Yesterday was a slow day for me (I knew it would be.).
6886 steps for a total of 134519 for March. Hoping for more today as I am back at work. Michele  |
I did go for a walk today, and boy was I glad I did! I walked 5500 steps on that walk, going 2 miles. I've been doing a few things around the house as well, so my total will be VERY nice today :D
|
Well I did great today... my total was 14,816! I was walking around the house trying to make it to 15,000 but got tired of it LOL
We are at 771,484 Still to go 228,516 |
10064 for me Monday. New total: 144583 for March
Michele  |
Yay, way to go, Michelle! We should pass the 800,000 mark today! And it was only Sunday that we crossed 700,000. Everyone is doing great!
|
Man, yesterday was SUCH a good day! I felt incredibly good. Between the 2-mile walk, housework, and weights, I was really energized... until 9:45 when I crashed and burned and fell asleep :D
Yesterday's total was 9,530 steps, bringing my total for March up to a whopping 106,277! I'm playing with the big girls now :D |
Woohoo look at us go!!! Definitely no grass growing under our feet!
Lydia, congrats on breaking 100K!!! You're doing swell! Michele, you're definitely on track for a Million for Easter! Great job! Dance, fantastic day, eh? Nearly 15K! Yippee! As for me, my contribution for yesterday (March 13) is 10,181, bringing my total to 222,841. I'm planning to treadmill through the whole hour of American Idol tonight, so, depending on what I can get before the show comes on, today has potential to be a biggie! We'll see! Keep steppin', everyone -- we might break the million before Springtime rolls in! |
Keep Walking! Maybe we can walk to China or Italy!
Great Job everyone :carrot: I loved the spreadsheet idea and I've borrowed it :D
Another idea, which I stole from when I went to Weight Watchers, though it would involve a little math, is to "walk across the country" so you start at one coast and track the steps/miles across the country. Perhaps it would not translate as well because we are all from difference places. Of course, we could always walk across some great foreign land like Italy. Anyways, thanks for this post, it's been a great way to see how those extra things like taking the stairs, parking further away, etc. can really add up. Even on days when I haven't officially exercised I've tried to get that number up, it's all about the awareness and accountability for me. So I've been great about walking and exercising in general but horrible about posting, so here's another weeks worth of steps. Total number of steps to date: 92,047 Trying to consistently get to that 10K a day mark! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK EVERYONE!!! __________________ |
Great job, everybody!!! Wow, way to go!!! We are knocking these things out! This is great and SO motivating!!!
Today I got 12,139. Totals are Steps walked = 877,953 Still to go = 122,047 WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE |
1 million steps, coming right up!
Woo Hoo! At this rate we can knock the first million out by the weekend!
|
My thoughts exactly!!!! From that comment sounds as if you don't plan to stop at a million LOL. I think it might be good to rename the thread and invite some more folks in... what does everyone think? Maybe we could call it Second Million Step Challenge... Join In!! or ????
|
Or the Million More March... I love the idea of continuing!
HealthierMe, I had also been thinking about a March Across the US! Great minds think alike, eh? I was thinking perhaps we could follow Route 90, which starts in Boston and ends in San Francisco (I think). At over 3,000 miles, it's the longest continuous highway in the US. As we pass through each major city, people from that area could fill us in on what's going on there! Then we could March across Europe, Asia, Africa... Not sure how we could get to some of the island places (ooo marching along the beaches of Bermuda!), but I'm sure we could figure it out! In any event, I think it's a great idea to get more folks involved! We can March Around the World! |
Million More March is good as we could keep it later... and just put a number after it!!
I like the March across the US too... and having someone from each area fill us in and be "honored" as we go through their area! That is a fantastic idea!!!! I would be in!!! LOL if we start on the East Coast it would take me a LONG time to get home but that is fine... I would be skinny minny by then!!! Anyone talented at mapping out the route?? Go for it!! |
Today was another great step-day. You guys will love me in the morning when I post my total :D
|
Oh wow, Lydia, this is going to be good... I can tell!!! Can't wait to see it in the morning!! Keeping us in suspense!!!!
|
Ooooo Lydia, the suspense! I can't wait to see!
|
Bleh, Lydia's not here yet! Guess I'll have to check back later.
Did my workout during AI last night. Did about 40 minutes strength during hour 1, then hopped on the treaddy for hour 2. I fugured I'd pump up my steps numbers by doing a solid hour. Mistake! One solid hour is just a bit too much with no break. My legs were JELLO after!. Next time, I take a break somewhere in there! Oh well, my number for yesterday was 10,891 (total = 233,732). |
Not as good yesterday as I'd hoped. 8878 steps for a total of 153461 for the month.
