here with all the Christmas decorations and the tree. Last night I worked on my quilt for a few minutes - nice and cozy!!

Gary: I behaved! I baked chocolate chip cookies last nigh and I didn't eat a single cookie. I didnt want to get crumbs on my quilt. they sure looked good and DS has no problem downing half a dozen in one sitting.

Fitchick: Don't knock yourself down because of blowing it. Try to last longer each day and soon it'll be the whole day and then the week. I'm praying for strength for you!

Beth: Hope the doc finds out what is wrong. What incentive to lose weight!! I started because of health issues and they have gone away too. It's amazing what damage this extra baggage we carry around can do to us.
Praying for you too!

crk: I hope you go to the party and have a good time. Those friends will be sensitive to your feelings. It will be hard for you but remember God is there with you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Margie: What wonderful news about your nephew. Will he make it home for Christmas?

Blondie: Happy birthday!! Did you get your little red truck back? I know what you mean about getting up instead of in. I have a van and love the height of it too.

Lynn: Glad to see you back! It sounds like you and yours are doing great! Post when you can.

Michele: How did the interview go? What kind of job is it?

Lori: Let us know how your test results came out.

Sunny: Wherever you are, you are in our prayers. We miss you!

Hello to everyone else!

Have a wonderful day!

crk05 12-15-2005 11:24 AM

Hi everyone, just a drive-by posting today because I've got a lot going on!

I was stuck on a project at school yesterday but I finally got my boss's help and can move forward. As quickly as possible! I can't believe that in just a few short months I'll be finishing up my thesis. Scary!

Thanks to everyone who offered words of encouragement on the Christmas party. I definitely want to go and be there for my friend (the one that's having the baby) and meet up with some people I haven't seen in a while! I'm hoping to have a really good time while I'm there. :tree: Today I have to go shopping because they're having a white elephant gift exchange!

Have a great day everyone and STAY WARM! :snowglo:

spldwfe 12-15-2005 11:34 AM

I would love to join this Group, oh and how do you do that with your names and the pictures?? Its so cute

Mitchypoo 12-15-2005 01:03 PM

Wilma, the interview is today, i'll let you know how it goes. I've had this horrible cold, was in my jammies all day yesterday. Pray my nose doesn't start running during my interview....

spldwfe~:welcome3: and of course you can join us! The name graphics are mostly created by our dear SunnyD or Donna. Tell us more about you...

crk05 12-15-2005 02:08 PM

spldwfe - :welcome2: As Michele said, SunnyD makes them. I haven't gotten one yet either, just a 3fatchicks ticker and a few smilies! Anyway, it's very nice to have you here. This is a wonderful, supportive group of people. Keep on posting and tell us a bit more about yourself!

Michele - I'm keeping you in my prayers as you go on the interview!

Hiya gang!!
I've had blessing upon blessing and this is only Thursday!! The biggest one of the week was getting in here and finding a new "home".......with a great group!.. and it started with Dee over there, looking for a buddy!

Thanks SO much for the Birthday wishes! WOW! Ya'll made me feel plumb special!! I had a wonderful day..made my baklava per request....got it delivered and devoured shortly after. I shared my batch with my co-worker, who's DH said "This should be against the law"! Took the rest to my Mom's where I LEFT it! Their enjoyment made my day..makes my heart smile as well as my face..and that's how I "spent" my birthday..making baklava and hanging with Jesus!

Yesterday...whoo-hoo..I did get my truck back, Wilma!...then spent 3 hours trying to get the Ford place to sign off on the insurance check so I could turn it over to the Repair shop..the lady at the P&B shop office at the Ford place had a jelly fish in her pants.....was very "mean" to me..boohoo.....wouldn't inspect my truck, said "I should have an estimate from my Insurance Co., and she wouldn't inspect it without it, AND the repair shop shouldn't have done ANY work without one"....jeeze.... (never got one tho I asked for it) they just sent the check, minus my deductible..... I went to my agent, who called and told on her, which didn't win me a friend or influence any people, BUT...by golly, she inspected it when I went back and I was able to get the check signed and turned over.
Ever notice how quickly the enemy drops a bucket of crabs in our sand box when we are playing quite well and getting along with ourselves and others?

