Hi everyone! I am back from my vacation. We had a good hot week in Fenwick Island, Delaware (right next to Ocean City, MD). I walked 2 mornings and one day at noon but it was too hot otherwise to do much formal walking. I swam in the pool at the townhouse every day and walked on the beach one day. My good news is that I didn't gain so I think my careful eating during the daytime and the exercise paid off.

I read through the previous threads but just can't catch up on every post after being gone so long. I do want to say welcome to Robyn and also congratulations to Saggy on the 6 pound loss.

It looks like we are posting multiple days under one thread lately. I thought maybe we should go back to weekly threads and just start a new one if we go over 2 pages. Does that sound okay to everyone? I know some people already posted today under 8/12. I wasn't sure if I could move those posts over to this thread or not.

I haven't seen a post from Copperblu in a while. Has anyone heard from her?

Hope everyone has a good week.

Hi Stamper, glad you got some walking in while you were on vacation and I'm so happy you didn't gain. Good for you.
I, too, have noticed that Copperblu hasn't posted in forever . I hope nothing bad happened with her test results. I miss hearing from her.

Well, after my big 6 pound loss I had a very very bad eating day yesterday. I'm not sure why, but I ate a ton of food. I also ate a bunch of cookie dough. I did exercise last night though. Today I will try and drink more water and get in some extra exercise.

Have a great day.

Stamper-great job on exercising while on vacation. I think a weekly thread might be better b/c there aren't as many posts.

Saggy-don't be too hard on yourself--just jump right back up & dust yourself off & start today as a new day.

I did my step aerobics & weights yesterday. Today is interval step which is 10 mins cardio & 5 minutes weights alternating. I also get my folder today & start my official inch loss contest at the gym

I hope everyone is doing well.

I think CopperBlu said she was going on vacation?

Hi guys, sorry to leave you hanging! Two weeks ago, I got the results of my colposcopy back, and in general had a very bad week -- I took a week off from everything. I had cryosurgery last Monday, and have been recovering from that and getting over my general malaise -- though I did go to the gym 3 times last week. This week I haven't gone at all yet, and I don't know if I'm going to or not. I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately and it's affecting my ability to get up in the morning for workouts. It's been a rough few weeks, and I just haven't felt like posting -- I hope I didn't worry anyone!
At any rate, my weight is stable, and though I've been a little haphazard about my workouts in the last 2 weeks, I've still upped my weights for some exercises and increased the length + intensity of my cardio workouts. I'm just focusing on exercising these days, as the food journal (as I predicted) started really annoying me. I hate obsessing over every calorie -- it really stresses me out and makes me far more consumed with this than I want to be. So I have a general idea of what I'm taking in, and basically eating as healthily as I can -- getting enough fiber, fruits + veggies, and water, and not eating "empty calorie" foods or high fat treats. I like it much better this way.
I'm definitely still unsatisfied with my appearance, but I've accepted that it's going to take a very very long time to see the results I ultimately want, and that's okay. I'm just going to keep working out, because it makes me feel healthy and strong, and results will come when they come. I can't make this a quest to drop the weight, or I'm doomed to obsess and fret about every little thing and feel like a failure when I don't. Which is ridiculous, because a few pounds does not a failure make, and I don't want to be tying my self-worth into how much I weigh. I like the fact that I'm working out regularly now (with the exception of these last 2 weeks), and that I think of it as part of my lifestyle. I know that I'm only going to keep pushing myself farther and harder, and that's good. I'm even thinking about taking up running. Me! I don't want to make that tremendous lifestyle change into a failure simply because the scale didn't go down this week, and I'm not willing to obsess over what I'm eating to the degree that I don't enjoy it anymore because I'm too busy thinking about calories -- because that's just unhealthy.
Anyway, that's where I am right now. I'm tired, but basically pretty good, and I feel like I'm in a good spot right now physically. I'm excited to see what I'm going to do next. However, I've been feeling very drawn into myself lately, very tucked up. I mostly just want to be by myself a lot, and am not feeling very chatty. I appreciate all the support that you guys have given me, and it's been a tremendous help -- but I don't think I'm going to be posting on the boards for a while. I've got to go off and do my own thing and deal with this phase of my life right now. Thanks guys, for all the help + support -- I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Guys!

