Hi. Is anyone just strating to workout that wants to buddy up? I joined a gym a while ago but have been going sporadically. I want to be more serious about improving my physical fitness. Also is it better to do cardio first and then weights or the other way around?

Not sure which is better to do first...I'm attempting just to get busy at least 30 minutes a day!
BTW, hi -- I'm just starting out. As I've mentioned all over the boards, I am in the worst shape of my life. It's hard to believe that last year, I was eating right and exercising and feeling great (not anywhere near my goal weight) but I was doing good.
I use mainly workout videos and workout programs to get moving.
I don't think it matters medically which to do first. I always do cardio first, so I don't burn out my muscles with weights and then have an injury while doing cardio. Plus, after cardio, my muscles are warmed up and ready for weights. I think it's just good that you're out there doing it!
Hey!! I would love to buddy up with you!! I've just started going to the gym this last week. I'm going MWF for about 45min to an hour. Also, DH and I are working on this couch to 5K thing....it's pretty cool....I have quite abit to go....So here we go!!
Hi. I started working out the end of November 2005. I work out on an elliptical machine and the treadmill. I like to use free weights for my muscle gain.
I do 5 min of cardio and then weights, while I still have steam to lift my best. Then I follow up with a regular cardio session afterwards, or later in the day.
In my experience it has been better to do weights first and then cardio. If you do cardio first you burn all your energy and won't be able to push yourself hard enough in your weight training to see good results. It's anaerobic vs. aerobic.
Do a cardio warm up (5 mins) then do your weights, then go back to finish up with cardio. Or better yet don't do them both on the same day!
Nope I played football in high school and then two years in college. That is just what the trainers always told us!
The few times I've tried to do weights after cardio - I really struggled to the point of not even being able to finish my sets. To each their own I guess!
I just started working out myself, since High School which was 15 yrs ago, It's really hard, but I am tired of being weak, and tired all the time. Does exercise really make you feel better?