Then I made a run back to Mom's......spent the night, came home this morning, ran myself ragged, stopped when I ran down, to take a nap....woke up with a nasty sore throat..oh poo...Michele...I joined you it seems. BUT...I made a lovely cuppa peppermint tea, then one of ginger...listened to 2 CD's of Joyce Meyer on "Beside the Still Waters"....where I NEEDED to be...and I am feeling better already. I am now having a cup of amaretto tea with honey..oh yum!
I'll make some chicken soup tomorrow and be gentle with myself. I have really enjoyed my vacation days and other than my melt-down at Mom's Monday night...which even THAT,..God used for good...I have been truly "on top"....it's been awhile since I was at the top of the Mountain and the view is fabulous!

I'll be back later.....I need to get my long winded self to the kitchen and restore order before bed....night night all...
May God bless, heal, restore and renew....may He bring to you what you need at this moment.......
Bren..... now....Where's the timer?

Well I have to get out of my "jammies"....Angie won't let me watch football unless I am dressed!

Mitchypoo 12-17-2005 01:00 PM

Hi all :clause:

Well, the interview i thought went very well, but they had to speak to one other person and he was at lunch so they said they'd call me. They run background checks too, so i'm hoping that is why i didn't hear from them yet.
I wore a black pant suit to the interview~GARY! No jammies! I was feeling good during the interview and so i then went to lunch with Junior and we did some holiday shopping and we went to look at christmas lights that evening too and I guess i overdid it because yesterday i was worse, today is not so great either.

My friend from grade school and her hubby and 3 of her 5 kids are coming to visit tonight!! I haven't seen her in a couple years and my parents have not seen her either in a long time so we're excited! They came to go to Disneyland, they are here visiting from AZ. Can't wait to see her!

Wrapping and cards are on the list for today and cleaning and maybe some cooking. Yesterday i made peppermint marshmallows! They are really good, i can't believe it! Going to give them away as gifts with cocoa mix.

Anyone done with their holiday shopping?

Hello to all!

Hi Everyone!

It's 40 degrees here in sunny southwestern Illinois so GARY, the sun reached us! THANK-YOU! They are predicting snow for tonight though, so we shall see.

Got all my ebay packages mailed, all my CHRISTMAS cards (not holiday) mailed, got packages to friends mailed and so I suppose I'm getting there! Most of the shopping is done with the exception of mom and dad and Bob's dad - at 86, 88, and 88 years old, it's a dilemma. Dad loves Red Lobster, so there's always a gift certificate. Mom doesn't ever care if she eats at all! :o So you see, I AM adopted! :D

Speaking of eating, the diet went to heck with my hospital stay last weekend - I've not done desserts or anything like that, but I think I've been craving comfort food like mashed potatoes, roasts and things like that. Just babying myself - sigh - put LAWL on hold a couple of weeks until they figure out what the potassium deal is - going to the MD on Monday, so will know more then. They will also have my result from the carotid ultrasound.

MICHELE: NEver did get the cheescake! Where is it?? Keep us posted on the interview!

GARY: None of that political correct CR__ HERE!!! It's CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS! Now is that SO HARD to say???? I just love Rachel Ray don't you? I even watch all the repeats - makes Bob nuts, but oh well - it beats regular programming for the most part! I like the fake tree just fine too! Six years and still going strong for yours! THat's great! Mike is still smoke-free! Praise God! \0/

BREN: Glad you had a great birthday! :woo: Thanks for the info on Meniere's - after my appt. on Monday, she will probably refer me to an ENT person - we'll know more after that I suppose.

