ThinTown, have you tried Kinetic? You might like that more than Yourself Fitness. Kinetic is totally interactive.

Do you use the center? I had a hard time getting above standard because I was playing from the center. Once I learned not to do that I got WAY better.

Here's a visual example:

Yes, I do stay out of the center. I learned that early on when my BF was better than me, then I started getting a lot better than him when I quit using the center. I don't know what it is, but I just am not good at heavy mode. Believe me I have tried and tried!

Thanks for the link though, I'm going to start reading those forums and will keep trying to get better.

Do you know though, is there any way to get more songs? I really do get tired of the same songs over and over.

I think I am going to by the eye camera thing and the game that goes with it. There another game that looks interesting too, it has many different modes such as ping pong... Have you tried that Mini-me?

I haven't played my DDR in a couple months, so I'm going to break it out and start playing again!

I don't know..I think effectiveness comes from how often you do it, and if you keep at it. Cause when I was huge on ddr, I lost a few pounds.

I only play DDR in arcades once or twice a week, but the 30 minutes on it (approx. 20 songs, most of them 7-9 footers in "Expert" mode) are some of the most intense cardio I've done. And every time I go I down 32-48 ounces of water during the session.

That being said, agreed with what other said -- depends on how long you're playing it and @ what intensity.

I'm glad I live in Southern Calif., where there are so many DDR machines nearby (as well as the much more intense 5-button Korean variant Pump! It Up, using diagonal arrows & a center button) and most of them are the latest mixes /w over 300 songs to choose from.

(Yes I know I could probably save mega moolah by just getting a home console version, but it just doesn't have the same feel as the arcade pad... and the $3 I spent each time I go is well worth it, comparably priced to a value meal @ some fast food joint & much healthier for me!)

Which game do you have? In Extreme 2 and SuperNova (for Playstation), there are a lot of 'locked' songs. I think you unlock them by clearing levels in regular game mode (not workout mode)

I don't have the ping pong one, but I have Kinetic. It is AWESOME. Not the rhytmic 'bouncy' fun like DDR, but fun in a different way. Worth having, imo.

Did you see this about DDR and Calorie Burn?
