Default Mid-week Boost #2

HI GALS ~ I am a little late with the 2nd Mid-week boost from our church. I hope you enjoy it. May our Lord richly bless you

Matthew 6:25-34
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Have you ever wondered how to interpret Scripture? Have you ever asked yourself: "How do I know what God is really trying to tell me through His Word?"

Here is a helpful hint: All of Scripture can be divided into Law or Gospel. The law tells us what we should or should not do. It acts as a mirror to show us our sin. The Gospel, on the other hand, tells us how Jesus has freed us from the law because of His Grace. The Gospel shows us Christ and the Cross.

So, with that in mind, this passage tells us this:

The Law: Don't worry! Worry is sinful! Worry is a sign that we lack faith in God to take
care of us.

The Gospel: God knows that we worry. He also knows what we need. He takes mercy
upon us and meets all of those needs, from the least important (what we
wear), to the most important (the forgiveness of our sins). God loves us
deeply and promises to meet ALL of our needs, from the least to the
greatest!

The Law: Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. God is the most
important thing in our life and should always take top priority. We must seek
to be righteous people and make God our sole focus.

The Gospel: God understands how we have fallen short. He knows that we fail every day
to seek first His Righteousness. He knows we will never achieve
righteousness on our own, so He provides righteousness for us. He sent
His Son to die for us. Through faith in Jesus Christ, He justifies us by
His Righteousness, not our own.

Remember, Christ didn't come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it! All of God's laws are just as valid today as they ever were. But Christ has fulfilled the demands of the law where we could not. Today He tells us: Don't worry about anything - Don't worry about money! Don't worry about bills! Don't worry about your relationships or your reputation or your future! When we focus our attention on Christ and the Cross, He clothes us in His Righteousness! Once clothed in His Righteousness, He will continue to meet our lesser needs -- right down to the clothes on our backs!

Have a wonderful rest of the week resting in the peace of mind and spirit that comes through His Righteousness!

Thanks for this message, I have been told that I worry to much but I feel it is not really that I am worrying, but I am more concerned about things. Is there anyone who could please explain to me; what is the difference between worrying and being concerned is?

HA! Great question NITA ANN....

We all worry about things that concern us! That is our nature as human beings. God's WORD reinforces the fact that, for Christians, HIS WORD is all we really need. We can find all the comfort we need there. Will it stop us from worry....probably not...but as we grow and mature to be more Christ-like we LEARN to do better with our worries. We learn to focus on His promises more and not on our own struggles.

Nice to meet you here ~ Gary

Thanks, Gary. That has always been one of my favorite passages. And, very appropriate in this troubled time right now.

Thank you Ronni. I will post these, as long as I receive them, if people can use them from time to time.
