My regular exercise routine consisted of 10 min running at 6.0 mph, 10 min elliptical, and then 10 min on this other machine that is very similar to the elliptical, but does not have the moving arms. Now I have changed it to 10 min running, a very low pace cardio machine (bike, stairclimber, stepper) and then 10 min on one of the two ellpitical like machines. Since incorporating a low cardio machine in my workout, I have noticed that I am less hungry throughout the day and feel overall better. Do you think its better to exerice less and eat less or exercise more and eat more?
Do you think its better to exerice less and eat less or exercise more and eat more? No, I don't think that's how it works, to lose weight you need to exercise more and eat less, you need to burn more calories than you consume to lose. I would also recommend to add some weight training to your cardio workouts, either on the alternate days or before your cardio... Hope this helps... Keep up the workouts!
Although, for example, if you were "dieting" on 1600kcals and doing half an hour of high intensity exercise, you would lose more weight than you would eating 1600kcals and strolling for half an hour.
Also - if you're more hungry on the days you work out hard - isn't your body telling you that you worked out hard? For weight loss it's good to be a little bit hungry.
Exercise a lot more, eat a little more works too Or even exercise more, eat the same.
I'd definitely rather eat calories and burn them off through exercise than never eat them at all, but it's still important not to overestimate the effect of your exercise and eat more than you're burning off! Still calories in, calories out at the end of the day.
