Being sore the next day does not have to indicate a good or bad workout, after you have been doing it a few times. That being said, you may not be going down far enough in the squats. In Olympic lifting, we have a saying, "ATG" (*** to grass) - the filter blocks it out - use your imagination

But won't going down too far hurt the knees? Or is that just a myth?

Sarah, going down further will hit the glutes more, it's your knee going over your toes that harms the knees... KWIM?

I went to visit my PT the other day and she had me doing wall squats with a balance ball behind my back.

She watched my form and said I had it fine. I did feel a little muscle twinge the next day from those because I was trying to go as low as possible from all your suggestions. So, I guess I just am in shape, just have a lot of fat insulating the shape. Or the old funny "I am in shape, round is a shape"
