Default Pulled Ham String

Does anyone have experience with this. I pulled my hamstring back at the beginning of December and it was Horrible! I hobbled through the holidays and kept reinjuring it.

Although I am much better now, I still find myself limping after walking for a bit or after a long shopping trip. It's not the hamstring so much anymore but the muscles that I abused while I was hobbling. Eg, my calf goes into charlie - horse mode, and the top of my knee hurts too. My doctor says just to give it time, and because of my weight it may take a bit longer to heal.

Has anyone else had experience with this, what did you do?

I do gentle stretching for long enough that I can eventually get in deeper. I am lousy at stretching so i go to yoga class.Be extra careful of cold muscles. I also drink my water, soak in the tub, and keep moving as much as I can. Things get worse for me the minute I stagnate. That's just my undoctorly opinion though.

Hope it gets better soon.

I did this this summer.... it sucks. Try to avoid walking/steps as much as possible. Streching helps (once it heals more..and dependent on how bad it is). For me, I couldn't even do a single stretch until it was almost a solid month since I had a pretty nasty pull. At night, put something warm on it and you should be okay if you avoid using it. Also, you might want to get an ace bandage to wrap around the lower part of your thigh (like 3 inches above the knee ish...) to help support it. Good luck!
