All or Nothing...need to find my way

  • Hi!

I don't usually post here but been so down on the fact that i used to work out 3,4 or 5 times a week faithfully! Up until probably a year ago April, i was going all the time. Spinning 3 X's a week, cardio, weights and so on. In June i bought a house in another town, it didn't make sense to go the distance to my old gym when the new gym is literally diagonal to my home. So we joined for 2 years, knowing how much i love it once i'm back into it. Yet, it's a new gym, not as nice, new people, no spin and so on so i can't get the feel for being comfy there. I don't feel like i have a "place" there nor do i care for any of the classes and they are off times from my work schedule. I'm at a loss, do i keep paying and walk/jog outside where i like being outside?? I don't know the answer

I guess my questions is HOW on earth do i get my motivation and dedication back to consistently go. I'm soooo tired after work and it's the only time with my bf. Thanks in advance!
  • sorry that you're struggling to get back in to it.

I know what you mean. I love it when i'm really active and want to go to the gym every day but it's easy to slip out of, that's for sure.

I don't really have an answer for you, but i think you could get used to the new gym with time. I have a gym membership that lets me go to different gyms in the same chain and there's about 5 of them near me. I used to go to one of them all the time and not really like the others, but recently i've started preferring a different one, just because i've been there a few times and gradually it's got more familiar.

You're tired when you get home from work because you're not exercising!! It's one of those ironys, you get more energy the more exercise you do, but it's definitely difficult to get back in to.

How about committing to a 20 min run or walk before work twice a week and at least one gym visit, then at least you're getting started and after that you're likely to get your enthusiasm back. Or splash out on a couple of sessions with a personal trainer at the gym. Something to mix it up a bit.

Good luck, let us know if you find an answer
  • Awe, switching gyms is hard! I'd hate to have to do it myself and I've done it in the past. They each have their ups and downs. Do you have a friend to go with you? That helps.

As for motivation, my biggest motivator is constant new challenges and fitness goals.
  • I was thinking maybe before work, i used to go before and after years ago! And it used to give me energy for the day and that way i was done after work and didn't feel guilty, i may try that good ideas ladies! I want to get my energy back.

Also, last year was when my father was very ill and passed away at Christmas so needless to say i shouldn't beat myself up i guess!
