Christian Encouragers ~ OCTOBER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You've found a great place to come and vent, share or ask for prayer support. This is a great group who will be very encouraging, caring and loving....anyone is welcome to join! A Servent's Prayer Jesus, My Jesus....How marveleous your ways.... Far more splendid than my mind can envision. What an honor to be chosen by you. A lowly child I am, but empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the great hope to which you have called me. I give myself totally to you, Lord. Take my imperfect heart and make it perfect. Peel away the hardness. Close the doors I have opened to the temptations of this world. Gently remove the roots of painful memories, sins, doubts and fears. Discard anything that separates me from you. Lord, fill the emptiness with the light of your love that I might be a beacon calling the lost back to you. To love as you love..... To serve as you serve..... To forgive as you forgive..... Always mindful of my nothingness while doing great and marvelous things in your name and for your glory. This I pray, Jesus, in YOUR name. Amen |
Good Morning

HI GALS
I don't think I was able to post last week-end when I got home! I had good intentions....put it off so I could post to each of you....but...I took my BBQ's and tables to the VIKING FESTIVAL as soon as I got home, went again on Sat. morning to help my ex-wife set up, then Angie and I worked the afternoon and evening shift....went to church on Sunday then off to San Diego to see the Drowsy Chaperone play, then back to the Viking Festival to finish the day and clean-up....exhausting but fun. Well I did get back for the week-end but have been really busy! Friday I got home in time to take the dogs out for 3 miles and un-pack my truck, catch up on mail and rest! Saturday morning Angie and I did our 3.5 mile coffee walk with the dogs then I did chores while she spent the day at yoga teacher training. I vacuumed and shampooed the carpet, did laundry, paid bills, got the yard fall ready (had to pick up all the summer toys and games) and watched my USC TROJANS and DODGERS win :carrot: This morning we went to church, grocery shopping and I took some paperwork to the office while Angie went for another teacher training session. I so look forward to being able to go to church and receive what God has in store for me! Hard for me to :?: understand how people look at going as a chore to do on Sunday....this doesn't mean I don't like to sleep in....although I can't!! But, well, I just look at going to church as a gift. I will be gone all next week too as I head out tomorrow morning at 3am again. I hope to be back for the week-end. LAURIE I am sorry to hear your step-father is not doing well  May our Lord's peace be with you. ROSEBUD I am so happy you found a home that is better for your legs and close to shopping too! BARGOO As prayers continue I congratulate you on the diploma! Good luck on your next treatment...my family knows that dreaded cancer all too well :( RONNI What a great day at the game for DS2 :carrot: Hope the house sells and weather stays kind to you. LORI so great to see you  AUNT SUE I hope all is well  SHY Well they had the movie "Wedding Planner"..."Funeral Planner"?...;) Sorry for your loss though  WILMA isn't it funny...not ha-ha....how fast 2 weeks goes on vacation! Good luck with the deck. Glad your BP is normal :) MaMaDuck congrats to your son! We have a marine base near me...Pendelton...My nephew, I am his guardian, just went off to Navy Recruit training last week Hello to everyone...HAVE A GREAT WEEK! My prayers are with you all ~ Gary  |
Hey all! I've been around 3fc for a bit, but never on this thread.
I came to a realization very recently that my main focus right now really needs to be being a better person and learning to love myself again - NOT strictly losing weight. I'm back in school - currently a grad student and working 20hrs a week, also trying to stay involved and meet people as I just started school again this fall and moved across the country to do so! I guess that's a brief about me - anything you want to know, feel free to ask! I look forward to meeting everyone. |
Hello, Everyone!
:welcome2: to iriswhispers! You'll find some great support here! Glad to hear from Gary! Sounds like a couple busy weekends. Will keep praying for safety in travel and work over the week. We're going to have a busy day here too. Football tonight. DS2 had early practice today (had to leave home at 6:00am to get to the school on time). It's such a long day when it starts that early, then the game won't be over until 8pm or so! In the in-between time, of course, the schooling has to be done. Tomorrow back to Mayo for more tests and doctors for DS3. Just hoping this isn't all a waste of time and money and that they come up with a diagnosis on his pain and a way to deal with the spina bifida occulta that doesn't require surgery. Was a bad weekend for eating on plan, so I'm scared to step on the scale this a.m. Hoping the damage isn't too bad, but will just get back OP and remember that God will help me overcome any fallout from the weekend. Hope you all are having a great day, great weather, and that you can see God's hand in your lives. Prayers for you all! |
 HI EVERYONE ~ be back in tomorrow to catch up; read and post. Been very busy and some things have changed since I last posted. Sadly, that house deal fell through for us. We were talking to some people that lived there before and they warned us not to go there as the expenses are double what we were being told.
