Kathy - glad your knee is better :woohoo: for still getting some exercise in!
Wilma - glad to hear from you and that DH is doing OK after his surgery. What does your quilt look like? I haven't quilted in ages! Ronni - Polish duck soup? Pray tell - what is it? I think it was probably smart to give the kids the day off too. Mixing it up now and again never hurts! Courtney - prayers for finding a new job ascending. And - DO contact the hospital. They should be able to work with you on a payment plan. I know our hospital here is negotiating with a lot of folk right now. Shy - glad things are going well with you! We miss you! Looks like you've started to lose weight again - which is GREAT! Rosebud - prayers continuing for your leg! I think the cold weather is moving out this weekend :crossed: A good, but busy day here for me. Meetings all day and then I had to do teacher training after school for two hours. It was tiring, but I did manage to do 30 minutes on the wii, and will probably do an hour of tennis and bowling and the like with DH yet tonight. Good thing I had cooked ahead over the weekend! Weight is still within a lb. up or down every day, so I think I got maintenance figured out! Until we travel next weekend anyway  Have a great evening! Prayers ascending for all! Blessings! I am so glad I joined this post. I get encouragment from reading everyones post. Thanks to all of you for praying for my knee. It is still sore, but doing much better.
Went to the doctor today for my routine thyroid checkup and it was normal. The last 2 checkup my meds stayed the same. I have been going every 3 months for a checkup but she changed it to 6 monthis this time. YEAH! She was very excited to see that my triglycerides went from 186 to 126. My cholesterol stayed the same (in a good range). All in all, it was a good checkup. The past 2 days we have had meetings at work and have another one tomorrow. With the meetings come the lunch time menu of chicken cheese steaks and pizza. Yesterday I had a 1/2 of chicken cheese steak and ate carrots instead of the chips. Today I had one peice of cheese pizza and again ate carrots instead of chips. I tried my best to calculate my points and hopefully it doesn't throw me off to much when I step on the scales. I've been doing well and I don't want to get myself going down the trail I was on before. I have exercised twice this week and plan on getting up at 5:00 tomorrow morning. I get up whether my DH does or not. I want to have 3 days of exercise during the week and try to get another day in on Sat. or Sun. Bev - Our continued prayers are with you and your family. Wilma - I hope your husband continues to do better each day. We will keep him in our prayers. Congrats on keeping the snacking in control while at home. I have always wanted to make a quilt but have yet to do it. Maybe some day! Have a great night everyone. Kathy |
Thank you Kathy, Ronni and Rennie!
I may check out al-anon....not a bad thought! I'm glad that people are feeling better. I am SO thankful for this page. Now, if anyone wants to do my statistics homework...let me know! :D may you all walk in His blessings! Bev |
I am home for the week-end...I will be back!
BEV ~ TWO WORDS for your brother....SALVATION ARMY!....I will share later...gotta go.... Later ~ Gary |
Bev-prayers continue for your brother and you. Can't help much with stats-we called it "sadistics" when we had it in college. My sis is taking a stats class on-line right now too and was asking what I remember just yesterday. Unfortunately, I had to tell her that I had forgotten more than I had learned:lol:
Gary-glad you're home for the weekend! Time to relax a bit;) Heard it was in the low 80's out there today and I'm very, very jealous! Laurie-You may not want to know about traditional Polish duck soup (Czarnina). Some people call it blood soup or black soup and yes, it has blood in it along with the duck meat. Also, prunes, sugar, and vinegar-has a real sweet and sour taste and is actually pretty good. You serve it over noodles or potatoes. My MIL made me learn to make it for DH, even though she still makes it FOR his 2 older sisters-go figure....Never could actually find out how many calories it has, but I don't eat very much of it-just not what I grew up with and a little goes a long way for me;) Courtney-prayers for your family and for you in finding another job. I know God will bless you with something soon. Enjoy the play! Rosebud-sounds like we're having the same weather right now! I keep waiting for the 'January thaw' but it's sure not happening yet. Prayers for healing for your leg. Kathy-glad your checkup went well! Hello and God bless to everyone else. Have a wonderful weekend! You're all in my prayers! |
Gary - I look forward to hearing what you have to say!
