I got mine so long ago, so I don't remember if they were specifically called "noise-cancelling." I just checked on Amazon and it looks like they've been discontinued, which is a bummer. Looking on the Shure website, they've been replaced with a more expensive line.

The list price is $120, but doing a quick search online I found some much cheaper.

I can't talk about thi specific model, though. Sorry. But, FWIW, I would go with Shure again next time I need to get earbuds.

Just found a website that sells waterproof earbuds - H2o audio - and I'm thinking waterproof might be good. If you can swim in them - Michael Phelps is a spokesperson - surely they can withstand my sweaty head! I may well give them a try and see - they are in-ear buds and come with five sizes of covers so it sounds like it might be even more flexible than the ones that come with three. Such a challenge!

PLEASE update the thread when you get them, and let us know how you like them! I might be in the market one day.

I had the same problem for years - I tried so many types, I have a whole drawer full of them, including some pricy Bose types, which always seem to slip out of my ears while running. The ones I like best now for running (outdoors) are the Philips "Premium Sound" earhook headphones. They don't come out because they hook over the back of your ears. Indoors on the treadmill I like "noise cancelling" headphones to cut the sound of the treadmill.

Koss portapros, not earbuds :yuck: still the best mobile headphones i've ever had, they've been making them for over 25 years, thats how good they are.

Can't speak for looks but wear a snug cap over them and they are solid in place and partly hidden, but who cares when you are getting your sweat on ?

Jen - they're en route! I'll definitely post after I've used them a few times and give an expert review.

Alenna - the Phillips are the ones I have now. They do OK as in they don't fall out of my ears, but once the sweat gets going, they do slip somewhat so I lose the decent sound. And it's just annoying to have to take them out, wipe my ear, wipe the earbud, stick them back in, and try not to fall on the treadmill while doing that! Maybe I'm just too picky - I don't know anyone else IRL who has such issues!

Resolute - I really don't like over the ear phones, though I'm sure they would resolve the slipping out of the ear issue! I am constantly shoving my hair back from my face, so a headband-type set of phones would bother me as I can't get my hair back (it's not long enough to put up or tie back). Plus there's the sweat factor - the bigger earphones, I imagine, would get nasty with all the sweat collecting under them. Like I said, though, I may just be far too picky and difficult for my own damn good!

OK, first impressions of the new earbuds - awesome. Seriously. They came with five sizes of covers, and it turns out the mediums - which is what were "installed" - are perfect. I did an hour on a spin bike today and I soaked through my shirt and a towel, and they didn't move once. I think the combination of the various size buds plus the way they sit in my ear makes them a great solution for me. If anyone is interested, the brand is H20 Audio, I got the Surge 2G model, and paid $28 on Amazon. The retail is $50. They are completely waterproof and you can even swim in them, assuming you have a waterproof case for your iPod or whatever!

My standard earbuds that came with my Ipod have been driving me nuts for three years, but thought it would be the same issue with all earbuds and never even looked for others. On the suggestion of many, I bought Skull Candy earbuds yesterday, popped on the smallest size, and ran for 50 minutes without them coming out once. $10 well spent!
