Yep did 45 mins on the dreadmill tonight. Jogged 5/1s cause my goal is to run a 10 min average mile in the half... Coach tells me I need to average a 9:30 to accomodate for walk breaks so I'm working on training at that pace... not fast by any stretch but fast for me

9.5's are fast for me.

It will be good motivation, either I get up at 5 or I have to dreadmill....That will get my butt up.

Ennay - 12 min miles would be fast for me if I had just had a baby

We too havee TVs at our gym and if you bring a portable radio you can tune into whatever frequency is on the TV... although I'm entertained enough just by listening to the radio (if nothing good is on). It's also fun to switch it up increase pace for a couple then increase incline for a couple... maybe fun isn't the right word but engaging

Yeah, I used to run at the gym occasionally and do my speedwork then, either intervals or usually a progression (take workout time after warmup, divide it in to 3-5 minute segments, start a little bit below your steady state pace, bump up the speed 0.1 each segment. Usually I put my steady state pace in the middle segment.

ooops someone is awake.

I was going to do 5 miles today with speedwork, but I think I am sick. damn.

5.5 miles with running club tonight. I really didn't want to go out, but I'm glad I did

My next planned run is speedwork on the treadmill though, not looking forward to that one

Always works that way (most of the time atleast)... The days we really don't want to get out there are the days we really need to....

omg did my first postbaby intervals at the track....slower than slow. The first 3 400's were slower than when I was 30 weeks preggo.

Four miles tonight. Not so bad, pace was pretty good, and I don't feel too hammered, except my side is bothering me from the fossilized side stitch from last weekend.

I'm usually a morning runner, but DD had a little puking incident this morning, so I had to work with what the day brought. Good run. It was cold here though! Below 40. I have to go get a shower and get my body temp back in the 90s were it belongs.

30 minutes intervals this morning. I'm definitely getting some of my pre-marathon speed back, and it was the best speed session I've done for a while. I'm determined to get faster again because the "fast girl" at running club set a new 10k PB on Sunday - which is still slower than my PB from April (even though it's faster than my time in the race on Sunday), so I know that I can keep up with her, it's just a case of doing the training to get back there.

Anne - It's weird how those side stitches can linger

Helen - that is awesome! You are truly amazing to me and I think it's unbelievable how far you've come.

Still shaking off this cold. Do you ladies have any advice about running with a cough cause I'm fine WHILE I'm running but have a 15 min coughing fit AFTER. Haven't run since Tuesday.... Thoughts?

(Guess we need to start a new thread since it's December?)

Helen, you're clearly enjoying your running club. I'm considering one. My easy runs are as much as 10 minutes, and I can pull out an occasional 8 minute mile. I'm also not looking for a young social life - I'm a happily middle aged housewife. Would I be hopelessly out of place in a running club?

MissDee, not most running clubs, they vary a lot in "eliteism", but usually are very frindly and actually tend more to the 30& up crowd around here

Most running clubs I've seen have a variety of ages from 20ish to 60ish and the camaraderie is always excellent... I run with a group of 15 women and we vary between those ages too and have a excellent time...