Sorry I forgot to post yesterday, but I did work out at the gym yesterday and today. Yesterday I did the treadmill, weights and walked. Today I did 53 minutes on the treadmill, Body Flex and will take a walk with my hubby after dinner.

Stamper, so good to see you back! I'm glad your vacation went well.

Copperblu, I'm sorry about your surgery. I'm glad you're going to take some time out for yourself, but we will miss you!

Saggy, congrats on the 6 lb. loss! (By the way, we all have our moments when food just pops into our mouths for no reason. Forget it and move on.)

Sherryi, Good luck in the contest. We're rooting for you all the way!

All I know is when I exercise I feel great, and when I don't... I don't. Here's to exercise and feeling great!
(Hugs),
Dena

Saggy: Don't feel too bad about the cookie dough day. I have days like that where I seem to just start eating all kinds of things and I've ate way too much before I even realize it. A lot of times that happens to me if I'm tired.

Copperblu: It was good to hear from you. I am sorry to hear about the surgery. It sounds like your physical recovery must be going pretty well since you've been able to exercise. Good luck with your recovery and your continuing exercise. Thank you for all the support you've given to all of US.

Sherryi : I know you probably explained the contest in another post but I can't recall - is it to see how many inches you can lose in a specific time period? How long do you have? Good luck. The interval step class you mentioned sounds like a really good workout.

Dena: Sounds like you've had 2 great workout days.

My update: I didn't exercise yesterday. It was the first time I didn't in several weeks. I was just so tired. I went to bed early and was still tired when I woke up today. Tonight I swam 45 minutes. My plan for the rest of the week is to swim at least 20 minutes everyday and to do weights (alternating arms and legs) every day. Saturday I will go to Yoga class and probably skip the weights.

Well, I biked yesterday and today. I'm getting in a ton of walking also. We went to Minneapolis today and just walked all over the place. I'm feeling a little bit down about how hungry I feel, but I don't know what else to do about it! I don't want to just feed myself cause my belly and my head want it. I need to go to bed

CopperBlu-Glad to hear your surgery went well. I started keeping a food/exercise journal but don't count calories. It has been helping me to write down what I'm eating. I can't see myself doing it forever just until I see what I'm eating overall

Dena-Great job on the exercise

Stamper-maybe your body is telling you to take a few days off. I was exercising 6-7 days a week and got burned out. Listen to your body

Pamela-maybe you need to eat more food b/c you are burning more calories. If you are hungry, then eat. I think most people have weight problems b/c of what they eat & eating when they aren't hungry.

About my contest all: It started yeseterday and lasts until November 6th. We get measured every 2 weeks and have meetings every Saturday. The plan is very realistic. You exercise 5 days a week. Day 1, 3 & 5 you use weights & do a 10 min cardio warm-up & another 10 after the weights. They want to do 5 different machines or free weights for 3 sets of 12-15 reps. On Day 2 & 4 they want you to do 45 mins of cardio & 75 crunches.

The eating portion is okay also. They have 2 different plans to follow. It is basically eating one protein, one carb & veggies at every meal. It says add a serving of veggies to at least 2 of your daily meals. There are no portion sizes.

Today is my day off from exericising. Yesterday I did my interval step class. Tomorrow I will do my cardio & new weight plan.

Have a great Wednesday all!

Posting daily has also really helped me with my exercise & eating. THANKS!!!!!!!! Sherry

Default Hi Fitness Fanatics!

I'm just dropping by for a little MUCH NEEDED inspiration, and from reading the posts, I've gotten some - thanks

Sherry - the contest plans sounds excellent. Keep us posted on your progress. ENJOY your well deserved day off .

Pamela - good job on the biking and walking!!

Stamper - one day off in several weeks is quite an accomplishment! I'm sure your body needed a little rest. Take care and don't overdo .