So we are on the search again, and would appreciate your prayers. Maybe we should include the place needs to be suitable and affordable for us. I know there is something good out there; we just have to find it. GOD will lead us to it; we just have to trust him. Gotta go for now; very tired right now; will be back to post more tomorrow. ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for each of you, esp those who are sick and have special needs for yourselves and your family or friends!!!! Take care :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Rosebud: What a roller coaster you are on with your housing situation! I'm praying that the perfect house will be available for you.
Ronni: We all have bad weekends. What matters is getting back on program again and I know you will do that. Your talking about football makes me miss my kids at that age. I spent a lot of hours watching them play and I miss it! Iriswhispers: You are absolutely right. It's about loving ourselves no matter what size we are. Who you are inside is what matters. Glad to see you here! Gary: You're busy as usual. Maybe you should move to Canada - at least you wouldn't have to work outdoors in the winter.:D Our garage and deck look amazing and I am looking forward to having my lattees out on the deck come spring. My eating has gone well this week. I'm still not exercising as much as I should but at least I'm eating properly again. Hope everyone has a great week! |
Hi everyone! Thanks for the welcomes!
Things have been a bit frustrating for me recently, I'm really trying to put myself in God's hands and relax - I think being a control freak is definitely an issue for me. Whenever I feel out of control I start to panic, but I have to remember and trust that ultimately God is in control. I've been going to a Grad student bible study which I really like, but unfortunately can't make it this week - I have a midterm and studying has to take precedence here! I feel like my faith is really in its infancy and it's great to be around people my age who I feel I can learn so much from. I hope you all have a great week. =) |
Hi all! I'm back. I've missed you!!!!
Update: SF passed away on the 27th, so I have been in TN dealing with all of that. Thanks all for your prayers! Knowing that you were there meant a lot to me and my family. I will be back to catch up later - off to our annual church conference. Bargoo - prayers continuing for you! Iris - WELCOME!!!! So glad you joined us! I look forward to getting to know you. And - we ALL are growing in our faith - daily. :D Gary - glad to see you back again! We missed you! Wilma - glad your eating is back on track. Hang in there with the exercise. With winter approaching it gets even harder (at least for me). Rosebud - prayers continuing for your housing situation. Your patience is admirable! Ronni - hope the weigh-in wasn't too painful! In any case - just get back on track, and that scale will cooperate soon! Blessings to all - and prayers ascending! |
Hi Everyone!
BARGOO: Will be praying for you as you continue treatment. May our Lord give you His peace and His healing. GARY: Nice seeing you too! You sound really busy! I agree with you about church. We had a visiting Pastor on Sunday and what a great message! IRIS: :welcome: This is a GREAT spot on this website. Been off and on here for a long time and they always take me back with open arms! I have 5 kids, 4 of whom are middle schoolers and adopted with issues. I'm usually too busy to take care of myself with my weight or anything else. But God ALWAYS brings me back! RONNI: I will be praying for DS3. ROSEBUD: Sorry about the house! Will be praying for you to find the house God has planned for you! WILMA: Hi! My exercise is about zilch but dh was off yesterday and our oldest son, Mike, and dh and I went to the St. Louis zoo and walked a LOT! We had FUN and exercised too! That's when it's fun! It seems my weight is holding it's own with the WW points system. I've missed some meetings due to stuff with the kids. My two boys continue to have issues and it's ongoing with their psychologists and psychiatrists. Please continue to pray for them and us! I will be praying for all of you! Lori |
Hello and Good morning to all!
