Hello Everyone,
Let me begin that I really have learned a lot from this forum as well as the Ladies Who Lift forum. Up to this point, there really wasn't a need for me to leave my "lurker" status.

But today is a new day...
In March I injured myself while running. It was the classic case of too much too soon and yes, I know, I should have known better. I maintained my activity levels by cycling and doing the elliptical. I felt like I was getting stronger and tried to run again. Big mistake. I had an MRI completed last friday and was told that I have a stress fracture in the pubis(hip, groin) area. GRRR.
The physician I am working with is a sports doctor with the university. I am in good care. That being said I am going stir crazy not being able to get any cardio in my day. I asked if I could do the elliptical and he said NO. I asked about cycling, and he winced. Then he said, "Let me make this real clear, if you come back in three weeks and this isn't getting better, your going home with crutches.." HMM. This is serious.
So, I've been real good this week. I have only been lifting upper body three times this week and went home from the gym without any cardio. (Hardly broke a sweat..)
While in the pool with my sons this afternoon it occurred to me, maybe I could run in water. Is this unrealistic considering the injury I have. Does anyone run in water and if so, could you offer advice? Also, all you runners out there, how long really do I need to wait with this stress fracture. Three weeks I know is not going to heal it. Really the injury was in March... I'm just really freaked out about the idea of not getting a really good cardio workout in for a very long time. Since September I have lost close to 48 pounds. I refuse to regain this weight, but without the cardio element in my workout, I'm really worried.
Thanks.
