Does anyone know a book or video that has standing yoga poses only? I'm very large and have a huge umbilical hernia from my C-section a year ago. I need to try to lose weight and I want to get my joints feeling better so I though Yoga would be great. But all the stuff I see on TV is lots of floor work. I also can't do anything that strains my abdomen. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure about the standing poses only. But you might want to try Ellen Barrett's Fat Burning Fusion dvd. It's a Yoga/Pilates fusion. Except for a tiny segment toward the end, it's all standing. It looks easy, but you will get your heart rate up and get a good workout. I find it very restorative. I get all my dvds from Collage Video, so you can find it there. I also have her Yogini workout, but there is more floor work in that one.
I'd say for the most part, yoga and pilates both work your abdomen/core. You might also want to look into just a regular stretching DVD so that it is less yoga and more about stretching.