Rosebud-so sorry to hear that the house didn't work out. Prayers have already been said for you to find another that fits with your lives and wallets:D Thank you all for prayers for DS3 and yesterday's trip to Mayo. Some good, some bad(?). They don't really think that the spina bifida occulta and spondylolysis are going to be issues, thank the Lord. But, they found a vertebra that's been partly crushed in a different location that may be what's causing the back and leg pain. Must consult with their orthopedic specialist next week. Still, no clue about the abdominal/side pain, but meet with a GI specialist next week to discuss all tests and findings. We also are meeting with a PT specialist for exercises to strengthen his back and abdominal muscles which could eliminate the pain from the crushed vertebra. They also found that he has one kneecap that significantly higher than the other-anyone heard of that before? It shows on the CT that it must be about 4"or more higher! That's part of the visit to the ortho doc, as well. We had a nice surprise while there. I keep in contact with my aunts and uncles, but haven't seen most of them in about 20 years, as we all live sooo very far from each other, but one of my favorite aunts and uncles ended up coming to Mayo (from Nevada) this week as well, so we got to visit and also see a cousin(who is there helping them)! It was such a nice surprise. I forget how much I miss being around my family. E-mail's just not the same as getting the hugs:cry: But, now, I must ask for prayers for them. My uncle will be having surgery next week to correct an aortic defect, but they are trying to find where he's losing blood first,as he's had to have a transfusion due to extremely low hemoglobin levels. He's almost 80 and very weak, due to these issues. I know that God can guide the docs so they find the problems and fix them quickly. Today, back to the grind-oh, I mean, back to normal lessons and stuff! But, must take DS2 to doc, as the football team's physical therapist thinks he may have fractured his wrist at the game Monday evening. It was a great game, though, and he was having such fun, tackling and blocking, but he got blind-sided and sent flying while charging the other team's passer and landed on his arm. We were thinking it was just a sprain, but the PT-ist thinks otherwise. Oh, well..... Prayers for all of you. Hope you have a really nice day! "We have not stopped praying for you since the first day we heard about you. In fact, we always pray that God will show you everything he wants you to do and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. Then you will live a life that honors the Lord, and you will always please him by doing good deeds. You will come to know God even better. His glorious power will make you patient and strong enough to endure anything, and you will be truly happy." Colossians 1:9-11 |
 THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS and encouragement about our housing situation; boy, are we being tested or what? LOL! We put our name in for a small apartment today, and we will be going to look at a small house this weekend.
Would you believe that we have had ***SNOW*** twice in the last week with -5C temps; then two glorious days of sunshine and rain today. We had a good day of shopping and got lots of walking in today as well ... COUNTING ~ so sorry about your SF's passing: had you all in constant prayers for peace and comfort; and we are glad that you are back too! RONNI ~ there's some good news there; and isn't it a relief know what is going on? Sounds like these are all things that the doctors can help him with, and will pray for wisdom for them to find out what is causing the side pains too. THANKS MOM ~ for the prayers; so appreciated. HI WILMA ~ a roller coaster is right; we had forgotten how difficult this was, but usually you are not on such a slim time line ... sure cutting it close. LOL! HELLO IRIS ~ when I was in college, I joined a Christian group too and I just loved having their support and friendship while I was there. That made the experience so much more enjoyable for me. HELLO TO ALL OUR OTHER FRIENDS ~ hope you are all healthy and things are going well for you! Take good care, your fellow encourager  ROSEBUD  ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for you and yours ... |
Lori - prayers continuing for your family! Glad WW is working for you, too!
Ronni - prayers continuing for your boys, and I added your uncle to my list as well :) Prayers for you too, as you deal with everything. You certainly have a lot going on right now! Thank heaven's that God is bigger than all of our problems. And that we are never given more than we can bear. Still, prayers for healing, and strength are ascending! Hello to everyone else! Hope you had a GREAT day. You are in my prayers! Blessings! Laurie |
Hello, there!
Counting-So sorry for the loss of your SF. Hugs and prayers for you and your family. Rosebud-SNOW, I mean real snow! Please, please, please DON'T send it down here!!!! I've still got a lot of yard work to do before we get any of that stuff! Thanks to everyone for the continued prayers. They think DS2 just has a sprained wrist. Doc said it should be ok in a week or so, but to come back if it gets worse. I guess fractures in wrists don't always show up on the 1st x-ray, so they check again in 10 days if the pain does not go away. So, he has a soft brace and can still play football. He's very happy about that! Hope you all have a great day! As always, you are all in my prayers:hug: |
Rosebud - you can keep your snow! Please don't send it back this way. I'm not even remotely ready for winter yet!
