  • Rosebud, congratulations on your new home. August will be here before you know it.
  • CONGRATULATIONS ROSEBUD!!

Sorry I haven't been around much ladies.

I am still working out of town all week and with the new granddaughter/chores/LIFE in general it is tough to get here for "quality" posting.

I hope...HOPE to have a 4 day week-end this coming Memorial Day week-end and be able to catch up...

although we are having a big party here and a graduation party to go to also...

    Be Good!
  • Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've struggled with my weight for about 10 years now and after much prayer, I found myself reaching for other Christians for support. So, here I am. I have decided to turn it over to my Lord and rely on Him and whoever He puts in my path for help. I just need some support.

So, I'm a wife and mother. I stay home with our three kids who are homeschooled. That's amazing, btw. My weight became a problem when I had a miscarriage and I've struggled ever since. I went from 120 pounds to 200 in a matter of 3 months when my hormones were jolted from pregnancy. I went on to pack more pounds with three more pregnancies and I'm losing the battle on my own.

So, that's a little about me. I'm glad to be here!
  • Welcome , Blahgirl, and good luck. This is a great place for support and encouragement.
  • B-GIRL ~ forget about the past, but learn from it. FOCUS ON TODAY! Start eating as healthy as you can, taking it oneday@atime. I find this so helpful for everything in this life; and the bible has some verses about this too -- ie Philip 3:13/14; Isaiah 43:18; Matt 6:34.

BARGOO & GARY ~ THANKS! We're very excited about our new home; and have started sorting & packing already. Have sent 3 boxes & one bag to goodwill this week already.

We're having lovely spring weather here this week (between the 60's & 70's) and at least half of my tulips are up & blooming already. Some of the Lilies are budding as well ...

We have been staying home doing stuff around here over the last week, as I already mentioned. Our stove conked out on us so I ordered a new one and it should be here on June 1st. We had planned on buying a new one for the new house anyways, so now we'll just have it earlier that's all.

KAREN ~ hope those tornadoes & twisters have moved away.

Hope all our friends here are having a lovely spring and better weather with all the rain you need during this time, especially down TEXAS way. You're in our prayers; take good care ... Rosebud
  • New here and glad to see this forum.

I'm a homeschooling mom of 7. 3 of my kids have special needs. I'm also a children's pastor and working my way through Berean classes to be a certified minister.

B-girl, I understand the rapid gain after your loss...I don't remember gaining after our loss, but when my kids were diagnosed with various things I packed on 75 pounds. 50 of that in just a couple of months WHILE NURSING TWINS! I will be praying for you as you take these first steps toward getting back to a healthy weight.

I started working out and eating better a month ago. I never thought I'd be one to exercise, but I'm hooked now and workout 5-6 days a week.
  • Welcome, sevencallmemom and good luck !
  • 7CallmeMom ~ wow, you sure have a full plate, that's for sure -- glad you found us over here; and that you have found an exercise regime that you're hooked on ...

We are having summer temps here again -- we had lovely spring temps for a few days, then some for our gardens; and the tulips & daffodils are lovin' that (we have blooms all the way down the side garden now). I think the frost is finally leaving the ground: our back porch door almost closes now. I'll go by that when I think the ground at our lot has finally settled down.

DH set up our 3-way air conditioner that's also a dehumidifier; once you get rid of the humidity on an 85 degree day, you feel much better really. I think we use the dehumidifier function more than the air conditioner, as it takes away the stickiness in the air, and cools the place down too.

Time to go get some more stuff done; sorting, sorting, & more sorting and packing. I do some reading at night to relax -- just fun, fluff stuff mostly. Hope you all had a nice weekend, and have a good week coming up; take good care too ... Rosebud
  • Thanks so much for the welcome, ladies! My plate is full, but I wouldn't have it any other day.

It's getting really hot here. Sent my oldest to youth camp this morning and I'm grateful I decided to do a sleep at home camp for my children's church kids this year...5 days in our nicely air conditioned fellowship hall sounds like way more fun (for me LOL) that 5 days out there.
  • Hi GALS

I hope everyone had a great week-end with their loved ones.

