I am gearing up for the 5k walk the 25th. I went walking this AM and got lost in the maze of streets around my house. They don't run into each other and a lot of cu-de-sacs and I don't know the neighborhood well so I felt like one of my Psychology experiments in college! I have probably walked about 12 miles so far this month.

Hi all. I'm new today and this forum is just what I need to get me going again. I didn't walk today because it's "clean the garden up for the fall" day and that has meant lifting and moving sedum, peonies, daylilies and lilies so I'm getting a good workout.

Tomorrow I start back at my daily walks. I walk in the forest on very well kept trails that are for me only.......... we keep them up by dragging heavy chains behind the tractor and it works perfectly.

I have 12 hills on my 1 hour route so the work out is a good one.

So far in October I've only walked 42 km and I really need to get the lead out. I'm glad I found this spot..........

Hey all! Faye A new walking thread, right on.
I know what you mean about getting lost in culdesacs. Especially when a lot of the modern houses look alike , it can make one a bit crazy. Good luck training for the 5K

Well, I've got 11 miles under my belt so far but I'll be burning up the pavement this month since I've got some new motivation going on. I just signed up for WW this past Saturday so I've got the threat of a weekly weigh-in, live and in person to keep me on track. (I've heard a lot of good things about WW and in fact, Kristen who occasionally pops in here was the one who inspired me to join), thanks Kristen .

Timlin, your area to walk sounds great! I average an hour and 5 or an hour and 15 minutes daily, depending on my detours. My route is mostly paved residential but over half of it's uphill. I like that I can climb those hills without huffing and puffing like before.

Hi Holly. You're blazing . Hope to see you around here often.

Well, it's back to work for me. Have a great day.

Aloha!

Edit: 8:12 pm
Got in 3.25 miles this evening
for a total of 14.25 this month.
Let's go!

Got in 60 minutes on the glider today. My dd bought me a Sony walkman CD player for my birthday so I can now play all my oldies CD's and bebop while I am either walking or on the glider. It has a great anti-skip feature so shaking it around while I am move hasn't been a problem.

Hope everyone is doing well with their walking. I know a lot of you will soon have difficulty because of weather. I hope you have prepared an alternate method to get in your exercise.

Have a great day ladies!

Good evening ladies. I'm winding down my day with a quick post here. I got in my regular 3.5 mile walk. It's day 5 on WW and I think it's working! I've been making myself drink at least 114 oz of water a day (my two water bottles at work) and I finally saw some downward movement on the scale I'm not gonna celebrate yet, but I'm hoping to see at least a little loss at weigh-in on Friday.

Faye I like listening to music while I exercise at home as well. It makes you think of other things rather than the exercise at hand...and if you get tired, you can always tell yourself, I'll quit after the end of this song...sometimes i'd forget the song ended and by the time I realized it, the next song had begun and I was still exercising. So it's a great motivator and distractor. I'm lucky living here in Hawaii because the only type of inclement weather we have is rain--and when I'm motivated I just take an umbrella along, even in a downpour. I feel for you ladies who are experiencing 30 degrees in October! Brrrrrrrr!!!!

Hi to Holly, Timlin, Janine, Kristen...everyone. Have a great rest of the week. Let's get out and walk!

Good morning! It is almost my TOM so I am feeling really bloated and icky, also more tired. Do any of you have a difficult time exercising as much during and/or before your TOM because of fatigue? I am at 39 miles walked for the month so far. I seem to have such a difficult time losing this weight. I am 145 this morning, but feel swollen, so maybe it's the TOM lurking. I would like to get down to 130, but, sometimes that seems so impossible.

Noelle,

Hey! That is great that you are seeing the scale go down! Encouragement to keep on moving!

Timlin,

Hi! I have a hard time with hills, my knees can't take the impact.

Faye,

Hi! I use the WATP tapes by Leslie Sansone, so, I should be ok during the winter. I am hoping that our finances improve enough so I can get back to the gym.

Hello to everyone else!

Hey all, just logging in my 3.5 miles for this morning. I had my first weigh-in @ WW yesterday and was down 1.8 lbs. Downward is good! Last night we even ordered a Pizza Hut pizza and I stopped at 2 slices. I ate a big green salad before touching the pizza so that seemed to help. We had a large, pan 1/2 pepperoni (for my son who won't eat any other kind) and 1/2 garden chicken, which is the one with loads of garlic, tomato slices and fresh spinach leaves . I am pleased with myself since I stopped at two. The "before" me would've kept on plowing through the pizza box until there was no more--stuffing myself to the gills. I was plenty satisfied with just 2 pieces. I've been drinking lots of water today too. And yet another test for me tonight: a baby's first birthday luau. I already know I'll have green salad first then maybe a serving of chicken or other offering. Say no to cake and be happy. That's the plan anyway.

