I haven't managed my walk yet today, my usual lunchtime came & went & I was still working. So I went into the canteen to eat my lunch instead - no where near as healthy as getting out in the fresh ear.

The kids are staying at their grans tonight - so when I come back from the hospital I'll put on my walking shoes & burn of some of these calories.

My eating has gone all to pot, but I have given myself a stern talking to, and I AM STARTING ANEW FROM TOMORROW. I put in capitals so it'll catch my eye next time I open this thread.

Marvin I hope your knees are better soon

Well back to the grindstone

Hi all...

I saw the doctor this morning, and had some so-so news. Apparently I have a condition called patellofemoral syndrome ~ which is a fancy way of saying that my kneecaps are rough and crooked, causing swelling. So, I have to start physio (can't get in until the 19th) and start doing stretches and strengthening exercises. I CAN go back to Curves, but can't do the knee bending type machines, and I have to modify some other things to compensate. So, that's good mostly.

Also, I can swim (flutterkick with no knee bending) and ride a stationary bike (within limits), as long as I don't feel any pain while doing these things. So, I have to think hard about what I'm going to do. I think that if I go to Curves at least 3 times a week, as well as start swimming a couple times a week, I should be ok.

I'll be taking the weekend off again, and I'm trying to rest as much as possible, and as long as my knees feel ok, I'll try either swimming or Curves on Monday. As long as I don't overdo it... <sigh>

Well, that's my story. I'll start doing my stretches tonight, as well as taking some antiinflammatories and using ice packs, and hopefully I'll be doing good on Monday. See you then!

to Big Sal, copperblu, mustang-sally, MarvintheMartian, zookeeper16.

Thanks for welcoming me to your group.

I completed my goals for this week 3 20 minute aerobic workouts, 1 upper body weights workout 1 lower body weights workout. My goal for this week is the same. I'm going to increase my exercise slowly so I won't get too sore and give up. .

I'll be back later to read all of your posts, I've skimmed them for now and I've seen some interesting exercise choices.

See 'ya soon.
