Default Question for runners..Help!

Hi there!

I just started the C25k and I am currently on week 3. Starting this past week I have been getting a pain in my legs located on the inside of the leg. It starts from the ankle bone to just about under the knee (but still on the inside of the leg). Normally when I run I get shin splints but I have not gotten then since I started the program (this time ). I bought insoles hoping that they would make it better but I think it made them hurt worse. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

TIA

Melynda

Sounds like what I have..achilles tendonitis. It runs from your ankle to your knee but is all the way on the inside? I didn't believe it since the pain wasn't in my ankle, it was in the upper part of the lower leg. However, I take NSAID pain relievers in the morning and afternoon before I run. It's the only thing I've found that works..

Go get fitted at a proper running store for shoes. Insoles CAN make things worse or better depending on the problem. If it persists try to get a referral to a physical therapist that is a sports therapist. They can likely determine where you have weaknesses that may need to be addressed.

charleston, in the long run relying on NSAIDS to allow you to run is not a good idea. It allows you to run but does nothing to alleviate the underlying cause of the tendonitis which leaves you more prone to a serious injury like tendon rupture. In addition, long term use of nsaids isnt really safe. (and on the inside? do you mean the back of the leg? )
