Any Muslims here??
As a muslim myself, I was hoping to find other muslim sisters to help encourage me and motivate me to make this healthy change for the sake of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala..
I find myself uneasy to speak to people as i normally do on a daily basis, because Im not sure how they will react if I use arabic religious terms. (ie: SubhanAllah! Insha'Allah, As-Salaamu Alaikum, etc...) I hope to find atleast one other sister (or even brother!) that wants to help make a support group for other muslims on this site, so that we dont have to be so cautious with what we say. Insha'Allah someone will reply :) |
Im not muslim but i just wanted to say welcome to the site. My religion is very important to me so I understand your wanting to find someone who is muslim. Good luck! It looks like form one of your other posts that you are 18 so why not come on over and join us in the 20-somethings forum as well.

Hi, welcome to 3fc! :welcome:
I'm almost certain we have at least a few Muslims here. Hopefully they'll find your post :) |
Assalamu alaikum awlass...I'm a sister out of Wisconsin...
|
Thank you for your kindness CandyKisses and Suzanne (sorry if I have spelled your names wrong :o)
And Wa'Alaikum Salaam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh ktgk! I am glad to see atlease one muslim here besides myself :D How is Wisconsin? Ive never been there.. I've only really traveled the west coast states, and a few southern ones. Insha'Allah your quest to become a healthier person will go smoothly. Dont let Shaytaan bring you down. Allahu Akbar! |
Well...Wisconsin is starting to get cold, hehe, mashaAllah I like that, though.
How do you like Tunesia? I love Tunesian food, but it's not the healthiest in the world... InshaAllah you'll be able to reach your goals with ease! |
I do miss the snow.. But I like the fact that Tunisia has so many different climates, so there is always atleast one fruit and vegetable in season that I like to eat :) Right now, lemons, oranges, peas, cauliflower, lettuce, eggplant and many others are just starting to be ripe enough to taste good :)
I love it here!! Things are just so much more peacefull. And I love that no one judges me too much.. I still get the occasional comment from my sister in law and cousin.. But thankfully I know its because they love me :) Alhamdulillah. |
Ah...sounds like Syria, too...I love that they always have fresh fruits and veggies straight off local farms (or direct from the courtyard in the case of some fruits, mashaAllah).
I like Syria. I don't know how much it differs from Tunesia, but my husband is from Aleppo, which is pretty famous for it's pious population. I really love it there, but it has drawbacks, too. I get more flack for wanting to stay fit than if I were to just let myself go completely, subhanAllah. |
I would like to visit Syria... but the only thing i know about it is from watching Bab Al-Harah... lol... good show :p
|
... and I dont even speak arabic
|
My husband watched the entire Bab al-Hara during Ramadan, subhanAllah. Even my three year old liked it, hehehe. I guess it caught on pretty well all over the Arab world.
|
I've had a pretty awful couple of days as far as eating and exercise go...my husband and oldest daughter left for Syria on Friday and will be gone five weeks, subhanAllah...my dad took me out for pizza last night and I made lasagne and invited my brother and sil over tonight. InshaAllah the breastfeeding will help with that...and I'm not eating late tonight again. I stopped at my normal cut-off point (7 PM).
How are you doing? Fi aman Allah |
I just wanted to throw my welcome into the ring. I am not Muslim (I'm not actually very religious at all) but I'm an historian and I'm fascinated by other cultures and religions. I'd love for you to keep posting and to help all of us learn more about you and your culture. :)

Me too!