Hoping for a better day today..... Michele  |
Hey, that's great, Lena and Michelle!! Bet that Lydia is going to take us right over the 900,000 mark... can't wait for her to show up and take us out of our suspense LOL.
We are at 897,722 -- still to go is 102,278! |
Hey, I looked up the distance from Boston to Seattle on Mapquest! It is 3,082 miles!! That is a little closer than San Francisco and I am prejudiced LOL. Does anyone on here LIVE in or near any EAST Coast cities? It would be good to start and stop where someone actually lives, don't you think?
I think we should try it LOL |
Oops Michelle... I have you at 153,461 for the month. Could you please double check.
9,211 13,659 13,714 13,162 5,003 9,448 13,406 6,886 10,064 8,878 153,461 |

First off, you girls are completely rediculous when it comes to waking up early. I don't roll out of bed until at LEAST 7:40, more often after 8:30 :p Once I get curtains for my window, I'll probably be sleeping until 9 or 10  But anyway, on to my steps! Yesterday, between an hour and a half of yardwork, shopping for 3 hours, and helping to move a few boxes from the apartment to the house... I clocked in at 9,174 steps, bringing my total up to 115,451. I told you I was playing with the big girls now :carrot: I'll catch you! *puffs* :running: But seriously, I'm very satisfied with yesterday's total. Yesterday was... rough. I know it sounds all fine and good, but I barely ate or drank anything all day and felt HORRIBLE. I got such a bad migraine that I didn't get to sleep until midnight. That blister I got on Saturday? It popped yesterday while I was out shopping. Nothing worse than feeling a gush between your toes and realizing it's body juice (for lack of a better word :p). That was at around 3pm, and I'd only accumulated about 4,000 steps by then. So I did 5,000 additional steps on an injured foot. I'm definitely proud of myself. |
It was my mistake. My Excel program somehow changed my 9211 to 9511. I fixed it!
Thanks for letting me know! Michele  |
Wow, Lydia... I am so proud of you!!! You are doing great!! And LOL at 7:40 AM I have already been at work for 40 minutes!!!
Thanks too, Michelle, for checking the figures. My total for today is 13,645. Are you ready for this? Steps completed = 920,541 (!!!!) Still to go = 79,459 WOW we are on the home stretch!!! |
And here I thought getting back to work was good for my walking! I haven't hit 10000 since Monday!
Yesterday (Wed) it was 9854 steps for a new total of 163315. Happy Thursday! Michele  |
Wow we are getting close...
Total walked = 930,395 Still to go = 69,605 |
Do we want to try the coast to coast walk across America? Is someone planning it? If not and everyone wants... can't believe I am saying this... I will plan it and keep track.
|
I would love to do the coast-to-coast thing! Seeing as I've driven across America several times, it seems only appropriate to walk :D
My steps for yesterday totalled 5,652. Funny thing, I was out at Costco with my mom and one of the employees there looks at me, points to my Omron and says "Is that a pedometer?" So we talked for a minute about how you never get as many steps in as you think  |
Another 8,372...
Good Job everyone, you ladies amaze me with your consistency and totals!
Well, I live in Mass, but not Boston. I am aabout half way between Boston & Providence, RI. I'd be happy to share the coast to coast tracking with someone. I guess we'll have to decide how many steps are in a mile. Obviously, it differs between the taller chicks and the short (ahh, I'd love to say petite, but it doesn't quite fit...at least not yet, maybe by Nevada;), so we'll have to reach a consensus. I am good at the math but bad at the geography, so that's my hesitation. Anyway, enough ramblings. I walked 8,372 steps yesterday (total-100,419) Have a great rest of the day! |
Well we don't HAVE to start in Boston...we could start in your town if you want! It would be great to have two people doing the tracking. It is wonderful that you live there! I am in Seattle suburb and we have some Midwesterners in here. LOL Sorry Lydia I don't think we can manage to bop down to Texas. <G> But still no matter WHERE anyone lived we could still "honor" them as we passed the closest point to their house, even if it was a long ways away.
And I think we could use the "average" of 10,000 steps equals five miles... I know I sure don't plan to try to program my pedometer, and some people's peds don't SHOW the miles. I was looking at Mapquest last night... and narrowing down the towns to go between so we got the smaller towns... good to stick the I-90 route don't you think? I would be glad to help with tracking also but if others want that is fine too (after all it was YOUR idea LOL). And we could also have a chat thread of course!!! with input from everyone. Other opinions? |
Even shorties like me can keep up with you tall people :running: It just takes a little extra work :D
My pedometer displays miles, so I'm good there. It takes about 2,800 of my steps to get to a mile. At least I think that's what I averaged it out to be... I can't remember! Hahaha. My strides are 1'11" so yeah, that's about right. It's all good, though. |
Coast to Coast via I-90...We'll walk our way to Seattle
I think that mapping it via I-90 it perfect, in Massachusetts it's called the Mass Pike and I live fairly close to it in a tiny town called Hopedale.
