Default Slimmer calfs?

I'm 5'4" and have 15" calfs. The widest point of my calf is nearly 2" wider than my knee. I can't stand them. They are quite muscly but there is some cellulite that could be lost but everybody seems to advise different things.
I know that I need cardio to lose fat and some people have recommended running but I am concerned that this will make them more muscly.
Other people have recommended yoga and pilates but I can't find anything to back this up.

What cardio will burn fat without creating more leg muscle?

my calfs were always big as well. however, since i started running, my calves have slimmed down so much! my boots are even "baggy" now...stretch really good before and after on those calves. this helps elongate the muscles (or so ive been told) instead of the bulkiness.

Oh - I'm the same - 15.5" calves and 15" knees! I've just always had big, muscley calves. I've never been a runner though - do you think cycling might help?

i think jogging would be a great way to tone those calves up. i think i have 15 inche calves too. but i never thought they were too big. hmmmmm? i don't mind my calves, i want my thighs to lose inches. they are huge!!!! but i have read to walk and warm up the muscle before you stretch them. that by stretching before warming up your legs, it is like stretching a frozen rubber band. you should walk for a few minutes, then stretch and then jog and then after your cool down walk, stretch them again. Am I wrong??? that' s what i've read.

oh by the way, as you can see in my signature, that is not me in my avator. but if you click on my name, you can see my profile with a pic of me. it was taken last year in november when I met the band Trick Pony. so i am the girl in the green sweater....not that anyone could confuse me with the pretty, slim girl. hehehe.

Gee, I'm 5'3'' and my calves are 14.5 and I never thought they were big... and at your present weight it doesn't seem that they are that big. I agree that running would lean out your calves as would any other cardio. Maybe they are just a tough spot for YOU to lose, but the fat will eventually go down...or it could just be that it's genetic, does your mother or father have large calves, if so just learn to love them and wear nice shorter skirt to enhance their muscularity with heals, wowsa that would look good!

My calves measure in at 13 1/2 inches and they were 15 when I started. I use a treadmill for cardio and I like to mix up my intensity by fiddling with the incline. I will even jog for a few minutes and then go back to brisk walking. My calves are one of my favorite body parts right now. I even shaved my legs to show them off.

I hate my calves. Mine get smaller one measuring session, then bigger the next!! Overall they have got slimmer, but its taking so long!!!

I am taking up running and hoping that makes a difference. The shape of my calves has improved immensely so I am not so worried about the size.

I used to hate wearing heels, it's a lot easier now on the balls of my feet. I wear knee high boots alot (a special wide fitting) that covers a multitude sins. Not so hot when you're wearing a bathing suit though

Ahah, biggest calfs here - 16" YOWZA!

They look good in heels and they kick in the ring, so I love em to bits, even though I can only get them in one pair of "baggy" (supposedly) boots.

Try running and weights and they'll get smaller in the end, when the fat comes off

Default I hear ya, 2 Fru

Mine are FINALLY just started to swim in boots with a 16" shaft! My frustration (before committing to exercise) was that I could not find boots to fit around my calves.

Agree with the suggestion to just keep working out. As I keep moving, the "wider" areas, all over my body, are starting to tighten up.