I did clean out my closet last night and put the summer things away and drag out the warm woolies. I'm glad that I squirreled away bargains I found through the year - I have some nice things for winter that I found last spring :) Prayers continuing for your housing situation. God will provide, but it is hard to let the worry and anxiety go sometimes. For me, it is a constant test, and I take a lot of baby steps along the way! Ronni - glad your son's wrist wasn't hurt any worse. Keep us posted on how everyone is doing. Prayers continuing for your family! You are doing GREAT with your plan - 10+ lbs since 9/15 is terrific progress! Congratulations! Hello to everyone else! I hope you have a blessed Friday! |
Hey everybody just wanted to say hi I'm new around here, but been lurkin for a while!
|
 HI EVERYONE ~ Well, we had a nice mix of sun and rain today; and GOD decided to send us a nice, big rainbow just to lift our spirits, I'm sure: love them, they remind me that "HE PROMISES TO KEEP HIS PROMISES TO US ALL" ... who knows, maybe that was a sign for us to remain ever hopeful!!!
:wel3fc: RAY OF SUNSHINE ~ glad you decided to join in; tell us a bit about yourself so that we can get to know you better. This is a nice, supportive group here; and very friendly. RONNI ~ yes, we had the *** real stuff *** , big, fat snowflakes and all ... LOL! My sister says, "so much for EL NENO (sp?)"; I have to agree, as we've had two cold falls in a row. I also sent up prayers for your uncle and your son's wrist too. When it rains, it pours ... eh; or should I say, when it snows, there's an avalanche? LOL! THANKS COUNTING ~Yah, I like to do the same; pick up what I can, when I can; for summer and winter. I don't really like the fact that we have *** SNOW *** this early; may mean an early winter, but that's not written in stone, just ice and that can melt ~ lol! :D BARGOO ~ just want you to know that I have you on my DAILY Prayer List; lifting you up constantly. Hope you are feeling well today! HOPE ALL OUR FRIENDS ARE DOING WELL TODAY! Take good care, your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD  ^^PRAYERS^^ ascending for you and yours ... |
:welcome: Ray of Sunshine! Come post often and let us know how you are doing! We love new folk around here :D
Blessings to all & prayers ascending! |
:welcome2: Ray of Sunshine! This is a great place for encouragement and support. Come in often and share with us!
Again, thanks to everyone for the prayers. No word on Uncle yet-surgery is supposed to be next week. DS's are ok and handling their physical problems ok right now, only showing slightly shorter fuses:bomb: ! I guess the stress of this year's issues is starting to get to everyone just a little. Would be nice to get away somewhere and not think about anything, but just don't have the money or time to do that. Oh, well......But, I know God will give us the strength to get through. Today, school & football. I just don't know how people keep up-my house is a mess! Every time I think I'm making a dent in it, one of the DS's has schooling questions (MOM! I can't find this answer! I can't figure out this problem! etc, etc) and I forget where I was working before I was interrupted! :dizzy: Could be age-related, I guess-lol! Well, hope you all have a great day! Prayers for all of you, including the MIA's. for all! |
HI GALS ~
I got home late last night for the week-end. My mutts were so glad to see me :) Angie didn't crate them for bed so they met me when I opened up the garage....a nice surprise for me....doggie kisses :) I am getting close to winding up the current project I am on, probably be finished in a week and a half-2. Then I will be home for work for, I hope, until next year. I will be driving a lot when my next big project starts, about 90 miles one way, but at least I will be sleeping in my own bed :carrot: I took the dogs out for 3 miles this morning and Angie and I will take them for 3.5 miles then go for coffee tomorrow. We have a birthday party for my little nephew tomorrow also, #2, it's at the park and a real nice weather day is expected. I made a spinach lasagna and cheese enchiladas today for this week-end, we will go out one night for Mexican food probably, maybe tonight if my DODGERS can get some runs and win this game I am watching...pretty :( bummed right now! Angie is sitting behind me just cringing everytime they do something to make me  mad...I can get pretty vocal ;) Nephew still in the NAVY :) it will be 4 weeks in basic training come Monday...I thought they may have sent him home by now ;) SCOOTER ~ I am sorry to hear about your stepfather  Super job on those winter bargains. ROSEBUD ~ My goodness....what a trying situation on getting that new place. SNOW?! We have hot santa ana winds coming tomorrow....fire danger time of year here. RONNI ~I don't miss those "homework" nights! Prayers for your uncle. Have fun at the game. LORI ~ Prayers for those boys and I hope all the counseling works it's way into help for all concerned. Here is hoping the WW continues to be a success  WILMA ~ Not thinkin' I could handle a Canadian winter :) when it gets under 60 degrees here I freeze! RAY OF SUNSHINE ~ Welcome! :) IRISWISPERS ~Welcome :) Well if I don't get back here before the end of the week-end...HAVE A GREAT ONE! PRAYERS  |
LOL - Ronni - priorities, priorities - and for me - the house cleaning was never near the top of the list. And - you know what - it doesn't make a diddly-squat of a difference in the scheme of things. I'm so glad I spent time with the kids and their activities instead of cleaning. REALLY!!!
