This what is written on the main page of the forum just below the Exercise Thread and it's my new mantra ...

So let's be accountable for our exercise...

Me first I guess ;) ... Today I am not doing any formal exercise I ran 10k yesterday and walked with DH last night, I am taking today off to wash windows and siding because it's just too :sunny: gorgeous out !! Plus it needs to be done in a big bad way :dizzy:

BrOOklyN ChIcK 04-11-2005 09:01 AM

Today I will be running around the track trying to beat my best of 2.0 miles straight last week. Going for 2.5 miled this time. I'm training for my first 5k in 3 weeks and I'm super super excited. :) yay... I think this weight loss journey has turned into becoming a runner, I don't mind it because my body is surely reaping the benefits.

Next! :)

KTna 04-11-2005 10:03 AM

Goals for this week:
1) 100 oz water per day
2) walk at least 30 minutes everyday
3) workout at least 30 minutes everyday
4) Smile!

Thanks for starting this thread!

JenR 04-11-2005 10:06 AM

today i'm going to walk on the treadmill for 2.5 miles :)

jennie934 04-11-2005 10:10 AM

my plan fot the week,
3x go to the gym, ellypical or treadmill
1-2x weights at gym or at home (this I never seem to do but I need to)
1-2x work out at home either step tape, or run in the park if its nice.
last week I stuck to it and I got off the extra flab I had pack on during Easter so this week I'm gonna do it to lose!

michellejy 04-11-2005 11:59 AM

I haven't worked out yet today- got sucked into working on my jewelry website today instead, but I plan to do it today still. At least I've been dressed for it since I woke up

Meg 04-11-2005 12:32 PM

I did 30 minutes on the bike and 15 on the elliptical this morning. Today's a rest day from weights; my legs are killing me from yesterday's workout. :D :D :D

KTna 04-11-2005 02:03 PM

Walked 43 minutes today!
Maybe 45 tomorrow?!?!
:)

WaterRat 04-11-2005 02:32 PM

Ah, putting goals into written words is always more compelling. . .

Gym for carido and weights on Tues, Thurs and Sat. Ride my bike outside (in addition) if the weather stays nice. :)

tikanique 04-11-2005 03:20 PM

I did 45 on the elliptical, 30 minutes weight training on legs. I was able to complete 4 sets on the leg press at 270, I usually can't do more than two.

Goal for tomorrow is Tae-Bo at 5:45 AM so I don't have to workout after cheer practice.

Tiki.

tikanique 04-12-2005 08:35 AM

Well, I didn't do Tae-Bo, was too lazy to go downstairs. Instead I stayed in my room and rode for 50 minutes on my stationary bike - most of the time was with the tension at its highest setting. Tomorrow morning is a gym day - 3 miles and chest workout.

3fcuser1058250 04-12-2005 08:57 AM

In a few minutes I am off to jog to the gym (2.5k each way) I'll do back and biceps when I'm there then jog home maybe I'll take a long way home... TTFN...

:coach: NEXT!!

BrOOklyN ChIcK 04-12-2005 09:44 AM

Yuck to me. I had a bad series of events last night that only cause me to do one pathetic mile, I truly believe that it wasn't meant to be last night. Will try and succeed tonight. :crossed:

michellejy 04-12-2005 10:12 AM

I didn't end up working out until midnight last night (yes, midnight), but at least I finally got to it :) Today I'm going to try doing the weight lifting that I wanted to do yesterday.

Meg 04-12-2005 10:16 AM

So far today, a half hour on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the bike. I discovered that I can study (notecards) while I do cardio - hurray!! Did abs with a client and hope to work out chest and shoulders this afternoon.

Next! :D

BrunetteChic_2000 04-12-2005 10:47 AM

treadmil - run/walk intervals 25 min
weights- sholders

Meg 04-13-2005 07:47 AM

30 minutes on the crosstrainer and 30 on the bike done. Hope to get a weight workout in before clients this afternoon. :D

Edited to add: did 12 sets of biceps and 9 of triceps.

jennie934 04-13-2005 09:56 AM

ahhh am I sore....so I've been doing 60 minutes on the ellypitcal but I decided to try and job a bit yesterday. I did 45 minutes on the tread mill, I start out at aobut 3.8mph then every 2 minutes go up 2mph until I hit 5mph which is about my limit. so I'm jogging about 10 min and walking about 5. Hopefully some day I'll have the stamina to jog the whole time. After that I had some time left so I did 30 min on the ellypitcal. so it was only about 15 minutes more than ussual but, I can really feel the difference in the two excersises. I still think I'm to heavy to jog everyday because of the stress and what not on my joints.
Today I'm busy but I hopefully will fit in something towards the end of the day.
keep up the work.
Jennie

I know this sounds weird but when you are losing weight, where does it go? I know the fat cells just shrink right you don't actually lose them but where does that extra matter go or what does it turn in to?
Just wondering.

tikanique 04-13-2005 10:02 AM

3 miles on the track, chest workout. Does chasing the kids around the house, rushing them to get dressed count as a workout? If so, then put me down for that too!