We were busy here as usual for the long week-end. I ended up working a half day on Friday, had really hoped for 4 full days

All was well though as I spent most of the afternoon at my son and dil's house watching my GRANDdaughter with my daughter, who was babysitting her, as my dil had to go back to work and my daughter had the day off. Angie and I then spent the evening over there with our now, every Friday date night, watching her so the kids can have a couple of hours of free time. They usually just stay home and take care of chores and errands.

Saturday we took off to Starbucks for our 3.5 mile walk with the dogs before Angie went to bell choir practice and to teach a yoga class. In the afternoon we went to a graduation from college party for one of my nieces at the park. We took the dogs there too, they just loved it

Sunday, after church, we had our big shuffleboard tournament with about 20 friends and family here. We decided on carne asada instead of burgers and brats this year...one of my son's friends (and adopted son of mine ) that comes every year was disappointed...he gets Mexican food at home every day since he is one He laughed and said he always looks forward to the brats since his mom has no idea what they are. Labor Day or the 4th we will make it up to him

The weather has been great...however...it got really cold and windy yesterday afternoon so we decided to skip the shuffleboard game. The guys were really busy watching the INDY and NASCAR and the kids were all playing basketball and corn-hole so no one really missed it.

Angie and I went to the beach this morning for our 4 mile walk with the mutts then to the beach cafe for breakfast, the weather was really awesome. We started our walk at 6:15 and it was a bit chilly but when we finished, an hour later, it was really warm.

I spent the rest of the cleaning up from the party, which was almost all done by all the night before, and putting the patio chairs and tables up. After Angie finished a yoga class at the studio we both hit the BBQ hard and got it all cleaned up for the next party.

Then I packed my truck for another week out of town Although I am very blessed to have work

My weight was consistent this past week. I weighed 188 when I left and 188 still today....and that is just a bummer Soon I will be back home, I think, and maybe I can get serious on these 10 pounds I want to knock-down!

I hope all is going well with you all

I almost forgot to post the website where you can see the purses Angie has been making in her free time. It is posted in General Chatter too in the etsy thread ~ www.nonnizu.etsy.com

    Welcome sevencallmemom
  • I just got back from Marfa , my grandsons High School graduation. He sure gave a good speech and he did not even act like he was nervous about giving it. I would of been. They gave everyone flowers to give away to the ones that meant the most to him and he came to us and his parents first and he gave us white roses. His speech was just awesome! He got several scholarships .
Moms and others check your sodium content in your foods. We are not suppose to have over 2400 to 2500 in sodium but when you start checking you may be getting more than you think your getting that has allot to do with our weight. If your like me I like my food salty well that just puts extra weight on me and it is so hard at first to do without added salt but you can do it, you can do anything as long as you can do it with Jesus , he gives us the strength. I was bouncing up and down and it had a-lot to do with my sodium content you will be surprised what has sodium , eggs, coffee decaf coffee, tea but decaf tea has none. Dr. Phil McGraws food guide has helped me a-lot on the sodium content I have been getting. If you eat pickles and I did 1 sour pickle 3 1/4 long is 785 mg 1 sweet spear is 188, sweet gerkin is 235mg, ketchup ,1 tbsp is 178, that was hard to take there I use ketchup on everything! Love salsa, 2 T. 139! Maybe this will help you in loosing.

  • I am new here. I joined tonight. I really want to lose weight. I have been trying for years now. I got down to 165 about three years ago and then I got pregnant. Now, I can't seem to lose the weight again. I am hoping that I can get some support here and that that will help me. I pray at night for will power and the strength to control my eating. It seems like I am not strong enough to control it. I am an emotional eater so I get exhausted when I work so hard to keep my appetite in check. I can do really well for a week or two. Any support or encouragement or advice is very welcome. I hope I can make some friends here and create some accountability for myself and stick with it this time.
  • You have made a start. Do you have a diet and exercise plan ? If you haven't already started you can start right now. Good luck.
  • Hi, this is my first post on the forum. When I saw there was a Christian group, I made a B-line in this direction. I'm so thankful you all are here, it makes being the "new girl" a bit more comfortable. I really need to lose a good 100 lb., and have dieted successfully (-80 lb.) previously, but I really feel like a buddy or two...or three, would be a great encouragement. It's great to be here. I look forward to meeting all of you.