Ronni - thanks for the prayers. i have to agree that statistics is sadistic! I keep thanking GOD that Dennis is safe. That all of you are safe! Jobs are coming, finances are fine. God is in control!!!! |
Kathy :woohoo: great job staying on plan this week. It really is about the thousands of little choices that we make - every day - carrots instead of chips! (Gary - if you are reading this - translate that to Coke Zero instead of http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/8230/dorstig6wi.gif)
Bev - while I was that odd duck in class that loved stats, I need to leave that homework for you! Keep up - don't get behind and you will be OK. Prayers continuing for you - if you can lose weight (which is VERY tough to do), you can pass STATS! Ronni - OK, I think I will stick to vegetarian black bean soup this weekend  You earn kudos for learning to make that "delightful" concoction  Gary - glad you are back for the weekend - doing the usual dog-coffee walk in the morning? We missed you! Hope everyone had a good Friday. I spent much of the afternoon/evening with our pastor preparing for our church visioning event coming up. I will be leading the congregation through the process and I wanted to make sure pastor and I were "in sync". Well, gotta fly - I'm up for creating the PowerPoint presentations for Sunday! Hope you all have a blessed weekend - prayers continuing for all! |
THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE ~ I so appreciate those prayers for my leg; they are working becuz I was able to get some sleep last night. I'm using a new antibiotic salve now for awhile so let's hope that does the trick along with all those great prayers! TYF
WILMA ~ prayers your DH's arm feel better real soon; glad you are enjoying the time spent together ... KATHY ~ so glad that your check-up had such great results; prayers that continues. RONNI ~ I'm not sure that duck soup is my kinda soup; but if it keeps DH happy, freeze some in containers for him, so you only have to make it now and then; and you can have something else. My Dh just loves that noodle soup you get at Chinese restaurants and almost always orders that the rare time we go there, but I like the egg rolls myself; makes a nice, light lunch though. Thanks for the prayers! LAURIE ~ yes, they are predicting better temps soon ... so grateful for the prayers for my leg. Do you just pretend to bowl and play tennis, or is it all on the screen? I hear people talking about the WII a lot, but only have a bit of an idea of what it's like; do you play games like a virtual reality type of thing? HI TO EVERYONE ELSE ~ hope you have a great weekend ... :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: ^^PRAYERS^^ ascending for you and yours ... |
:)...thanks for the reminder Scooter!

^^PRAYERS^^ for everyone; hope you all have a blessed weekend! :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Everyone!
After not eating the best of food for three days I'm back on schedule today and feel much better. I'm glad the meetings are over and work will be back to normal routine. I was so exhausted when I got home from work last night that I fell asleep in the chair. Now that our Consultant is gone we will be busy implementing all the new financial info and making a lot of other changes. Each year brings new changes and challenges, but that's what helps to make the job interesting. My husband and I would appreciate your prayers for our son Donald. As many of you know we are seeking guardianship of the 3 foster kids we have they are 3 boys and brothers. Donald is the middle child and has a hard time relating to parents. He never had much of a relationship with his bio parents and therefore he doesn't know how to relate to us. He thinks we are being nosy when we ask how his day is, etc. We need wisdom on how to deal with him and how we can get him to open up. He is a great kid and does well in school, but just not well with parents. I trust you all have a great weekend. Kathy |
HI GALS
WOW! we just might set a record of posts here in CE for one month :carrot: So awesome to see the Lord's work through all of us :) Even BIG POWER CHICK JENNIFER snuck in here for a visit:hug: My "rock" is right here but sometimes I just stick around in General Chatter for the "quick hits" while I visit with Angie and watch TV. Or I am bust setting up the 5K's with my limited computer time....I am a very slow keyboarder :D Then whammo I find myself way behind here on my posting! I will remind you that I do read the posts almost every single day (as long as I have computer access if I am away at work) and I always am in prayer for you all. Not much going on here. I am back to working out of town for a short time, probably two weeks or so. We are staying in an apartment, last Thursday we had 9 guys in it...it is a 3 bedroom but we had air mattresses in every room. Not the most ideal of conditions but with the economy our boss can't get us all hotel rooms. When times were good we all got our own rooms, then we had to 2-man them, now it's a free-for all! Luckily my brother and I are lead dogs and can be a bit bossy if needed and "claim" our space. Seriously though we are all working it out and our wages have not been cut so far so that is a big plus. The guys that have roomed with us before all want me to make my lasagna next week....not sure if I will but it is cool to hear them