  • Walker here! I walk with one friend 4x a week, and another friend has started joining us two of those days. I also do DVD workouts twice a week. I didn't do much walking when I lost my initial 60 lbs, but I'm loving it this time around. Today is actually a DVD day, but reading this thread makes me want to walk!
  • Just walked 4 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes.
Feeling kinda lame 'cos I'm slowing down... Dunno why I just can't do the longer faster walks the last coupla days.
  • I walk 2 miles, 5 days a week. When I start to want to give up, I start to psyche myself out and have a mental argument/ninja fight between my future self and my chunky self. My chunky self always wants to go back to the car and go home, but my thinner self is always screaming PUSH PUSH PUSH, MOVE MOVE MOVE, She can't WIN!! And I see her her flames coming out of her head while my chunky self is waving doughtnuts and just being a general jerk. After this little visualization, I will have usually walked the whole distance I was about to give up on without even realizing it. I use my android to play soundtracks and so I have background fight music for my mental ninja match lol. I also use Noom app on my android, it tracks my distance using GPS, speed and calories burned.

    Hey, whatever works!
  • I LOVE NOOM!!!!! It's my whole life I swear.
  • I haven't been doing my usual long walks lately. It's waaaaaaaay to hot. My last walk was 5.25 miles and it took like 2.5 hours. I had to stop several times under shade it was so hot! It's been in the near 100's with the humidex in Toronto.
  • 6 miles in 2 hours on Friday. With one 15 min break, so I guess it's 2.25 hours.
  • I'm a walker as well. I was running for a while there, but I just recently torn a tendon in my calf so I'll be back to walking for a while. I've been walking 30 minutes on days that I don't do my 45 minute pilates dvd.
  • I've been walking 1.5 miles for the past week. I live off a gravel road with quite a few rolling hills.

I started out walking around the building where I work (nice & flat), but co-workers wanted to join me and I like to walk alone.

I don't mean to be grouchy, but my walking time is my "me" time. I can let my mind wander, listen to music or a book--whatever. PLUS, I'm a slow walker and the last thing I want is well-meaning people telling me how I should change my walking style. 4 miles in 1:15 on the flats is about my top time & I'm fine with that.
  • Yeah I am better at walking by myself as well. By myself, I can crank out 5.5 miles in an hour & 20... But when people join me they wanna do 3 miles (if that) and it takes an hour or more... ughhhh
