My DD Violet's fever broke and she woke up without it yesterday, and it didn't return. She seems fine today as well.

I was there and was told he would not start treatment until her surgery is healed. She is 82 so I expect that has something to do with it. He also said he would not start treatment until certain tests came back. I don't know, all I know is that is what he said, and I heard it, and I asked the same question myself. Why wait? That is what he said.
should I argue the point? I really haven't had these discussions in the past before. I am trying to do what i know. He said that chemo treatment for people over 75 years old is not researched well. |
auntnelly, of course you want to take the doctor's advice. Has she had a PET scan ? That may be one of the tests he is talking about. That tells you just about everything that is going on in your body if you want to know it or not.
I misunderstood your post I thought you meant in 5 or 6 weeks they would see what they can do. I am sure he probably has some options in mind but won't decide which way to go until all tests are in. There are many kinds of cancer for instance there are several different kinds of breast cancer, they don't all get the same treatment. Trust your doctor and more inportantly trust the great physician, a great and loving God. |
Bargoo Yes of course we are trusting God for her health. I was just wondering. I THOUGHT he said CAT scan, but he had an accent, so he might have said PET scan. They were to mail the appointment information and they were to mail me a copy. If I don't hear by the end of the week, I will call (I have permissions signed)
Also a bone scan and a genetic test on the tumor tissue, which would take 3 to 4 weeks to get back. It will tell him the chance of the cancer returning. He insisted he would do nothing until that test is back. Her cancer is hormone fed, so one of the treatment options he is thinking about is hormone therapy. Just a pill for the next 5 years. He really is hoping he doesn't have to suggest chemo, but said he would if he felt is necessary. She could always decline if she chose to, I suppose. |

He may have said CAT scan , my doctor ordered a PET Scan and a CAT scan, I reported back to him that I had the PET Scan but didn't have the CAT Scan, he said the CAT scan is part of the PET Scan. Any lab work I have , blood tests, bone scans , any test , the results are done , completed and in the Oncologists hands , the same day. Most of these things I learned by experience, I knew nothing as I started treatment. I can't say that our two cases are the same, just giving you some of my experience. I find it helps to write any questions down and take it with me to my appointments, I find they like that, that way they can answer all your questions, that they might omit inadvertantly. |