So, we'll assume 10K=5 miles, I don't think my short little legs cover quite that much mileage, but it works for me - It will make it much easier to track. Should we call it the Coast to Coast Challenge? Yay, this should be fun :carrot: |
Oh that is great that we already have some information from the starting point. And I think the Coast to Coast Challenge is a great name.
I found Hopedale on Mapquest! And if some want to specifically measure their mileage that is fine. Don't worry, Lydia, my 5'9" will help balance you out LOL Let us know where you want to go from here, HealthierMe! BTW your original plan was to San Francisco... if someone lives near there and you want to do that, that is fine too... I didn't mean to "hijack" the walk LOL |
It would be fun... if we could get permission from 3FC... to post links to webcams from the places we go through LOL. And we can post weather reports LOL
|
Wow! I haven't checked in here today, this is great!!!
I used to live in Boston and I know exactly where Hopedale is. A friend of my son's used to live there, somewhere near Route 126 I think!!! VERY pretty town. Small world! 10K = 5 miles sounds good to me. Coast-to-Coast sounds good, too! I've actually driven Route 90 from Boston through Chicago (I think that's where I branched off to go north to Minnesota). It goes through some very pretty territory in Western Massachusetts (the Berkshires) and Upstate New York (Finger Lakes area and near Niagara Falls). I'm loving this! And I'd be more than happy to help with the Travel Plans! Oh, my yesterday was nice = 11,789. Today, naughty! Currently 3,662 :o and since it's already 11pm I doubt it'll go much higher unless I do some sleepwalking! ((edit: late night bopping about the house brought the total up to... drumroll... 3,999. Just one more step!!! Oi! How embarassing is that???)) Total contributed: 249,520 (if I don't break 250K today, I'm turning in my pedo! :lol3: ) |
Oh yippeeeeeee it is great that we have people who are or who have been in that area! I was through a lot of those places too since I've been in most states... but LOL it was years ago so I forgot a lot.
And our step count is fantastic: Steps done = 971,231 Still to go = 28,769 |
Top o' the morning ladies!
Lena- You know of Hopedale, I am so pleasantly suprised. If people ask where I live and I say Hopedale they ususally give me a confused look (and that's from people here in MASS.) It's an interesting little town with a lot of history, there is even a children's book on Amazon about it. Route 126 is indeed nearby, as is rte 146 and rte 16. So I will start the planning this weekend on the Coast to Coast challenge this weekend. Hopedale to Seattle it is (honestly San Fransico or Seaatlle, either way, but Dance since you are from Seattle, I say let's go there. Then we can head down the west coast if we want) I will try to dig up some of that history about the town to include with the starting point. Then we'll be off to the Bershires, where I would strongly suggest that we add in a little James Taylor to the walking music mix. he does mention the "turnpike from Stockridge to Boston" afterall. :listen: Now for the steps, not great yesterday steps=7,212 total= 109,631 I am thinking about going to decathalon sports this weekend, and looking for the Omron pedometer that you helpful ladies have mention. I have a feeling I am going to be working harder to get that 10k a day in :D Have a great step-filled Friday! |
March 16 steps: 11006
March total steps: 174321 I'm in for the Coast to Coast, too! Michele  |
Woooo hoooooooooo would you believe
Steps walked = 989,449 Still to go = 10,551 Today's the day! I have a request... small thing but would sure help me keeping track. Instead of just saying "yesterday" or "today" etc. please say what day it is ... i.e. Tuesday or the date. I am going nuts trying to look at the posting date of the message and then figuring out what day is being talked about etc. :) Thanks everybody! HealthierMe thanks so much for planning this!!! And see I am already learning things about your part of the country!! I know what you mean about people not knowing where Hopedale is... I actually live in Bothell but who has ever heard of THAT LOL? It is a northeast suburb of Seattle. |
My steps for 03/16/06: 5,155, bringing my total steps to 126,258. Yesterday was really slow for me... half of those steps came from a relatively short walk I took yesterday.
By the way, Dance, I lived in the Seattle area for about 9 1/2 years (about 7 of those years were in Kent), so I know exactly where Bothell is. Small, small world! |
