mom2fivesweeties 08-24-2005 10:26 PM

GOOD EVENING EVERYONE!!

How are you all doing on this fine Wednesday evening? The littles went to Awanas tonight and they just love it! It's their second year and Bob and I think it's such a great program!

Sue: Thanks for letting me know about your dad having the surgery. I'm glad it worked well for him. I think the replacement surgeries have come a long way. My dad will be 88 years old in November and had a complete hip replacement a couple of years ago. He walked around on a broken hip for weeks before he had anything done - it's too bad I'm adopted! Sure wish I had his guts and motivation! :) I had 5 female surgeries back in the late 70's and early 80's and I'm just a big baby now when it comes to surgeries. I have to say, though, the knee is a LOT better in the week since I banged it up - I am going to just pray for the best and if I can walk and lose weight, I'm sticking with that until it's absolutely imperative I get the surgery.

Margie: So you are on a river too! Well that's why you and I have all that lovely heat and humidity! We have some dear relatives in Columbus, OH and I just love that area - we were up there a couple of years ago during the summer and it was really nice then. Thanks for letting me know about your friend's knee replacements! That is SO encouraging to hear! And he was only 45! It seems that all the docs around here try to talk you out of the surgery. Do they do the replacements on out-patient now? I know that most everything is done that way anymore.

Gary: Glad your little league team is doing so well. We caught a little bit of it out here. Our youngest son's birth-father was in the minor leagues out in Calif. and he just LOVES baseball - he's really good at it too at a mere 7 years old! I have no idea what a severed anterior cruciate ligament is, but it sounds painful!! Ouch!! I'm so thankful for all your prayers and for my sweet hubby who has been babying me - my knee is SO much better! Onward and upward!

OFF TOPIC: OFF TOPIC!!!!

Are any of you computer wizards? I downloaded Norton Internet Security last night and when all of it is turned on, I cannot access the internet nor my email. So I turn the security off and I can - well what is the point of having it? I paid around $50.00 for it and I don't want to waste my money so I went to the website and it had about 3 pages explaining what could cause this and what to do about it. SIGH - I have a degree in elementary/special education, NOT computers! Can anyone explain how to remedy this situation in layman's terms????

Thanks!!!

Margie B. 08-25-2005 08:36 AM

YIPPPPEEEEE - from me too!

EZ - Yes, I saw almost the entire game! :D :D Even DD said she wanted the gold team to win, didn't know who I was for, guess she just like them better. I agree, I thought the umps were lousy - :s: especially the one at home plate! I do think the little guy on the other team had a home run taken away from him but that didn't effect the outcome of the game.

Hey, what's up with that Manager's moustache? :dizzy: I think it's neat and he had better keep it now, - at least until after the games are over! Thanx for letting me know about Saturday, it will be 3:00 my time, which is good, after tennis team practice.

First practice for our 'new' tennis team is Saturday noon, so far I have 7 kids signed up, I'm getting kinda excited, :coach: suppose to start league play week after Labor Day.

And I remember NOT THE MOMMY, - NOT THE MOMMY - thanks.

Sue - Have a great weekend camping with that fabulous little neice. Kaylee Rose - seems fitting doesn't it, your own little 'Rose', so sweet and beautiful. :bb: I also see EZ being good for big brother advice, been there, done that, that's why I appreciate it so much (and usually straight at you and blunt, he don't mess around!) which I also appreciate, no bones about it!

mom2fivesweeties - I don't know if they do any replacements as outpatient yet - don't give the insurance company any ideas okay? They already don't way to pay for anything anymore as it is. A little while in the hospital is good to help you get back on your feet quicker! Keep us posted. . .

Sorry to say but I'm not near as knowledgeable on the computer as I would like to be, - have thought about taking some more classes at the local college but when? And how would I pay for them? Ahhh, maybe one of these days.

Well, heading to the courthouse, my oldest brother was elected County Treasurer (tax collector) last fall and is being sworn in today. :judge: Had to close out the fiscal year or something before he could take office, so it's today. Baked about 100 cookies :T :cookie: :cookie: last night, so I guess we're going to party a little. :hat: :woo: My dad just left (retired) county office about a year and a half ago so it will be nice to have bro here now. Will check in again later, - hugs & prayers to all - Margie

Thursday Morning

MICHELE ~ So sorry. Prayers for the family.

LORI ~Happy to hear your youngest son loves baseball, and that your knee is better! Not much on computer advice here, Angie and the kids take care of all that Norton stuff for me.

MARGIE Great game! The managers moustache is becoming quite famous around here! On the CBS San Diego news alot of the staff, men and women are wearing fake ones when they give the up-dates of the games.

Good luck with the new tennis team...I am going to miss it, now that my daughter is out of college...she has tried to get into a couple of tournaments with her doubles partner or her boyfriend, but they cancelled one for HEAT and one for lack of participants. She still practices a couple of days a week with her boyfriend.

Well, off to work!

HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES!!

wilma12 08-27-2005 11:07 AM

Good Morning!

I'm sorry I haven't posted as often as I should have. I thought with being on holidays I'd have more time. My schedule is way off and I know I'll have a hard time adjusting when I get back to work on Monday. I've had fun this week visiting with family. My sis and I got to do some shopping too. We're also getting a room ready for youngest DS to move into. The one who got married got the good room and now he's moved out so the other one gets the room. We did some painting and DH put up some trim. It looks really good.