Gary - glad you took the time to post. We sure miss you when you are traveling for work!!! Stay strong with your eating, and prayers continuing for you and your family. I'm sure it is hard on both you and Angie when you are gone. I know it was hard for us when I was off to TN. Blessing to all - you are all in my prayers!!! I hope everyone has a blessed weekend!!! Laurie |
Good Morning!
It's a beautiful morning here. DH is outside working in the yard and I'm here with my cup of coffee. I have some prep work to do for our Thanksgiving gathering tomorrow. I'm making a broccoli salad and pumpkin pies. YUM! We;re going to my mom's so I don't have to do the "big" stuff.
I've been doing well with my eating but so far not lbs. lost. Trying to keep busy so I don't snack. I find I want to eat especially when I'm bored. Iris: I think going to a Bible study is a great thing. It keeps you grounded when you are with others who believe the same things you do. Giving God control is hard to do. I keep giving things to Him and then taking them back. My prayers are with you. Counting: You're right about the priorities. Now that my guys are grown I find out what they remembered about their childhood and not once has a clean house come up. The camping, the fact I was at all their sports events, etc. did. Being there is what is important! Lori: You're right. Exercise should be fun and what you did going to the zoo was fun and you probably didn't even realize you were getting exercise. I know I need to just get off my butt and get moving. :D Ronni: Continued prayers for you and your boys!! Rosebud: Prayers still going out for housing for you. We keep getting threats of snow but so far none. They got it in Saskatchewan this week but not here yet. I hope it stays away for a little while yet. We have a bit of work to do in the yard before it comes. Happy Thanksgiving to you, my fellow Canadian. Ray of sunshine: Keep posting! We're here for you! Gary: Nice to see that you're home for a while. I know what it's like to have my DH gone for periods of time. I'm okay during the week because there's plenty to do. I find Sundays the hardest because that was always our day. Thankfully, he's not gone that many weekends. Think of us up north when it's -30F and you have those great warm winds blowing. Well, better get going to those pies. Have a great weekend! |
Wilma - SNOW!?!?
Please, noooooo! I'm not ready for snow yet! Keep up your plan, and those lbs. WILL disappear. It is HARD to be patient about it though! At least it was for me. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I gotta get some more cleaning and bill paying done. Blessings to all! and - Prayers ascending for each of you and your families :D |
seriously, those of you with snow can keep it. I moved to just north of the US/Mexico border and one of the major perks of that for me is the warmth!! I was always cold in Pennsylvania!
Today's been rough; sometimes I have trouble with not wanting to go out into public. I hope I'll be feeling better with that tomorrow. I'm still trying to find a church in my new home and going to a new church for the first time is always a little nerve-wracking for me. |
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I just went to women of faith for the weekend so I was unable to post. I am glad to have found this site! I really need some structure and accountability for eating. Somedays I hardly eat nothin other days I eat candy and chips and every now and again I actually eat well all day!(oh I love those days i feel so good) I have noticed I just feel bad now days when I just eat crap.....so I am ready to learn how to eat. I look forward to all the support! God Bless... oh ps Iris I hope you find a great church that you feel home in!
|
WILMA ~ HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you too! It was really odd to have snow so early; very unusual, even for here. Like you, we are very far north and we get those -30C temps in the dead of winter too.
