Default Zumba!!!

So I've heard of Zumba classes, thought they sounded interesting, wasn't really sure what to expect of them... So I went to my first one ever today with my mom at the gym.

OHMYGOD, we got our butts kicked!!!

It was INTENSE! For the most part the moves were easy enough to figure out, but my goodness the speed of it just got the better of me a couple times! It was crazy!!!

And we both agreed that we would totally do it again.

How have your guys' Zumba experiences been??

Zumba is hugely popular at my gym. We have many, many classes and they are always packed.

I have tried it a few times, and I just can't get into it. I think I am too uptight. I just can't get my hips moving. But I think it is a super great workout, it is just not for me.

That is awesome that you found a workout that you liked.

I can definitely see how it isn't for everyone! I have no problem moving my hips... It's the super fast footwork that got to me! But that's something that can easily be overcome with practice... Like so many things in life!

I used to do zumba and I loved it. It's one of those classes though, where how much fun I have really depends on the instructor. My favourite instructor left my gym and I haven't been motivated to go to zumba at all now.

i've only done the dvd's at home, but i love it! it's how i stayed thin after highschool. i have one friend, who has NO rhythm, and she just does her own thing.... still burns mega-calories by just dancing around.

I have two left feet and a couple of weeks ago I took a Body Pump class with my SIL and immediately after there was a Zumba class that she wanted to try. I gave it about 2 minutes and stepped to the back of the class and out the door. I seriously just am not into this type of class but I did see the people at the end of the class and they looked like they had one heck of a workout.

Just did my first zumba class yesterday and loved it! I've done a fair amount of salsa-aerobics in the past and have had years of latin dance classes so the moves are familiar but it seems like it would still be fun for someone without the background - fun music and lots of booty-shaking

Just went to my first Zumba class on Thursday and LOVED it. I can't wait to go back tomorrow night. I recognized alot of the kick boxing type stuff and the rest of it was hard to catch onto at first but I think I can get it down eventually.

I Zumba at least six days a week at my gym! It took me a few weeks to get comfortable with the moves. But I've always enjoyed it. It does kick my butt frequently, and I sweat a TON (sorry if that's TMI) but it's SO much fun. My friends tell me that I should introduce myself as, "Hello, my name is Michelle and I'm a Zumbaholic!"

have you seen a noticable change in the rate of your weight loss since you started?

I love Zumba, I can't really do the classes since I am on a tight budget at the moment but that will change when I get this new job. Its the only exercise I don't mind doing since it doesn't feel like "work." No instruction really just dance and feeling the music. I have the DVD's but only do one Zumba live the rest of the vids I just watch on youtube.

I love Zumba. For a while (at least 6 months I think) I did Zumba frequently, sometimes 3 times a week. We had an absolutely amazing instructor. But, I quit going to Zumba at the beginning of this year because my gym decided to charge for Zumba separately (prior to that, all classes were basically included in the membership fee). They imposed really hefty Zumba fees and to me, it was just a matter of principle. I pay $45 per month for my gym membership and basically I would have to purchase unlimited Zumba classes for $30 if I wanted to keep the same frequency. (It's really silly - 10 Zumba classes are $29 and unlimited Zumba is $30 a month). I had no intention of almost doubling my gym membership.
I do miss it sometimes, it was so much fun. Oh and my God, I sweated BUCKETS!

I got the DVDs months ago and never touched them. I tried the cardio party today without doing the learning (I watched it months ago) DVD. I think it's decently easy with some hard stuff you can improve on eventually. This is the first DVD I've ever done where I had fun messing it all up. I didn't even get frustrated when I couldn't do some moves. Although I think some moves are harder because I'm on carpet. I don't think I move as fast as them but I will one day!
