Cool Competitive? Who, me?

I have two things going on right now making me a freaky gym person. One, I have a wedding next weekend out of state and I want to be as low as I can be. Two, our spin instructor has challenged us to a cardio challenge with a cash reward and I need new clothes!! So I've been collecting units for every 15 minutes of cardio I do each day.

So today, I got to the gym and did an hour of lifting. Gotta get the lifting in.
Then I did an hour spin class.
Then I did a full hour on the treadmill totaling a 10K! My furthest ever and after a spin class too!
And then I wrapped it up with a nice leisurely 15 minute walk...getting one more unit of cardio in.

During my nice leisurely 15 minute walk a woman hopped on the treadmill next to mine. I was immediately aware that my treadmill had gone over its 1 hr limit so all the numbers had been cleared. It looked like I had just gotten to the gym and was strolling at 2.5 for 15 minutes and then I was going home. It made me want to tell her, look, I've been here three hours! Like she cared! I almost started running again...almost. But I made myself get off the stupid thing. No...I'm not competitive. Not at all.

Now I think a nap may be in my future. LOL!

Haha. I once went to the "gym" at my old apartment complex (there was one treadmill and one elliptical). I generally used the treadmill, but that time there was already someone there using it, so I hopped on the elliptical instead. 15 minutes later my legs were killing me, but she had been running on that treadmill since before I got there, so there was no way I was stopping first. I ended up doing 45 minutes before she stopped! No, I'm definitely not competitive either...

The cool part is that now 45 minutes on the elliptical is super easy!

Sometimes it's a good thing, right?! Like in your case...that's awesome that she inspired you to keep going. I know that in the middle of my run today I was feeling pretty drained, but then a girl I see there often caught my eye and smiled at me and it boosted my energy a notch. I didn't want her to think I was putting any effort into my run. That's a good thing! But then there are times you have to say enough is enough. LOL!

I couldn't do FIVE minutes my first day on the elliptical. Wow, do I remember those days. I built up to 15 minutes, minute by minute. It's amazing what our bodies can accomplish, isn't it? Now the elliptical is what I make it. I can make it hard by doing intervals and really running with force or I could just glide on the thing...well all day.