Thank you for your welcome PhotoChick! I hope you find what you are looking for here :)
|
ktgk, do you wear hijab? I was just curious about how hijab is viewed in Wisconsin.. I had some issues in Alaska, but nothing too major Alhamdulillah!
|
I'm Muslim :D
|
its good to see you here jahjah1223 :D I hope you get to know the other muslims here as well :)
|
Yes. I wear hijab, alhamdulillah. I have never heard one negative comment here in Wisconsin, mashaAllah. I did live in Germany for almost five years, so that's quite a change for me (I was insulted just about every time I left my apartment while living there, subhanAllah).
Fi aman Allah |
I wear it as well and i never get any bad comments :)
|
ALHAMDULILLAH!!! Its wonderful when the people arround us are so understanding.. Sorry to be rude about the Germany thing, but  I totally know the feeling... I stayed with my grandparents for a while, who live on a private RV Ranch in southern Arizona.. They didnt have too much of a problem, but all 50 other elderly people had a HUGE problem.. I didnt think old people could be so cruel... I guess I was wrong.. lol
By the way, the trip was FABULOUS! I walked myself into some first class blisters, but I got some fantastic photos.. I'll post them soon! |
Pwah. I got a scale yesterday... I'm afraid to say that I weigh so much that I'm embarassed to even write it here! Which is sickening, because I know that I've been losing weight based on how my clothes feel... InshaAllah I'll stick to my plans and get back to normal!
|
The first thing that will help you with your weightloss is to accept what you weigh now and not run from it and pretend you didnt see it. lol
|
i wish i could buy a scale.. but they are so expensive here :/ The one i have to use is a normal scale, not digital,, so i dont feel like i get an accurate reading.. but.. its saturday... i go weigh today.. insha'allah ive dropped that kilo for the week...
ive been working on controling cravings by waiting an hour, and if its still there, then eat 2 bites, or drink 2 oz, or one small (if its smaller than 3 of my pinkies put together) .. its been working out well |
oh, ive got a few new recipes i made.. not exactly super healthy... but they taste good and are easy to make.. i'll post the thread link
|
|
I lived in palestine for a few years , and yes the scales are very expensive there .
|
btw.. tomorrow (Nov 16) is my 1 yr anniversary of being a muslim :D
|
Awesome:)
|
Mabrook!
My scale in Syria wasn't that expensive, but it wasn't digital. And we just had it adjusted to by the same as the doctor's scale. Are you getting them in pounds or kilos? Seeing my weight, definately makes me more motivated. I lost the weight with my first daughter and I'll do it this time, too... I'm just looking at maybe needing another month or two this time... InshaAllah it'll work out well! Fi aman Allah |
oooh im getting a scale today :) :carrot: we found a digital one sooo cheap :) im so excited
|
Alhamdulillah, I slept almost normally last night (insomnia is a problem I've been having) and to top that off, my weight is starting to come off a little. InshaAllah today is going to be a good day!
|
Eid ul-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice)
Eid Mubarak my sisters!!!!
Insha'allah you'll have some fun tomorrow and may Allah give us the courage and discipline to watch what we eat, and not over do it, during this wonderful holiday. Ameen! And if you dont post some good Eid recipes.. Im gonna have a problem with you :tantrum: lol j/K.... but really, recipes, please!! I'll post a few after the festivities end :) And, this friday, Im taking a prego test :D I'll let you know the results... Insha'allah I'll find that little line :) |
HAPPY EID!! Sorry i have no recipes lol
|
Assalamu alaikum,
Eid mubarak! InshaAllah you're all having a wonderful holiday... My husband and older daughter will get back from Syria on Thursday, but they're having a great time with family while I clean myself to death before they get back, hehe. I guess it counts as exercise, though... I feel good about the fact that I've lost a little over five pounds in five weeks (that's how long they've been away). That's the rate I should be losing...two months or so and I'll fit back into my clothes again! As for Eid recipes, my husband usually likes yabra. I don't think that requires a recipe, besides, it's just a little different everywhere. He said that my mother in law made aish bilbol and lots of other things this year...I'd prefer shish barak, which tastes good with ground turkey instead of beef or lamb...Since I don't have anyone around to help me cook and I'm definately not cooking a ton just for myself, I just had steak over spinach salad. I'm going to have a late Eid party next week, though, inshaAllah with all my family and I might roast a turkey...my dad's trying to unload the one in his freezer on me... Fi aman Allah |
lol, i dont know what ANY of that is!!
congrats on your loss :) ive not been so sucessful :( i gained 3 kilos... and im not sure why.. i havnt changed any habits.. but then again, i dont know why i lost the first 12 in the first place... |
Assalamu alaikum,
InshaAllah you'll start losing again soon. There are so many reasons for gaining weight... Yabra are stuffed/rolled grape leaves. Aish Bilbol are a little like lachmajin (turkish/arab pizza)--but smaller and with a different kind of dough under the topping. Shish barak is pretty much homemade beef tortellini in a yogurt-garlic-coriander sauce. They're all very common, but time consuming, recipes from Aleppo... Fi aman Allah, Katherine |
Hey girls how are you doing?
