if you can get up early enough you should eat an apple or something, they say eating within 45 min of waking up helps kick your metabolism into gear in a good way. but, you don't want to eat anything too much. Try it on an empty stomach first and see how that makes you feel.

What about eating after you work out? Is it good to have something small like a half peanut butter sandwich or fruit, or just wait a while to eat?

It is good to eat within 45-60 mins after a workout, eating replenishes the glycogen stores and muscles...

Would you all recommend simple carbs, or more complex and protein before working out? Like say eating 5 mins before working out.

I was doing gels, or shot blocks, about 1/2 hour before. Then found I was crashing in the middle of my workout.

I'm debating on eating more complex carbs with protein, or just eating the simple sugars right before I workout instead of 1/2 hour before.

Your thoughts? I kind if have issues with eating all sugar (natural of course) in the gels and blocks, but needed the easily digested carbs. Will I get enough energy from complex carbs quickly instead?

I have a poached egg, slice of cheese, or a protein drink.
