I can give your my opinion on #1

Don't waste your money on a cheap treadmill, etiher manual or motorized. Manuals are usually pretty short. Treadmills need regular maintenance for belts and decks. It has been my experience that the manual belts shift to the side rather easily and are difficult and annoying to adjust.

If you've got cat litter or dust in your house, every particle finds it's way to your treadmill deck and this affects the smoothness of your walk. A cheap motorized treadmill may not have a big enough motor (think TORQUE) and can burn out. ( I was thrown off and almost landed in the catbox!)

You can't pick up your treadmill and take to the store for service, they must come to you, a house-call is EXPENSIVE.

use the one at the gym and avoid the aggravation....

But I lust after the TREADCLIMBER......

I got mine from HSN, they had the best price and the stabil. bar (very important) and 2 DVDs free S&H. got it in 3-4 days, 3 split payments ----you know I love it......it will fold up but you can also avoid the injury (think wild animal jaw trap) and just fold the legs under to slide it under the bed. My cats think it is a great bed so i just leave it out.

Don't waste your money on a manual treadmill. I bought mine for about $600 at sears 6 years ago~ it still works and I never had to have it fixed.I guess I got lucky though.
My 2 cents would be to "invest" in a good one and use apayment plan if you don't have cash readily available. Think of it as an investement for your future.