HAHA GARY ~ that's very funny! Threats of heat fires and we have very early snow; but this was a fluke I'm sure and it melted as soon as it touched down. Yes, like Wilma said, this housing thing has been more like a roller coaster ride, but we have to trust GOD to show the way ... thanks for dropping by, esp when you have so little time home with Angela and your family these days. Will this project be lasting into the winter months too? HI TO RONNI,COUNTING, IRISWHISPERS, and RAY OF SUNSHINE ~ hope you all have a great weekend and a blessed Sunday ... HI TO EVERYONE ELSE and all our MIA'S ... hope you are all well out there!!! Just stayed home today and did laundry and stuff around the house; nothing much else going on just yet. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS for new housing; very appreciated! Take good care; your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD  ^^PRAYERS^^ continue for you and yours ... |
HI GALS ~
Waiting for my papers to come, they are usually here by 5am Sunday morning but not today :( Stayed up late last night to watch football, NASCAR and the Sox-Rays game. Angie was busy sewing some project for my ex-wife's booth at the little fall bazaar they do each year. Angie and I did our 3 miles/coffee walk yesterday. One of my nieces wants to join us next time...no problem but I don't think she has ever been up or ANYWHERE at 6:30 on a Saturday morning before noon! :) Spent most of the day relaxing and at my little nephew's 2nd birthday party. We had the enchiladas I made on Friday for dinner and even though I didn't use low fat cheese I am down a pound this morning from yesterday to 172! Well within my :) happy face :) range....especially for out of town eating. We will be going to church in a few hours then Angie will sell tickets to the bazaar after service while I run to the shop to drop off time cards. She will play bells in second service then off to the produce market for veggies and fruit. I hope to fix a toilet today then pack for the week....3am departure and 150 miles one way just can't come soon enough...ha-ha .....nah....glad to be working! Then I hope to watch my DODGERS win a game...just like my TROJANS did yesterday :carrot: WILMA ~Enjoy your Thanksgiving! Bet those pies are yummy! SCOOTER ~I lucked out, only had 1 bill to pay yesterday :) I still could do some more cleaning though! My garage area is a mess from all the travel lately. ROSEBUD ~ I will finish the project I am on in a couple of weeks, the next one is a few more weeks off probably. I could use a little break and I do have time on the books to cover that. It looks good for the company I work for for the "near" future....but the way things are going....well, let's just say there isn't much to bid out there right now. RAY OF SUNSHINE ~What a great way to spend SUNDAY...eating and planning for the week in ways to do good things for ourselves :) IRIS ~ Prayers for comfort as you look for a new church in your new area. I hope you are all having a great SUNDAY! HELLO TO EVERYONE! |
Just in for a quick fly-by, but I just had to post this. My little sister (ok, she's only 2 years younger, but a bit taller and much thinner!) -she just finished the Chicago marathon in 5 hours 15 minutes! So, I know nothing about how many people ran it to know how her ranking compares, but I'm still very proud. I will also tell you that she has active MS that weakens her legs and causes her numbness and partial blindness at times. Praise God that she was able to finish! She does it to raise money for her church's international mission organization, but she says that the running helps her feel better, too. Now, hopefully they'll be able to get home ok with all that city traffic-might be quicker to run!
hope you are all having a great Sunday!:) |
That is awesome RONNI! Angie and I walked a marathon in 2001, took us 5hrs. 43min. but we trained hard with a group for 6 months prior and we were healthy.
I am having a great Sunday, thanks! Church was awesome, weather is perfect lunch was great and grocery shopping was....well it can't be all good now can it?....wink |
Iris, I hope you find a church soon! I will keep you in my prayers. Finding the right church home is so important. I encourage you to go, even if it is uncomfortable. A church should make you feel welcomed and loved!!!
