Default 10,000 Kettlebell Challenge

seeking participants to start Jan 2nd or 3rd for some :-) i know its still a holiday for some folks the 2nd of jan for recovery

If you’re looking to burn an enormous amount of calories, sculpt and tone lean muscle and feel incredible, KettleBell training is for you! Although Kettlebells have just become immensely popular in the fitness industry, kettlebell training is NOT new. Kettlebell training has been around since the early 1900′s.

Benefits of Kettlebell Training
■Total body conditioning: Kettlebell exercises are meant to work your entire body. While it may seem that you are really working your shoulders or legs, kettlebell exercises call on nearly every muscle in your body to perform a movement. This is unprecedented fat burning and muscle sculpting at its finest!
■More results, less time: Because each kettlebell exercise works multiple muscles, you don’t need to spend hours in the gym. Even a 30 minute power workout will get you incredible results.
■Lean muscle development: Because kettlebell exercises use light weight with repeated repetitions in a fast and concise movement, kettlebell exercises have lean, sculpted bodies. Kettlebell exercises are NOT used to develop bulky or thick muscles. This is particularly appealing to women.
■Major calorie burning: The American Council on Exercise estimates that Kettlebell workouts burn approximately 20 calories per minute, that’s 1,200 calories an hour! To burn that many calories, you would need to run a 6 minute mile for about 20 minutes straight!

http://kettlebellinc.com/magazine/20...ing-challenge/

Let’s do the math. 10,000 swings in 30 days is roughly 333 swings every single day.

Default You know I'm in!!!

I'm looking forward to this. I'll start on Jan 2nd.

I think I'm going to have to bring my 15# to work and purchase a 25# for home. The gym has 10#-35# for me to use, but I think that's the only way I'm going to get the swings in.

I'm very excited!!!

I just bought myself (err, picked out my own Christmas present, that is) my first kettlebell, so I'd like to get in on this challenge. Obviously since I'm new I will have to work up to it so I don't hurt myself, but I do SO enjoy setting lofty goals, lol.

Getting geared up for the challenge! I bought a 30 pounder today to use as well. I'm going to take my 15 pounder to my office so I can get some swings in at work.

Welcome, oxymoronica! Kettlebells are a great workout. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Hey gang! I did 400 swings today. Did half with the 30 pounder and the other half with the 15 pounder.

Ross, I really enjoy using kettlebells. Hope you will like using them.

I missed the last kettlebell challenge, so count me in. I bought myself a 15lbp and a 25lbp for Christmas.

It seems like a lot of swings to do in one day... but I'm up for the challenge!

I can only do a max of 30 swings at a time. I've only done 115 so far today. I hope to get to 200.

Can anyone who has done the challenge before comment on whether the max number of swings per set increases by much when done daily?

Hi gang! I did another 500 today. I'm trying to get a real jump on the challenge because I know there will be days of zero or a minimal number of swings.

Twish, Welcome! I've had to work my way up. 30 swings at a time is a great start. With lighter weight, I can do 75-100 swings (15 pounder). I can do 25-40 with the 30 pounder. You'll get there.

300+ swings a day is a lot, I admit. A good starting point may be 100 swings a day. I've been working out with kettlebells for a little over a year. This is my first attempt at 10k swings in a month.

Thanks JenJen! I managed to get up to 330 swings yesterday. I would get up every 30-45 minutes and do as many as I can. Only 175 so far today, but I don't want to overdo it. I'm doing the 30 Day Shred at the same time. The kettlebell swings actually help stretch out my abs, which feels great.

I'm really goal-oriented, which is one of the reasons this challenge holds so much appeal. When I was more fit, I did work out with kettlebells so it feels good to be "back in the swing of things."
