  • Hi all - a quick fly-by. I hope you had a blessed Christmas!
We celebrated with family today since DH had to work a 12 hr shift on Christmas.

I hope you have a fun weekend!

    Prayers continuing for all!
  • Hi everyone. I just wanted to say im back for good this time. Things have been kinda rough so i of course did the opposite of what i should have done and shut myself off from you amazing people. I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas.

Just an update for those of you that remember the last time im posted about my grandmother. She was in the hospital for 4 months when her kidneys started to fail. She didnt want any chemo which is what they wanted to give her to turn her around and they wanted to put a chest tube in which is also something she didnt want. Well the day we were supposed to make the decision she started breathing on her own and her kidneys turned around. She is home now and is 1 million times better than i could ever imagine. She can walk and she was even there at Christmas to bake cookies. I feel so blessed to have her back to normal. The Dr's are considering her a miracle. One in like 1,000 people survive the first surgery after having an aneurysm this big. Thank you to all of you that prayed for me and my family. Her hospital bill was...... $750,000! But she has to pay a mere $300.

Happy Saturday! Hope the weather where you all are isnt as horrid as it is here.
  • Courtney - glad you are back! Thanks for the update on your Grandmother - what a wonderful blessing!!!!

You (and your family) have been in our prayers.

Can't wait for your next post

    Blessings!

    Laurie
  • Courtney, wonderful news of your grandmother.
  • Well, there's a Christmas Miracle if I ever heard one; we have all been praying for your grandmother, you, and your family. Everytime I saw you on the board, I would pray even more and wonder how she was doing. It sure is nice to know that our prayers were answered for her and how ...

Thank you Father, for hearing and answering our prayers; thank you for your everlasting grace towards us and this much-loved lady!
  • Courtney-That is such wonderful news! Thanks to God for such a blessing. Glad to have you back here too. Keep coming back and visiting-you're such a pleasant addition to the Encouragers.

Hope you all are having a great weekend. We're headed to MN to visit DH's family tomorrow and look at a house that DS1 and DIL are interested in. Hopefully the weather will hold out. It's supposed to be cold but no more snow, sleet, or freezing rain for a couple days. That would definitely be a blessing!

    Have a nice Sunday!
  • Way Cool Courtney!!
  • Courtney: I love hearing about miracles and your grandmother just experienced one. What a blessing!

I actually have a moment before church to post. DH's family is still all here and we're going to church together this am. Then we get to eat more turkey!! YEAH!

We've been having a great time and I feel like I've been able to relax a lot this Christmas. I'm very grateful.

I am keeping your prayer requests in my mind and will be praying for them. I am thankful for this thread and the support that is shown here. God bless you all in 2009.
  • HI GALS ~

Angie and I went to church last night. A good thing, I have been coming down with a cold...sore throat...now a cough and fever. Wouldn't have made it this morning. I hope I feel better by work tomorrow...no getting out of it unless I am on my deathbed! Our boss has a small crew because of the economy and I have to have the 4 guys I have working on 3 jobs....all needing at least 2 guys...and thew jobs are 200 miles apart! Oh well, glad to be working. It is rare that I get sick so I am really hating life right now

Threw a pot of great northern beans and ham/shank (leftover from Thanksgiving) on the stove this morning, sure smell good right now.

My son and dil, daughter and kidnapper, step-daughter and nephew were here yesterday for our immediate family Christmas. I made cheese and Angie made veggie and chicken enchiladas...all 3 were a big hit! Then we shopped through the World Vision catalogue. Great fun. Never bought farm animals before We also shopped for children in the US too.

My kids are all down at the Charger game already. Tailgating and having fun, big game today for them. My dil may get to in a play-off game after all.

There has been a little bit of nastiness...hey don't blame me on some of the threads about Christmas. I guess it is hard to separate the birth form the other good things at Christmas time. I know my family gets caught up in the commercialism of Christmas at times. With so much going on and finances people seem to stress too, forgetting why we Christians celebrate. Each year I hope I mature a little more to become Christlike. We had a party of 30 on Christmas Eve, a party for 6 yesterday, a lot of cooking involved, throw in church programs and service, late evenings and honestly....we had 0 issues as far as I know. Not one cross voice or argument.

Well I think I will go add some mashed potato flakes to my soup and rest a bit.

Have a great day Ladies...see ya soon
  • Gary - we got a World Vision Goat for Christmas (and gave MIL a sheep) (and I have been really good about not cracking any "separating the sheep from the goats" jokes in her presence)

Wilma - glad you have had some respite time during the holiday! Hopefully, you will be able to slow down a bit in the new year! We miss you when you don't post!!! Glad you are having a good holiday time!

Ronni - hope you have a safe and productive trip. :cross: that the weather holds.

A quiet day today - very few in church since we are under a blizzard warning here It is a good day to spend in the kitchen cooking and freezing ahead.

Hope you all have/had a wonderful Sunday!

    Blessings!
    Prayers continuing!

  • HI EVERYONE ~ well, we woke up to a blizzard this morning; we have a white-out right now with howling northern-easterly winds, and you can feel them too. Thank the Lord, we have lots of heat to keep us warm. There's gonna be a big mess to clean up when this is over, but just think of all the jobs this weather is creating!

COUNTING ~ sorry, but we have that blizzard already; and it may be coming your way ...

HI WILMA ~ nice to hear from you; glad you are having a great time with DH's family.

HI GARY ~ sounds like you had a great time with your family; and that soup sounds wonderful too. We had a great time with our family and friends too; no incidents here. I hope that with each passing year, that I am able to shed some love and light and peace, for our Lord too: well, I'm trying ...

RONNI ~ prayers for safe trip to visit DS1 and family already sent; hope you have a great time too!

No way anyone could go anywheres today; so we're just staying home and keepin' warm and cozy. Hope you all have a great Sunday! Take good care, your fellow encourager ROSEBUD

^^Prayers^^ ascending for you and yours ...
  • Prayers Please ...
PRAYERS ~ would appreciate some prayers for my youngest sis and her DH, as her FIL (Alan) is very, very ill right now. His kidneys have failed; the dialysis isn't working anymore, and it doesn't look good. This man has made it through cancer and so many other things over the last several years, that it is amazing. My sis and her DH are travelling late tomorrow to go see him, and have asked for prayers for a safe trip and for comfort for their FIL (Alan) and family as well. This must be so difficult for our BIL as they have made this trip a few times now.

    Thanks in advance!
  • Definitely praying, Rosebud!
  • The weather is wacky here this week. First snow, then hail, then sleet, some more snow, oh and then some rain. 5 days ago with the windchill it was -30!!! Friday night when i went to the zoo it was 62 out. That makes for a wet muddy mess. And then when i woke this morning everything was frozen again. On the bright side we went to the Lights before Christmas at the zoo. (even though we went after Chrsitmas) and it was warm. Usually by the time i leave its so cold im miserable. This year i was just wet. REally wet up to my knees from all the water. The lights were super pretty. Went to the movies last night with some friends and it was nice since i havent really been out of the house much lately.

Rosebud-Im praying for you and your family.

Ronni- Have a wonderful and safe trip. Hope the weather is good to you.

Wilma- glad you got to rest during the holidays. Its nice to be able to take it slow and not stress over a time thats supposed to be joyful.

Gary- Sounds like you have your hands full! So when are you going to come up to ohio and make me some yummy enchiladas? Ive got an extra room for you and angie.

Hello to Bargoo, Laurie and everyone else. Thanks for the prayers and concerns about me and my family. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
    Happy Monday!
  • Rosebud, prayers are on the way.