Gary: Thanks for the info on Monster in Law. I am one now you know!! I really want to watch it but will wait a bit before renting it. I'm going to check out the site about the walking man. I need inspiration to get these last few pounds off.

Michele: That is so tragic. I'll definitely be praying for your cousin and her family. My niece had a classmate commit suicide a couple of weeks ago and it's going to be so hard to go back to school and deal with it.

Well, better get some cleaning done. My house is still a disaster and I need to get going on it. Later today I want to sew some cushions for my living room. I found some awesome fabric and can hardly wait to use it.

I'm supposed to be getting some pics of the wedding on line so I'll forward them here as soon as I get them. I can hardly wait to show them to you.

Have a great day!

Mitchypoo 08-27-2005 01:19 PM

Gary, that is inspirational about the walker. Thanks for the link.

I have nothing terribly exciting to report. Not staying POP, no news on where i'm moving, hopefully i'll know more soon.

EZMONEY 08-27-2005 08:48 PM

Oh Darn

SHUCKS.................... :(

Our local boys lost today...they had one of those innings where they just fell apart....congrats to Hawaii (the Northwest)....

hot here today!!! just got back from Costco...$655.00 less in my account! ouch!! :o

mom2fivesweeties 08-28-2005 12:46 PM

GOOD MORNING!

How is everyone doing on this beautiful Lord's Day?? Haven't been to church as they are all steps and no handicap access. We go to a beautiful little country church with around 70 people in the congregation. We just love it. Hope to get back next week.

Gary: Sorry about your team - WOW on Costco!! With 7 people to buy for, I stay away from there and Sam's - it just is SO much $$$$ at one shot - no need to give the old man a heart attack at 51!!! I had seen articles about the man walking in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. It is SO inspirational.

Michelle: Will be praying for all involved. That is so sad.

Margie: I had to laugh at your post about the insurance companies. You are so right. Even 19 years ago they tried to run me out of the hospital on the SAME DAY as my C-Section! My ob/gyn about had a fit! I stayed a few days anyway. My sister-in-law is a nurse and her best friend is on the ortho floor of the hospital we all go to. She said 5-6 days! :o Who would watch the littles????

Wilma: Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Sue: Thanks for the prayers!

Computer Dilemma: I un-installed the Norton. I installed McAfee - same issues. I found another company that had one year free virus protection and it seems to be okay. I can access the internet and my email - however it isn't scanning the email - I emailed our server to find out if they scan it which may be the reason the other program isn't - I'm TOO OLD for all this newfangled technology!!! :joker:

Have a GREAT Day!!!!

EZMONEY 08-28-2005 07:57 PM

Sunday Evening

HI GALS

Well~ Little League games are over~~ Our local team won against Japan today, in the consolation 3rd place game, so they went out on a high note~~#3 in the world 'ain't bad! Now, not sure what myself, Ryan, Angie, Amanda and Summer are going to do for fun  Seems like every afternoon and evening we have been watching 2 games for the last three weeks.

LORI That Costco $$$ wasn't a record...but close :( we have found out~~for our family~~ that it is cheaper to shop there...we have the storage and extra fridge...Angie kept a record for a year and we certainly did save $$$...it is hard to come up with large amounts sometimes...however in the long run we are better off...we have our system...and we stay away from processed and frozen convience foods. Oh, and we hadn't been since a couple of days before we went to Washington in June. We used to have McAfee...did not like it...for us, it was a lot of trouble...er, for Angie it was a lot of trouble

WILMA Bummer....having to go back to work...bet they will be glad to have you back though. Monster in law :?: ...NOT YOU! ;)

MICHELE Glad you enjoyed... thefatmanwalking site...I give the guy a ton of credit for trying. Good luck on finding a place.

SUE How was camping? Glad the weather (was?) nice for you and not too hot. I will see what I can do about making the shower ;)

Gonna go cut up some cantaloupe and watermelon for dinner, already have enchiladas ready for the oven tomorrow night...boy did I heat up the kitchen...it has been super hot here...high 90's...and we don't have air conditioning...almost never needed it but a few days a year before...weather has changed. Have a sauce for burgers already made for tonight....going to try to get Angie to grill 'em...she just said she is starting the grill....see ya!

EZMONEY 08-29-2005 06:33 PM

Monday

Prayers For All My Friends In The Path Of Katrina....may You All Be Safe And Dry..........gary

wilma12 08-30-2005 08:56 AM

Good Morning!

I was sure I posted yesterday but I don't see it here anywhere. I'm back at work and going back wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's amazing how quickly one feels like they've never had a holiday!! It is good to be back into a routine again.

I would like to ask for prayer for my married kids. DIL went to work after her time off for the wedding to find out that her hours had been cut. So, now they're both out looking for work. Please pray that they both will find jobs. It shouldn't be a problem but they do need the money now.

I lost another 2 lbs. I think it was the busyness from the wedding but I'll take it. I'm getting so close to my goal and it feels strange. People are telling me how good I look and I'm finding it hard to believe that the weight is coming off after all the struggles I've had to try to get it to leave. Thank God it's working and that I feel healthy.

Gotta get to work! Talk to you all again soon!