Dena - you said the magic words, "when I exercise I feel great - when I don't....I don't." I totally agree and that's why I can't understand why I keep missing workouts . But, that's going to change thanks to the inspiration I get from you and all the exercisers on this thread!!! By the way, CONGRATULATIONS on reaching your goal (I noticed that on another thread) and I believe you said you made lifetime??? Awesome!

Well guys, this is the second day in a row that I didn't get up to exercise. I can still make it a 4 day week and I will. Just for fun I am going to start tomorrow with day 1 of an exercise streak and see how many days in a row I can go. (Borrowing the streak idea from a neighboring thread ). Then each time I have to start over I'll try to add an additional day to my record. Hopefully that will provide a little motivation.....

Thanks again for your inspiration EVERYONE

Well, remember me? It seems that Copperblu and I both had a rough couple of weeks, and I haven't been around at all either. Please know that I'm thinking about you, Copper, and if you ever just want to talk, please email me. I'll miss you... (My email is [email protected])

I haven't been doing too bad either, so I don't think that I've done much damage. I guess partly I'm so focused on TTC that weight loss is no longer important to me, but my health is. I've been working out, although not as much as before, and I'm eating right. So, I'm just plugging along. I don't know how much I'll be around either, but I'll try to keep up a little. It's so hard in the summer to begin with, but being distracted doesn't help!

Good luck to you all and I'm sure I'll see you soon! Thanks!

Thumbs down

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this website. I must say that I find it very informative & encouraging. Like all of you I have come to realize that a key component in my weight loss is exercise. And, I have come to really like exercising. It has become part of my life & part of me. I have for the past year faithfully exercised 5 days a week. At first it was very difficult getting out of bed in the morning to exercise, but I have discovered that it is now a habit. Even if I overeat or eat the wrong foods-- I still workout. It is just amazing to me how this has become just part of my routine. I started out slow with walking & weight training. Now I can do kickboxing & actually jog!! I have lost a total of 52 lbs since last year. Tell me your thoughts. And keep up the good work. It really does pay off!

I forgot to post last night! Thanks everyone for all the encouragement! It's really wonderful. Well, my dad bought Emmett his birthday present early: a Burley bike trailer! We all went for an hour ride yesterday. Except that it FINALLY rained here, while we were out! LOL. Emmett didn't get wet at all. Then I chased him around at church for awhile last night.
MarvintheMartian: Good luck ttc! I know how incredibly frustrating it can be, but hold on and tons of babydust and prayer to you.
In Christ,
Pamela

Good Morning, Everyone!

Yesterday was kind of a quiet day for exercise... rather than sweating it out at the gym, I opted for walking. I walked with my hubby at lunchtime, walked at the mall for an hour and walked after dinner for 1/2 an hour.

The cool part about walking in the evening was that we saw two of our little Owl friends that we've known since they were babies. (We hadn't seen them for a few weeks and wondered how they were. ) It all started last Feb. when we heard their mom and dad courting each other. The babies were born in Spring, and we sometimes got to see the mother Owl bringing food to the babies. All of them have always watched us walk in the evenings, and are pretty comfortable around us as they hang out in the trees, rooftops or antennas. And they are very beautiful to watch in the moonlight. Last night was just so cool seeing the two youngsters again. I guess they've been busy growing up.

Sherryi, As far as morning exercise goes, I either walk, ride my bike or do a video. I go to the gym later on in the day when it's less crowded. I work at home now, but I did the same routine when I worked at my office job.

Pamela, bicycling for an hour! Great exercise and fun, too!

PorkEPine, Welcome!

Marvin, we will surely miss you. Take care of yourself. I know how important it is to take some time just for you.

Jusdoit, thanks so much for noticing that I made "Lifetime." Yesterday at WW, they actually celebrated my little event. I had to stand up in front of everyone and say a few words. I had no idea I was going to become so emotional about the whole thing. I was shaking and everything. (That probably burned a few cals.) It was like I couldn't believe this was happening to me... after all my ups and downs, I finally made it.

Well, it's time for me to do Body Flex. I'll go to the gym this afternoon.

Have a great day, everyone!
(Hugs),
Dena