Sunshine - I'm with you on the eating thing. I have found that eating fruits, veggies, nuts, whole grains, and enough protein are really important for me. I purged the house of the "junk". And now, I don't crave it - even if I am out and about. Clean eating leads to more clean eating. Try to stick with it for a few days in a row, and your desire to eat less healthy foods will diminish :) Rosebud - prayers continuing for your housing situation. Gary - :D - 172 is AWESOME - especially with so much travel for work. Sounds like you have figured out what will work for you when working away from home. We sure miss you when you are gone - glad to have you back with us this weekend!!! Ronni - congrats to your sister on her run. That is awesome! I couldn't WALK a marathon, let alone run one!!! I'm off to church again in a bit. We have our annual hymn sing tonight. Two local doctors play the piano and organ, start with a concert and then the congregation picks their favorite hymns to sing. I run the PowerPoint, and DH runs the sound, so we need to get there early to set up. It is always a wonderful night! We attend the "early" church service which only has about 80 folk most weeks. Thus, singing just isn't the same as when you have every pew filled! I'm looking forward to a very meaningful night of praise and worship!!! Blessings to all! Prayers continuing for each of you and your families! Laurie |
Health Update: Many of you know that I received that dreaded cancer diagnosis early in September this year. I am feeling quite well, all things considered. My breast cancer has metastasized mostly to the bone and a few other places. I am now on hormonal therapy (anti-estrogen) . I feel very calm and at peace which can only be from God.
"And the peace of God , which passeth all understanding , shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" . Phillipians 4:7 |
I am glad you are feeling comforted in this trying time for you BARGOO...continued hugs and prayers!
|
Bargoo - what an uplifting post! You are an inspiration to everyone around you! You continue to be in my prayers. Thanks for taking the time to update us and continue posting here at 3FC. Each time I read one of your responses to someone struggling, I think about how selfless you are - helping others :)
|
Bargoo that reminds me of another scripture - You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you - Isaiah 26:3 God bless you as you walk through this! Hope everyone has an awesome week filled with Gods blessings and strength!

 HELLO EVERYONE ~ we had a great THANKSGIVING WEEKEND; went out to a friend's place for turkey dinner and games yesterday, and I cooked a turkey with homemade pumpkin pie for DH, and pumpkin custard for me today (boy, that's an all day project). Everything turned out great and we have lots left over for tomorrow; just heat and serve, so I can rest a bit.
We're still looking for a place; sending out feelers and going to look at places. Dh says we're spending a fortune just driving all over the place looking with little results; but I said we can just look at it as an outing. Hope to look at a couple more places this week too. BARGOO ~ so glad that you are feeling well and peaceful during this ordeal. The Lord has a way of helping us through tough times. John 14:18 ~ Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." What a lovely promise; and this is too ~ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world gives ... (so) let not your heart be troubled; neither let it be afraid." GARY ~ glad you have some work for awhile; the husband of where we went for dinner last night has been layed off his job again (now only working one day a week); that means two big employers will be closed again this winter. So, we are praying that they will find some alternative work in the meantime. THANKS COUNTING ~ trying to focus on GOD and each day, so as to not worry too much. Encouraging DH to keep as busy as possible too; so he won't fret. HI TO IRIS WHISPERS, RAY OF SUNSHINE, RONNI ... have a great evening. Hope all our friends and MIA's are having a great weekend! Take good care of yourselves, your fellow encourager :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: ^^PRAYERS^^ ascending for you and yours ... |
A quick fly-by to say hello. Church meetings tonight and tomorrow night have me hopping! Being the lay leader means sitting on 6 committees :yikes:
Sunshine - thanks for the scripture! It is one of my favorites!!! Rosebud :D - you always see the glass as half-full. And - I relate to keeping DH busy so he doesn't fret. Sometimes that can be harder than anything  I hope everyone had a good start to the week! Blessing to all and prayers continuing for you and your families! |
Hello, I joined this group this morning and just now had the chance to really look around. This appears to be the group I need to be in. I am a late forties (when did that happen) young at heart born again- choir member, bible study leader and all around can't say no person. I live with my husband of 25 years this year!!!! a daughter who graduated college and is now a new teacher, my son just started his first year at college. What a year for changes. One look in the "primping" mirror at church on Sunday sent me to looking for changes.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and adding my Oklahoma common sense and tactless attitude. Karin |
Karin, welcome and good luck!

Karin - :welcome: Glad to have you posting here. It is a GREAT place with many, many wonderful folk!
I'm an empty nester with the youngest back home :yikes: now and trying to make the best of it. Seriously, this forum is GREAT, and everyone here is so encouraging. I couldn't have made my goal without each of thes wonderful Christian chicks (um, and our resident rooster as well) |