Good question! :)

Fat is a stored energy source for your body. When we eat more calories than our bodies need to function, the excess calories are stored in fat cells for use as an energy source in the future. Your fat cells are basically storage containers for ... fat. It's a liquid fat - it actually looks a lot like Crisco oil.

When you create a calorie deficit in your body -- by eating fewer calories and/or burning off calories with exercise -- it's forced to dip into its stored energy reserves for fuel. It takes the stored fat from those fat cells and metabolizes it as an energy source for your body functions. That's how we lose fat - our bodies are forced to use stored fat as fuel.

You're right that the fat cells shrink once they're emptied but never go away entirely. The cellular struture is left behind, ready to store fat again as soon as we start eating more calories than we use daily. It's my entirely unscientific opinion that this is why it's so darn easy for us to regain weight - the fat cells are already there and just waiting for us to eat too many calories so that they can plump up again.

BrOOklyN ChIcK 04-13-2005 11:02 AM

Sooo, I did it, I walked and ran 60mins yesterday...ran 15, then 30 mins straight...a total of 4.10 miles, my longest ever, i am indeed very excited. Stairmaster as well as strength today. Off tomorrow. then im going to 35 on fri. :)

neeeeeeeeeeeext *passing baton*

KTna 04-13-2005 12:50 PM

Walked 38 minutes yesterday.
hopefully 45 minutes today with 30 minutes aerobics and weights at home tonight.

tikanique 04-13-2005 01:44 PM

Got in a bonus 25 minute walk with a co-worker. I am so glad I now keep gym shoes underneath my desk so I am ready to walk at a minutes notice, whether or not I wear 3-inch heels to work.

3fcuser1058250 04-13-2005 06:02 PM

Missed the gym today :( , I know I'm going to miss it again tomorrow :(

michellejy 04-13-2005 10:13 PM

I skipped working out today. I pulled a muscle on my thigh yesterday and decided to give it a rest today. Hopefully, I'll be back to it tomorrow.

jennie934 04-14-2005 09:00 AM

Hi-
I worked out on the ellyptical for 60 min. and then some arm work yesterday. I stretched a lot to, my muscles were still so sore from jogging. So that is 3 days in a row!! yeah, I might not have time today to get to the gym. Its my long day at work but I might try and do pilates or something at home once I get off.
Plus I'm doing really well tracking my points and making good food choices.
Keep up the good work.

KTna 04-14-2005 09:06 AM

Walked 45 minutes today. 15 minute aerobic/strength training at home. 38 minute walk at night.

Meg 04-14-2005 09:25 AM

Walked on the track for 20 minutes and did 35 on the bike this AM. Today's going to be a busy one, so probably no weights. :(

michellejy 04-14-2005 10:32 AM

My thigh is feeling better now (good sore, not pain sore) so I'll be working out today. Hopefully, I'll do some weights as well.

tikanique 04-14-2005 11:03 AM

Tae-Bo with my man Billy this morning.

BrOOklyN ChIcK 04-14-2005 02:27 PM

stair master yesterday 30 mins and I did some strength for the first time in a week! I didn't even realize how long its been, im so focused on this running thing. Man your body feels so good after strength training. I gotta remember to do that after the running. Its my day off whoohoo! how exciting. I have a long run tomorrow so I gotta rest the leggies. happy exercise people. :)

tikanique 04-15-2005 09:11 AM

30 minutes on the elliptical - resistance set at 5 and 20 minutes working shoulders. I think the next time I do the elliptical, I will up the resistance to 6!

michellejy 04-15-2005 09:41 AM

After a two day break (that was supposed to be one), I'm ready to be back on track.

jennie934 04-15-2005 02:35 PM

Hi all,
yesterday I was so busy with work so I took a day off from the gym. Today I was also running aroudn so I did my step Rebok at home. its fun and gets my endorphins up, i"m not sure if it burns as much as 60 min on the ellypitical but some times I gotta mix it up. My weigh in in on sunday and I'm actually excited about going. must be the support from the daily checking and posting here! thanks ladies.

3fcuser1058250 04-15-2005 04:15 PM

Just finished a good 55 min run, it felt really good AND I was going out for only a minimum time but ended up going almost an hour... I'm happy with myself :D...

michellejy 04-15-2005 05:16 PM

I didn't work out as long or as hard as usual, but I did a little bellydancing today so I can live with myself :D

3fcuser1058250 04-16-2005 03:41 PM

No workout for me today... Went out with the girls last night OYE ... Tomorrow is a 10k run...

Meg 04-16-2005 04:04 PM

30 minutes on the elliptical - ALMOST made it to 400 calories (393). See, when I was heavy I burned calories SO much faster due to my size. Now that my weight is down, it's tons harder to get the calories up there, so my goal (not yet reached) is 400 calories in 30 minutes. It used to be so easy ...

Then 10 minutes on the bike and a good shoulder workout. One-arm DB press (alternating arms). incline flyes, cable crossovers, and pushups on the BOSU ball. Short and sweet. :D