Holly, hope you're feeling better today, TOM should be on it's way soon. My experience w/TOM has been that with my daily exercise and more balanced eating, my physical discomforts have pretty much disappeared. Could be that youre feeling fatigued because you're not getting enough shut-eye? Take care of yourself girlie.

Hello to all the other ladies out there.

Good morning ladies. No walking for me today as it is thunder storming here. Guess the glider has to be it!

Noelle: I have one lady friend that listens to books on tape and only "reads" them when exercising so she gets the "can't put them down" books so she really gets in her exercising. I think that is a great idea, but our stupid library charges 50 cents per tape and that can get expensive if there are a lot of tapes. They also only let you keep them for a week. My friend says she "retapes" them and then takes them back to the library so she has enough time to listen to them. I just can't see paying to read books from the library so I stubbornly refuse to take them out.

Holly: I have heard nothing but good stuff about WATP tapes. Keep up the good work.

I better kick butt this am. I need to start on the upstairs today. I can't believe cleaning the house seems to come around so soon!

Good morning everyone!

I have a request. It came about when a lady that posts on my thread ask for prayers for family that have cancer. I am compiling a list of women who have/had/or died from breast cancer from the women here on the threads I post at. If you have a contribution, please send me her name. I am going to carry the list in my pocket the day of the race, which is a week from Saturday. In this way, I am walking for THEM!

Angry Hi Ladies!

I didn't realize anyone had started a new walking thread. Thanks Faye. Good luck with the walk Saturday, I will keep you in my thoughts.

I haven't been doing much walking lately, not much of anything period. Just been feeling a bit under the weather so to speak. I am getting back on track this week though and am hoping to see a loss come Friday.

WTG Noelle on joining WW and your loss! How are you liking it so far? It is actaully not so bad once you get the hang of everything. I really enjoyed going to the meetings and do miss that.

Holly, I have the 2 mile WATP video and I love it, that is when I do it. I have been out of the loop for about three weeks now but once I get back to my schedule I do it three days a week and then walk three days. I have been planning on getting the 3 mile and I thought someone mentioned a 4 mile one, not sure but would definitely like to get it also.

Hi to everyone else. Hope everyone had a great day today. TTFN

Hi ladies !!! Cristi glad you found us. Sorry to hear you've been feeling down. Hope things are looking up for you now. This thread waxes and wanes but luckily Faye has been giving us some CPR . This is my second full week on WW and I think it gives me the structure I need. Well, that and the knowing that I'll be facing someone in person to weigh in has been keeping me on track . I go to my 3rd weigh-in tomorrow morning and I'm keeping my fingers crossed . I'll let you gals know if I have good news or not.

Faye, that is a great idea about carrying the list on your walk next week. I am lucky in that I don't know anyone personally who has been afflicted with breast cancer. The best thing we can do is to be aware of our own bodies--do that BSE each month, make healthy food choices and always keep up with your physical exams with your docs! Oooh, sorry to hear about your Cubbies . I'm sure that so-called "fan" would be torn limb from limb if he wasn't escorted out of that game.

I have good news after all. Remember I told you gals about our dog getting attacked by a loose pitbull? Well, it seemed unlikely that the dog owner would be able to pay the vet bills since he was/is unemployed. But when I sent the certified letter to him demanding payment, I also addressed it to the owner of the house (who is related to him). The homeowner's insurance policy will reimburse us 100% for the vet bills within the next 2 weeks--just in time for our trip to Bangkok. I'm glad this is almost over and done with.

Well, it's a Friday night and my DH has had to work for a few extra hours. I think I'll put my son to bed then curl up with a good book...it's been ages since I've been able to read something without interruption. Have a great weekend ladies!

Noelle: There is ALWAYS next year for the CUBS.

Saturday is my walk and I am a little nervous. I have never participated in any kind of walk or race and don't know what to expect exactly. My dd and I are going Friday and picking up our numbers and our t-shirts. I know I can push myself this far, that is not the problem, I just want this to be a "star" on my accomplishment chart!

I walked 3 miles on Friday and 2.1 on Saturday I think is what it was. Sometimes, I think about how little that is compared to what others here and on other threads walk etc, but for a person that is still over 300 lbs, I have to remind myself that a block was too much just several months ago so I have made terrific strides.

Well I need to look on the race info and find out where the end of the race is. I want my dh to be there.
