Exercise Accountability #19- - October '05

Wow another month  ... Next thing you know we'll be in the month of December and all that food! How are we going to burn those extra calories? We're going to start NOW by getting into a routine of working out daily!

So.... What's on the agenda for exercise? For me, well I'll be running a 10k first thing in the morning. I love this time of year for running and doing stuff outside... How 'bout YOU!!

pamintx 10-02-2005 02:31 AM

I'm new here, and I just joined the presidents challenge also. I have been walking in the morning after I get off work (work graveyard shift at police department). I haven't yet made it a habit but I plan to make it one this month. Thats my goal.

FishWoman 10-02-2005 03:59 PM

Yesterday I took a 45 minute pilates class and a one-hour step aerobics class.

My exercise goal for October is to incorporate weight-lifting 3x weekly. I am supposed to start today, but got called into work. I should still be able to get something in when i get home. I will let you all know tomorrow.

dizzi_v 10-02-2005 10:07 PM

Welcome Pam..
My goals for october is to stick to exercising the last three weeks I have really sucked at it starting tomorrow I am going to get back to it.. I want to do at least 300minutes a week..

Jenaya 10-02-2005 10:55 PM

I have been MIA for a week due my child being in hospital. I paced the hallways but it wasn't near the exercise I needed!! However, I am sure I burned quite a few calories being up for 72 hours straight...oh, parenting. My Momma never told me it would be this hard lol.

Back at my exercise today, 50 minute walk. I have a bit of a cold so I will keep it to walking for the next few days. My goal, once my life settles into its normal rhythm with everyone healthy and well - get back to my 1.5 hours/movement per day.

3fcuser1058250 10-03-2005 09:00 AM

Monday -- LEGS :strong: and cardio, today I will do the bike at the gym...

Jenaya 10-03-2005 12:28 PM

Bike - 30 minutes
Walk - 20 minutes

FishWoman 10-03-2005 01:14 PM

okay - i was right - by the time i got home sunday all i did was eat :(
the worst part is, i was telling myself to not eat so much because i didn't work out, and another part of me was telling myself how freakin' starving i was.

But, today is the start of a new, successful week! I made it to the gym this morning and took a 45-minute total body conditioning class (it is low-weight/high-rep lifting for arms/legs, as well as some ab/glute work).

I hope everyone has a happy week! Happy new year to any other Jewish persons on the board!

dizzi_v 10-04-2005 05:46 AM

Janaya- Hope your baby is doing better...

Monday- 50minutes of treadmill (at the moment this seems to be all I can make myself do for an hr lol)

3fcuser1058250 10-04-2005 08:56 AM

Fishwoman -- Was your Monday new start day good? Please share...

Tuesday -- chest triceps, bike to gym, 5k run this afternoon...

Jenaya 10-04-2005 11:52 AM

30 minutes elliptical
20 minutes walking

Heather - yes, thank you, my baby is much better. She was diagnosed with asthma....sad! We all seem to have a virus that is affecting our respiration so no wonder it hit her double hard if she is asthmatic.

What do the rest of you do when you are ill? I am just trying to go gently but still keep moving. Hopefully that won't prolong the problem but rather get this cold over with quickly! Fishwoman, how did your Monday go?

3fcuser1058250 10-04-2005 12:06 PM

Jenaya...When I'm not feeling well I usually take some time off 2-3 days, then I gradually reintroduce exercise...Happy to hear your baby is feeling better.

FishWoman 10-04-2005 12:47 PM

Yesterday wasn't too bad. I did gain 2 pounds from last week though :(

I kept my calories under 1600 (but ate 1500 of them after 6:30 at night).

I managed to eat b'fast today - but will not make it to the gym until after work. But i WILL go!!!

Jenaya - if i am fever sick, i will not work out for a day or two. If i just have a cold, or cramps, or whatever, i either push through it, or, more typically, just do something very low impact (walking, or stretching, something very easy).

What!!?? :fr: ... Eating 1500 calories after 6:30pm may be why you are gaining weight. 1600 cals/day is a very good amount but in order to lose weight you must separate that into 5-6 meals to keep your insulin levels even and you won't be starving when your next meal comes around. Eating regularly keeps your metabolism burning calories and fat. Do you not eat breakfast, snacks, lunch?? When you are eating your calories in one meal you are ravenous and will eat everything in sight. PLUS your body will keep those calories to hoard because your body thinks you are going to starve it again for another 20 hours....

hulahips 10-04-2005 01:18 PM

Been MIA for about a week. New and trying my best to get to emailing. Sunday was a okay workout with Cathe's Circuit Max. Didn't have the energy though. Seems to be zapped out of me. Yesterday was the Firm's new calorie burner video. Off tonight, going to a Taste of the Town for work. Maybe trouble. :dizzy:

dizzi_v 10-04-2005 04:31 PM

Janaya- Glad she is better.. I normally take a day or so off.
Fish- Just keep on working..
Monday I did 50 minutes of treadmill. My husband hide my scale from me so I haven't weighed but I"m sure I haven't lost anything not exercising as I should the last 3 weeks...

