Running generally speeds my weight loss, in part because it takes so much discipline to do it. When I can manage to run 4 miles in the heat, I generally can resist temptations. Running is a good gauge of my commitment to health - when my running is slipping, generally my eating is too.

But no amount of running will help you lose weight if you are overeating. I was on the cross country team my freshman year of college & we had 5 K races every week. I was running A LOT. But, I gained 10 pounds during the season from the junk food and the keg parties.
