Extreme is the newest one and I would recommend that one over DDR2 (I only bought DDR2 Max because my brother already had the Extreme version).

I also recommend giving your son a "just because gift" maybe call it a Winter gift... and you start using it!!! Yes, the Extreme pack comes with one mat, so go out to gamestop and buy a second one for $20... it's well worth it and a ton more fun to challenge people to play against you!

hi

hey michelle..i'm back!!! i went to wally world last nite and they still don't have any ps2's in. i have to get one there because i have enough gift cards to get one there. they said they don't know when they will get some. :( so i still have to wait.

i'm glad to see some new blood here. it will be nice to keep this going and building it up. as you have read, i have been trying to get a ps2 since before xmas. i can't wait to get one and get started.

in the meantime, keep those tips coming in so i will be "up" on everything when i do get one. thanks
kathy

Kathy, I think you can use Walmart giftcards at walmart.com. I'm going to go check and see for you. I can't wait for you to get one!! Even my baby loves it!! She doesn't do the steps on it but she runs in place on the map and does a few booty dips its sooo cute! lol

okay brb...

MichelleRae 01-05-2005 06:55 PM

Okay, you can use a walmart "shopping card" not sure if thats the same as their gift cards but I'm assuming it is but ps2 isn't available online there either lol DARN!!! Well I tried ;)

Gotta get ready for work

I bought DDR for my grandsons for Christmas because the oldest one is overweight and I was hoping this would help him get the exercise he needs to trim down. My daughters, grandsons, and I danced the night away and I was hooked! I immediately came home (from Baltimore to Ohio) and started my search for a PS2. Of course, they were sold out all over town but I lucked out one morning by being at the right place at the right time. I bought the system and DDR Extreme and I can't tell you how much I love it! I am 57 and have lost 50 lbs. over the past year and a half and my main mode of exercise has been walking 3 miles a day, but I'm a fair-weather outside walker and get pretty bored with the treadmill. I love to dance and am also very competitive so I love receiving a grade at the end of the song and trying to beat my own score. I DDR about an hour every day. My young friends at work find it hysterical that I own a PS2 but one commented today on how thin I am looking. I'm so glad to see so many post to this thread. It is so much fun to share something you love.

Let's keep dancing!
Sandy

hi

hey dancers!!
michelle - thanks for checking walmart.com for me. i already tried that idea too. it says out of stock. well, i'm not up for dancing much today. i got the "call" this morning. my dad passed away at 4:30am. i'm so glad i got to spend the last 2 weeks with him, it gives me some peace. i can just picture your baby booty dancing:rofl: that is too funny!

sandy - congrats on that 50lbs gone 4-ever!! :bravo: i am also a fair weather walker. i heard about ddr and all the good it's doing for people who don't like traditional exercise. with your inspiration, i hope i have the same success.(when i can find one that is  ).

well, i'm going to do some web surfing to keep my mind occupied. i hope everyone is having a good day!

I really want to get DDR. I think I might see if I can rent it first, but I really want it. I am sure I will buy it with my tax return.

I just got Yourself Fitness for the Xbox. I think that is what it is called and I did a 30 minute workout. It was waaay better than doing one on tv. I think it is so cool. I will be buyiing it for sure. ( I rented this copy with Gamefly)

MichelleRae 01-06-2005 02:46 PM

I can't wait to get Yourself fitness for ps2!! It is supposed to be out this month I believe! Lindy you will love ddr, it is so fun! Like I've mentioned before, I don't even feel like I am working out!

sandyjl 01-06-2005 06:33 PM

Kathy - I'm so sorry to hear of the death of your father. I lost my mother a few months ago and it has been so hard to "bounce back." It's amazing how much exercise helps. It just makes you feel better - mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Michelle - I agree with you. DDR is so much fun and doesn't feel like a workout at all (except for the sweat! :)) I haven't heard of Yourself Fitness. What is it?

MichelleRae 01-06-2005 06:52 PM

Kathy, my thoughts are with you my dear. Hang in there and know he is in the kingdom of the lord :) Hugs to you! Yeah my babys booty dances are soo entertaining lol her and her little bubble butt ;)

Sandy here is the link to yourself fitness I'm gonna get this one too as soon as it comes out for ps2! http://www.yourselffitness.com/default.aspx

Oh Kathy, I'm so sorry about your father! :grouphug:

Suzanne 3FC 01-08-2005 02:12 AM

I am so inspired by this thread! I'm going to go buy an xbox just so I can get DDR! I'll also get the "yourself fitness" because it looks interesting. I'm not into gaming, but DDR sounds like a lot of fun, and I don't even dance. I have all the grace, but none of the rhythm, of Mr. Ed. Maybe DDR will help that!

MichelleRae 01-08-2005 03:50 AM

Oh Suzanne you will absolutely love it!! Its so fun! We end up fighting over whose turn it is in my house! I have heard that the PS2 version is better than the xbox version though. I think that DDR has helped me to become more coordinated, which I definitely need it. I'm ordering yourself fitness for ps2 it's due out in early february, I can't wait!!

Let us know how you like it Suzanne!! You'll be dancing every spare minute ;)

Is anyone having trouble with their knees hurting doing DDR? I work in the physical therapy department at our local hospital and a therapist told me I shouldn't be doing DDR without shoes with arch support. I read on the directions for the pad that you are not supposed to wear shoes or socks on the pad. My knees are really killing me! (I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm 57!) Any thoughts?