WILMA: My hero! How can you bake cookies and not eat just one? I told the kids that when they are off over Christmas vacation we will bake. My favorite is the toll house with the butterscotch chips - they are so good - maybe I'll just skip making those this year!

BETH: I'm a dog fanatic - have 3 of the fur babies myself - I cry every time I see a dead dog on the side of the road - it's so upsetting - did you get the nerve testing done? Keep us posted -

It's getting quiet around here - wondering if the boys have the girls tied up or something?? I better go -

Have a GREAT day everyone!!

I Can't Believe It

Angie and I went shopping at the produce market today.....when we got home I discovered that someone had stolen BABY JESUS out of our outdoor nativity....

I was going to put a big sign out that said: To the !#$@@!+-* that stole my baby Jesus have a *%%#@&^(!! Christmas!.....but Angie said it wasn't the christian thing to do.....

I'm still  ....and :(

Mitchypoo 12-17-2005 06:41 PM

There could be a lesson in that too, Gary. Maybe they needed baby Jesus more than you... or if they don't know it, someday they will.

mom2fivesweeties 12-17-2005 07:29 PM

Hey Gary,

You won't believe this but in the St. Louis area several years ago a Baby Jesus was stolen from a nativity set outdoors. The whole next year the people were getting photos of their Baby Jesus at different locations throughout the country. Baby Jesus was at the beach, up a mountain, on a boat, etc. The Baby Jesus was returned the following Christmas. They never did find out who did it. Maybe your Baby Jesus will travel???

Hello crew!!!
Michele...you should feel better very soon...as I'm sure I have your cold now. If we all shared..we'd all have just a teensy one, right? I woke up last night with a hard, croupy cough...couldn't find the ONE sample dose of Nyquil gel-caps I have somewhere...so made a run to Wally World. FIRST....I prayed! I am a big baby and I need to be able to answer the phone at work, should it ring. I pray it doesn't but some weekends I am required to actually "work". I am SO glad today is my half-day, as I have several hours for some recovery.
I pray that Job is YOURS! And you got thru it well, and got dressed for it too!
Oh I'd be in jammies all day today if it weren't for work!

Gary.....oh yum! Angie's Amaretto cheesecake sounds so good! I'd bought one many moons ago at Sam's, when I lived in Dallas......it's my favorite! I've made home-made maybe twice. Lucious. I don't have quite the crowd to share with that I used to, so my baking days are few and far between. Doing the baklava for my co-worker and a cake for Christmas will be the extent of it.
YES!! Woohoo! I did get all the financial mess taken care of and that lady at Arrow Ford needs to be on my prayer list.
OH NO! Someone stealing baby Jesus. There is so much of that type meaness going on. Here, they ...the mysterious THEY....pop the blow-ups so there are corpses of Santa, Snowman and so forth, littering yards.....and yep, THEY steal Baby Jesus around here too. I pray the conviction of the Holy Spirit upon them all!

Lori.....we have a lot of the 40's temps...but the wind cuts it down and makes for a not so fun day. Hey, if you're craving taters.....it could be your body wanting the "potassium"? Sure it is! I pray you get some answers very soon and relief for the symptoms. Be good to you today, whatever that entails.

Have a wonderful day everyone! I'll be back...Bren

Asking For Prayers

I don't have time for details, but my daughter's boyfriend's father Dennis has taken a turn for the worse today....very serious...asking for prayers for the Markham family in their time of need.

fitchick2be 12-18-2005 10:02 PM

I have blown it so much lately!! I get all motivated, then a short while later, I'm stuffing myself - sugar, sugar, sugar! How to get motivation that lasts??? Please help!

fitchick2be 12-18-2005 10:03 PM

And how come it says I'm subscribed to this thread, but I don't get any emails telling me there are more replies? Thanks.

wilma12 12-18-2005 11:30 PM

Gary: Dennis and all of you are in my prayers. Please keep us posted. HHHUUGGSSS!!!

beth1167 12-19-2005 11:14 AM

Greetings Everyone

The last few days have been better. I got an unexpected bonus from work. With that I went and got my treadmill out of layaway yesterday. I got up this morning and walked/jogged for only about 10 minutes........but hey it's a start. :tread: I want to increase and get the habit going for every morning.