Ilene, trust me, I know that is part of the problem. Unfortunately, sometimes I get so busy at work (i.e., yesterday) that I literally do not have 5 minutes to eat something. Between phone calls and meetings yesterday, it took me almost 40 minutes to even be able to drink a can of v-8.

Today I was able to eat b'fast and lunch (total of about 600 calories) and i plan to eat no more than about 600 for dinner tonight. I should have gotten a snack in today as well, but i didn't eat lunch until 3 - so now i am not really hungry. I will probably get to have dinner around 8 if nothing comes up at work.

Ok, you're forgiven, but please try to get more meals in there girl!

Hi Honeys, I'm home!
Since last Wed I've gone for two walks. Ate too much, drank too much ... But I only gained 4 lbs.
I've got enough laundry and housework to do that I shouldn't have any trouble working it off.
I'm posting hello first and then I'm going to read and see what everyone's been up to this week.

FishWoman 10-05-2005 01:27 PM

Yesterday I did 45 minutes on my home elliptical.

Ilene - you will be pleased to know that in addition to eating a sensible dinner last night (about 550 calories total), i have already eaten both b'fast and a snack today. I am getting ready to go to the gym, and will eat salmon and snow peas when I get back.

Okey-dokey, I did 45 minutes on the gym's elliptical this afternoon.

WaterRat 10-05-2005 01:48 PM

Hi Susan!

My "exercise" last night was moving furniture so we could have our carpets cleaned today. It was definitely a :wl: exercise. And to think I'll get to do the same again when the carpets are dry!

Wednesday -- 1 hour swimming laps

dizzi_v 10-06-2005 04:58 AM

Wednesday-20mins of treadmill
This is weird but my pulse was over 300 and i got dizzy while doing it...

4rabbit 10-06-2005 07:11 AM

Dizzi-
if your pulse is over 300 and you are feeling strange please STOP whatever you are doing and sit down untill your pulse gets back to normal.

Did you ask a medical professional about this?

rabbit

StephanieKaye 10-06-2005 08:43 AM

So I went to the gym yesterday. My goal for October is to go three times a week. I know I can do this, it is just a matter of forcing myself to go. I fight with myself daily to go there, but once I actually get there and begin my work out I feel so good and don't understand why I had to physically force myself to go. I guess thats what happens when you get into a lazy routine for so many years...lol

tikanique 10-06-2005 09:13 AM

Billy Blanks!

Tiki.

FishWoman 10-06-2005 03:49 PM

Today i lifted weights for 20 minutes, did 5 agonizingly long minutes of abs, and then finished up with 25 minutes on the elliptical.

Jenaya 10-06-2005 10:26 PM

Dizzi - if your heart rate is that high and you are dizzy you should seek medical attention. That is how our heart cries out for help....

I am still coughing up a lung, so to speak, so I am just doing what I can. Today, I added a few flights of stairs but was I ever winded (completely unnatural for me), so I am just slow moving until I feel better. Glad to see everyone being active!!

WaterRat 10-07-2005 12:54 PM

Thurs night: light UBWO and 1/2 hour :tread:

3fcuser1058250 10-07-2005 04:46 PM

Friday -- back and biceps, 30 min biking...

degachick24 10-08-2005 11:13 PM

Hi all. I am new on this site. You have really encouraged me through your posts. I am starting over with the whole diet thing. I just re-joined weight watchers. I lost 3.2 this week ( my first one). I have already lost 30 lbs through only exercise. I have been running(3 days per week) and a powerflex class (2 days a week). I am really curious as to how long it will take me to build up to around nine miles. I have set a goal to run a 15k in March. Any suggestions will help. I still weigh 224lbs and have had some trouble with my feet but I am still running.

:workout:

dizzi_v 10-09-2005 04:32 AM

I take lots of medications ( had a kidney transplant nearly 2yrs ago) and that one must have slipped by... I'm sorry for worrying ya'll.I did call my doctor he said just to watch my bp the next couple of days and I should be able to exercise the rest of the week...

AquaWarlock 10-10-2005 08:03 AM

Hi all!

I just signed up for the president's challenge too... and my goal is to do 5-6 days a week of 40 minutes of cardio + 30 minutes toning + occasional swims and playing DDR. I've been doing 20-30 minutes of cardio up till now and feel ready for more.

I've am currently an at-home exerciser with DVDs, resistance bands, balance ball and weights... no need for anyone to see me jiggling my jigglies yet ;)

degachick24 10-10-2005 12:56 PM

Thanks for the welcome. I really need the accountability lately. I have been working lost of extra hours and I am having trouble getting up in order to get my run in. I live in Florida so it is still hot here and I prefer to run in the morning before work in order to perform better. My goal is 3-4 days of atleast a 2 mile run and weights two days per week.

:strong:

3fcuser1058250 10-10-2005 10:57 PM

Did an awesome 9k on Sunday...

:welcome2: AquaWarlock
