i did it

i tried it! i tried it!!! :dizzy: i like it, but i have to get more coordinated. here's the funny part. i only got thru some of the lessons. i tried one song and boy was that hard. i only got that far because my knee was aching. my legs definitely feel it. it was fun as well as funny to watch me. i will be practicing lots. it is great execise. i can see some of the points people make about the mats also. i did it barefoot so i wouldn't slide and twist my knee. i think it would be better on my feet with shoes. i'm going to have to find that recipe i saw for modifying it. i will be a dancing fool with lots of practice.

have a great week!
kathy

hi

hi sue! sorry it took so long ot get back. i am leaving for florida tomorrow and i have been trying to get stuff done.

i found that modification and a website "ddrfreak.com" under the faqs. i don't know how to put the website in this message. sorry i'm not that talented. :dizzy: the supplies come from the home depot (or whichever is better for you). a good size thick board for underneath and hardwood floor covering (which is a plastic sheet type thing). it looks like you staple the plastic to the wood, being very carefull not to staple the pad itself because of the circuitry.0.

i just think it would be better for my feet and knee with shoes on. i won't be able to play for a while because of my trip. :(

have a good wednesday!
kathy

ddr

Hello im kinda new here, :D and last month i read about ddr. I wanted to get it so bad it sounds so fun. Well i was going to get it for my birthday wich was at the end of last month, and the day before my b day i fell and broke my foot, so i didnt get it. I want to as soon as my foot is better. I know there are several different kinds of ddr which kind would you say is better as far as music. I have a ps2 and a friend of mine has game cube. Has anyone tried ddr on either of those and which one would be better?

Thank you :D

SueMarie301 02-09-2005 02:49 PM

Kathy - hi there, thanks for the link I'll check it out. Sounds like it might an interesting way to modify the ddr stuff. Have a safe trip!

Cricket - I have the PS2 and I also have DDR2 Max, and my daughter borrowed DDR extreme frmo a friend. I personally like the set up on the DDR2M, however I like the songs on the DDR Extreme LOL! I am sorry I didn't help much there did I.

Hi everyone!
My name is Shauna and I'm new to the site. I got my DDR today and was searching for info on google when I came across this board. Anyway.. I LOVE it and I've been playing all day! I wanted to join up with you guys in your DDR/weight loss adventures if I could! It is great to read the support you guys provide seeing as I don't have any friends seriously trying to lose weight.
Hope everyone is well,
Shauna

Hi Shauna Welcome to 3fc!!! It's great to have you here!

I have been so busy lately I haven't really had time to do my DDR but I have been getting in my exercise on my gazelle so atleast I'm getting something done lol. I'm hoping to order my hard DDR pads this week but we'll see if I get around to it :D Maybe I'll have my hubby modify the soft ones.
I hope you are all doing well!
Michelle

We finally opened it! Yesterday was Cody's birthday, and we danced for 2 hours last night. I got good and sweaty and it was a blast! I did something wrong though - I went back in to look at workout mode and it was blank. Bummer.

At Best Buy, there are some good thick pads developed by DDR Freak that will also fit into all game systems. Has anybody tried these? It didn't say if you could wear shoes or not. I definitely want to find something we can wear shoes with. We have the one pad that comes with the bundle, and I bought a Mad Catz pad. I heard those weren't very good, but I didn't want to invest too much if we hated it. It looks like we will probably upgrade the pads.

The pad that comes with the bundle was good, but the target to step on must be small. The song selection was spinning like crazy, and I looked down and my chihuahua was standing on the pad, so it is definitely sensitive, but I have a hard time landing my foot in the exact perfect spot. Although - her 1 inch paws managed just fine, so maybe it's just me!

DDR Extreme

I am so excited to find this board, I didn't know there were other DDR fans on here! I bought DDR Extreme for my PS2 about a week ago and I love it love it love it!!! My friends come over and we have "Extreme Dance-Offs." lol. You also really get a workout by playing double, which is one person with both dance pads. Whoo, now that's a way to break a sweat.

BostonMox 02-14-2005 12:18 AM

Hi Guys,
I'm so disappointed! The SECOND day of having my DDR.. the pad broke! The back censor/square doesn't work! Granted I played it a couple hours, I was barefoot and not stomping on it or anything at all. I'm not sure what the kind of pad is called but this is what it looks like: http://www.ddrgaming.com/dadareig1inc.html I guess tomorrow to ask them whats up and if I can get a replacement. Does anyone else have this kind of mat? Had any problems with it?

I hope everyone else is doing well!
Talk to you later,
Shauna

Madcats beat pad

Hi, I'm a DDR newbie & am wondering if it's me or my dance pad. I am using the training mode on SLOW song speed (1) so that I can be sure I am hitting the arrows exactly when I should be. I am using the Xbox DDR Ultramix 2 & EVERY STEP is registered as a miss!!! I know my arrows are working, as i can navigate using the arrows on my pad, however when I dance every step is a miss! I am timing my steps to the beat & exactly when the arrows hit the top bar. I don't know if it's me or if there's some sort to delay between my step & the pad reading my step. Should I take my pad back? Or should I modify my stepping? Have others had this problem? Thanks!

BostonMox 02-14-2005 02:11 AM

Hi Genesis,
You probably have the same pad as me.. the one that hooks up to the xbox. I got the xbox version because I already had an xbox but I have heard the playstation version is better. There is something wrong with my back arrow.. it has basically stopped working too. I'm gonna call the place I got it tomorrow to see what they can do about it. Maybe you can try bringing it back or exchanging it. The other three arrows work perfectly. So maybe I'll give the brand one more shot with a new pad. The only thing is, I can't even navigate with my back arrow so I'm not sure whats up with yours exactly, but for the same pad to both have problems is suspicious. Until you resolve it you can still play on weight loss mode or training cuz they dont cut you off if you "miss" too many times. I'm basically doing that and its the same thing so I still get the exercise.

Edit: My pad is actually called an Ignition pad not madcats.. sorry

Jennifer 3FC 02-19-2005 10:37 AM

Wow, this is surprising to see all the Ignition problems. I read extensively about the pads and Ignition got rave reviews and MadCatz had bad ones! We have 2 Ignition problems here, and I love my MadCatz one! An Ignition pad came with our Extreme bundle, and we bought a MadCatz from Best Buy to go with it, and the MadCatz is much easier. I feel like I have to stomp on my Ignition pad to make it work.

Are you wearing shoes on your pad? It might have damaged the pad. We haven't worn shoes, but I'm looking into some type of athletic dance shoe that might work. I'm not too crazy about doing this for a long time without any support.

BostonMox 02-19-2005 03:16 PM

I haven't worn my shoes once on it! The back is totally gone. But for now I still use it because I'm using it more for a workout than my score. When I get better (major improvements after the first week though!!) I will care more about the score and get a new one. Sometimes I feel like I stomp, but sometimes I seems very sensitive to touch.. I don't really have anything to compare it to. Maybe I'll get a madcatz one next time!