rave about it :) But then these guys are easy....just load everything up with meat and cheese and they think I'm a gourmet cook :D Angie took Lara, my step-daughter (forgot so many new kids here!) to the airport this morning to fly back to NY for school. I took the dogs out for 3.5 miles on an absolute gorgeous morning. Was able to get a haircut in, vacuumed the house, did some grocery shopping for my lunches/dinners out of town next week, cleaned out the fountain...YEEECH!.....we had it shut off and the birds did their business in it....pretty green nasty water! Even got in a half hour nap while UCLA was playing....which did not go well for me at the end! How in the heck do you go 12 minutes almost without scoring a basket? I will try to stay a bit closer here, I think my brother will have his computer next week....so if I can :s: sneak in a peek here....don't think I want 9 men looking over my shoulder here at 3FC  They just wouldn't understand! Anyway, even if I don't post I will check in with prayer  SCOOTER ~ You are going to be skin and bones if you keep that Wii up! has the word addicting come up yet? ;) It sounds like something that would give me trouble! Not sure if it would be something that just Angie and I would use. NO! on the coffee date. Although Angie did have to take Lara to the airport and I was dog walking alone anyway, we saw a CLOSED sign posted on our new coffee shop when we took the kids/they took us out for our anniversary dinner last week. The place we ate at was right next door. I guess the bad economy hit them hard right up...we shall see if someone else takes it over. keep up the business at church. Mean  just mean  on the hearing aid trick ;) Although not hearing out of one of my ears does have it's benefits....like rolling over on the pillow during one of those "talks" ;) COURTNEY ~ WOW! How exciting going to the BIG SHOW! I can honestly say I did not vote for our next president but I am a proud American and looking forward to the future! So happy you may get a glimpse of it  I think it would be easier if you just came out and visited Angie and I than for us to send you any weather :) It is 73 right now on my temp gauge....but then it is in the cool of the evening here....5:00! BEV ~Sorry about your brother. I have not found many details on his age and such. I will tell you that my brothers and a good friend went through the Salvation Army program here in San Diego with much success. My one brother has been sober for 20 years I think, my little brother passed away and was semi-successful and my buddy, well he failed the program. But I will say that he did not do what he was told to do, my brother that did turned his life around tremendously. WILMA ~Hey old friend! Prayers for your DH :) ROSEBUD ~ I am sorry it is so cold there for you  How is your sister doing? I pray each day for your leg. How is Niko taking the cold? Any new friends in the new neighborhood? RONNI ~ I am sorry about the situation in your marriage with your DH and church. I have a friend that is pretty much the same way, he spits out "hypocrite-all they want is money-I'm good enough-Bible written a long time ago by men-etc" I have worked for years trying to turn his mind a bit, but I think that his heart just may be hardened. All we can do sometimes is pray. I am not going to advise you on divorce thinking here but I will say, as you mentioned, God would not want you to divorce on that situation alone. You just never know when the time will come that the seeds you are planting will grow! Prayers for your family dear  SHY ~Well hello :) CRISSY ~ I hope the birthday went well for the boy! KATHY ~Great job on the check-up! Prayers for the guardianship. I am the legal guardian of my, now in the NAVY, nephew. BARGOO ~What's new girl? Are you in training for the elder situation yet? HELLO TO ALL! ~ AUNT SUE ~ NITA ANN ~ KAREN ~ GINNY ~ ALL THOSE NEW KIDS LAST FEW WEEKS ~ ALL THE MIA's Well Angie and I will go to church tonight since we don't have much to do this evening. That wil be in an hour so I better check out for now... I leave you with my prayers and support! and a reminder that if you are not in the :val2: I :val1: HEART :val1: YOU 5K :val2:...I wanna know why?! |
Gary - he is 36. He's still sitting in county jail. no one has talked to him that i know of. i pray for him constantly. mainly for him to have hope, peace, comfort, favor and to submit to GOD!
Kathy - my prayers are with you. i understand a little of where the little guy is. just be patient and consistent in loving him. you will see more from him in terms of love and respect/admiration than you think right now! love you all!!!! bev |
BEV I would talk to him about the Salvation Army if there is one in your area. It is voluntary to check in but you will be out in a hurry if you mess up. My brother swears by it.
KATHY I raised my nephew from the time he was about 10 years old. He was a bit of trouble. I made a lot of mistakes in raising him, partly because my children were older, straight A's and respectful kids. Knucklehead was a big goof off. Bottom line....we both worked through it....ALWAYS loved each other and never gave up. It wasn't always easy but it was always rewarding! He called me tonight ,while I was at dinner, from a break he had during a NAVY class just to tell me he missed me and loves me. Don't give up! Prayers for both of you ~ Gary |