I haven't gone in for nerve testing yet. I am waiting until after the holidays. My insurance changes in January too, so I want to wait to make sure I go somewhere that is covered.

Wilma - Thanks for your prayers. I'm thinking about you in that blistery weather. It has been chilly down here (OK don't laugh, but 30's is chilly here) It rained alot last week and we had alot of flooding. Then the temperature dropped. This week it is suppose to warm up to 50-60. Can you believe. The weather is so fickled. :sunny: :snow4: :beach:We have had weather in the teens and 60 + all in the last 3 weeks. No wonder everybody is getting sick around here.

Christina - congratulations on your scholarly success. Just a few more months...........:encore: and you will certainly have reason to celebrate.

Amanda - :welcome: Not sure if I welcomed you are not. This is certainly the place to be.

Michele - I pray that all goes well with regards to your interview. If it takes a couple days or so then it probably means they are doing background checks, which also means they may do "pee" test too. I have had a couple of those. Actually, for the job I am at now, I had to have a little bit of hair cut. They can do more accurate drug screening that way. It doesn't bother me though because everyone gets checked out nowadays.

Blondee - hope everything with your truck has worked out ok. Don't let the meanies get you down. They think they are doing their job, yet they missed the class day on customer service. All will work out though.

Gary - special prayers for Dennis and his family. I pray that God gives them strength and courage to face the troubles ahead and that He comforts them in their time of need.

I can't believe someone stole your Baby Jesus. :?: Actually, unfortunately I think that pranks like that aren't too unheard of. Someone who thinks they are being funny and hopefully will eventually realize that it was wrong.......and like Michele said.......maybe they need Jesus more and don't know it yet.

Lori - Hope you are feeling well. You are certainly on the ball. I still have so much shopping to do........and Christmas cards. Well, at least we don't see my husbands side of the family until New Years. So, I am going to cheat and not buy their gifts until after Christmas.

Fitchick - Hang in there. I can sooooooooo empathize with you. I do really great for a few days, even a couple of weeks at a time, then I get impatient and discouraged and "fall off the wagon" I just keep telling myself, start over, it's OK. I have 4 people in my family that love to eat all of the wrong things and have a serious aversion to activity. We are all trying to change that though and be supportive of each other. My kids were really excited about the treadmill though. I am hoping that they maintain that excitement and really "go to it". My daughter (blood, the other 3 are my husbands) is the exact opposite. She pushes away from the table, not when she is full, but when she is no longer hungry. Also, she eats pretty healthy and is tiny to boot - only 5' and 105 lbs. She is my inspiration. I must have done something right while raising her. Anyway, don't get discouraged. We are here for you!

Hope everyone has an awesome day.:)

Monday

HI GALS:wave:

Thanks for the prayers for Dennis. I haven't heard any news on him today but, my daughter sent me an e-mail Christmas card from work thanking me for teaching her about our savior, taking her to church and having her attend our church school. She is not sure how she would cope through this tough time without Jesus.

On another note....GO CHECK OUT CHARLES78 on the Biggest Looser thread....the last thread in diet central...the thread is called ANOTHER THREAD...the guy is AMAZING!!!!! .....you have to go to his personal site to see the change in him in 2 years....I think he lost about 300 pounds! anyway go see it!!!!!!!!!!

Blessing for all...Gary

EZMONEY 12-19-2005 06:00 PM

Almost forgot...BETH......maybe you and the kids can come up with a "challenge"....some type of reward to the one with the most time logged on the treadmill (or other exercise activity) after a period of time....make the "PRIZE" worth it!!!
