ok so as yall may or may not know im a proud member of the YMCA n go faithfully mon-fri 12-2pm n bust my fat@ss! well an instructor asked me to join in a new class starting 9/1/12 twice a wk called TABATA i all excited to try new say oh ok cool cya then! i just read what it is n dear God in heaven wth was i thinking?! has anyone else heard of this or tried it yet n survived it? say a prayer for me and ill let ya know how this fat chick does!
yes ruth and that would be the exact article i read n yes that is the 1st thing that came to mind n out my mouth! this is what i get for acting before thinking!
I warmed up for 3 minutes walking at 3mph
Then I got to the Tabata for 5 minutes actually.
Then I did a cool down of 11 minutes walking at a 10% incline.
My Heart was in my chest..then in my throat, threatening to fly out of my mouth, I feel like I am going to pass out and can't catch my breathe. I guess I did it right!
It's super intense but I would love to do something like this on days where my schedule is jam packed and I am having a hard time getting in my regular workout, or just adding to the rest of my normal routine!
As with any exercise I do not think any one thing has made a difference cllectilively they allhave. I at one time was a total couch potato who did not exercise until I was 55.I could do nothing...yesterday I ran 9 miles.I am 60 now. I think Tabbatta builds your overall stamina esp. when you are in shape and can really push it.
well 1st class complete! while its definitely a killer work-out i am looking forward to my 2nd class tomorrow! there isnt a part of my body thats not feeling it today n was desperate for a catnap yesterday but did the rest of my work-out instead (YEA me)! as for the group setting which was also a 1st for me, we had a blast, laughing n carrying on n pushing each other to keep going! glad i signed up now!
