Default groin pull from running - timeline

I run ~20 miles per week. Two weeks ago I fell and came down hard on my right knee, scraping it up pretty badly. I must have also suffered a groin strain (left side) as a result of the fall. I didn't attempt to run for a week after that and when I did, I took 2 strides and winced. Another week later (tonight) I attempted to run again and while I was able to go about 10 strides, I was in pain.
It is killing me mentally and physically that I can't run. I am under the impression this will take perhaps another week or two to heal. Has anyone suffered this type of injury? What was your experience healing?

When I've fallen, and I seem to do that often, I feel the pain for up to 6 weeks. The pain gradually goes away everyday it gets better and better... But I do suggest to get it checked if after 4 weeks it's still hurting badly...

Have you iced the area? Stretched? Walk and stretch? Just some thoughts off the top of my head...
